The warranty on this pump is a 1 year warranty. The reliant motor is made by a different manufacture than the manufacture of the Hayward Super Pump.

I installed a new 1.5 hp reliant pool pump and it doesn't seem to have enough suction to run my navigator cleaner. The new pump doesn't seem to fill all the way to the top with water. Is that common with this pump?

Reply
Hi Louie - It sounds like you have a suction leak between the pool and the front end of your pump. Since you just replaced the pump, I would look at the connections you changed in replacing the pump. One way to isolate leaks is to temporarilly pack plumber's putty around the outside of each connection to seal off any air leak. Do this is sequence. When the pump basket fills completely, the last connection packed is your leak.

My pool pump has gone out it is leaking water every wear and the motor is old to. This may be a dumb question but this pump comes with everything I need to replace all the old stuff with? I'm pretty sure the pump I have now is a 1hp will the 1.5 HP be to much or just right?

Hi, This pump comes as pictured, you will need to get plumbing and or electrical supplies to completely install this pump. It would all depend on the type of pump you currently have. I would recommend that you review our How To: Size a Pool Pump guide for the info need to make sure this pump will work for you.

Most pool pump motors do have a thermal cut-off. It sounds like your motor is running too hot and the thermal cut off is turning off the pump. Normally this is a sign that your motor needs to be replaced.

Hi Bobbye, The pump is not inferior to the Pentair pumps you're just not paying for the big brand name. This pump will not be a good replacement performance wise. The Speck Easy Fit PNT (IG281-1150M-0WF) or Pentair Whisperflo (WFE-24) are suitable replacement performance wise.

If you would like to invest in a pump that has a return on the investment, it is best to review the IntelliFlo Variable Speed - 011018 It operates up to 3HP, it requires a 230-volt connection, and a minimum of 2" plumbing. Hi, Steve. Comparing the performance curves of both pumps, your model pump MPRA6E-147L will move slightly more water than this Pure Flow 1.5 HP pump. That's because of the design of the pumps. However, this Pure Flow pump will still be able to provide sufficient water flow to meet your pool needs at a lower upfront cost. Use our How To Measure Total Dynamic Head With Gauges guide to calculate the TDH of your pool and the Pure Flow Performance Curve to confirm.

Hi, Tom. This pump has a suction lift up to 6’ above water level. You will need to calculate the Total Dynamic Head (TDH) to confirm with your 4 ft suction lift and current plumbing this pump will be sufficient.

Would this pump be a good replacement for my Jandy Variable Speed Pump see picture attached.
The PL1601 would not be the pump we suggest as a replacement for a Jandy Variable Speed Pump. We would suggest the PureLine Prime PL2606 as a suitable replacement. If you are tieing your Variable Speed Pump into a Jandy AquaLink Automation system then you may want to stay with the Jandy pump as you will get all of the read out of the Jandy pump on the AquaLink, however if you are not using a Jandy AquaLink automation system then the PL2606 would be fine.

I have a crack/leak in the pump housing and we are leaking water. It is a Hayward Self Priming pump but the model and serial are not visible. Motor is a 1081 Pool Motor EB796, similar to a few people below. I’d like to replace the entire assembly. Can you recommend based on the pictures? Thanks.
Hi Ben based on your photos we believe you have a version of the Leslies Hydormax II Pump and you will require this Leslies Hydromax II Pump Housing

Hi. I have a pure flow 1600 and it is not working and was wondering, since I need a new one if I can just switch it out for the 1601 model or stay with the 1600? Do they have the same size fittings and parts? Will that make a difference in anything pertaining to the pipes, connections, filter, etc in a negative or destructive way.
If I do purchase either one, does it come with everything I need, o-ring, etc. ready for me to just switch them out and go.
Reply
Hi, Angel. You can replace the PL1600 with the PL1601 if your filtration system is larger enough. It will be a drop-in replacement when it comes to the plumbing connections. The only thing that you might need is new unions depending on how it was plumbed.

I have a AO Smith 2 HP motor ( k48n2pa102a2) and not sure what type of pump it is that is about 15 years old. Motor has failed and for less money than just the motor I can replace the pump and motor with this one. The pump is for a large waterfall and wanted to know if 1/2 hp less would make that much of a difference. I figured might as well replace them both now and wanted to know if this was a good option or if you had other recommendations.
Hi, Bret. A 1/2 hp will make a difference. This PureFlow pump will not be a suitable replacement for the Dyna Glas Pump. I would recommend the Dyna-Pro Pump 2HP Energy Efficient 230v - MPRA6G-207L.

I was told that the bearings are going out this causing it to squeel loudly when it’s on. I was looking to just replace just the motor to save cost being that I replaced the pump about 8 years ago. It’s getting expensive. I would like to maybe buy a new unit that will be cost affective and hopefully last longer and save me money in the long run. I’ve read pros and cons about variable speed pumps vs single speed, please advise, Mahalo
Hi, Vince, you will definitely save on your operational costs by using a variable speed pump and I think the PureLine PL1615 Variable Speed Pump would be a great replacement for your 1.5 HP Max Flo.

Tommy I found your photos and have uploaded them on your behalf.
Tommy if your current plumbing size is 1.5" then this pump will work well for you. If your pipe size is 2" then I would suggest the PureLine Prime PL2602 1.5 HP Pump as it the ports on that pump are 2" either way you will have a little bit of re-plumbing to do as the plumbing port locations are not in the exact same spot as your current pump.
Reply
Sounds good. I'll check the pipe size as soon as I get home and order. I see that the 2601 has 2" inlets and is a 1hp motor. Should I replace with a 1.5hp or will the 1hp be ok? Thanks
Reply
Thanks Tommy! If you go with the Pure Flow then I would suggest going up the 1.5 HP PL1601 and if you go with the PureLine Prime then the 1 HP PL2601 would be sufficient. The Pure Flow PL1601 1.5 HP would have a comparable output to your Sta-Rite pump where the PureLine PL2601 1 HP would also have a comparable output to your Sta-Rite.

Hi Margaret, If you are just needing to replace your motor then you will need the SQ1102 Replacement Motor and a tune-up kit. If your pump is before 1998 then you will need this Tune Up Kit for Sta-Rite Dura Glas Pumps Before 1998 and if your pump is after 1998 then you will need this Tune Up Kit for Sta-Rite Dura Glas Pumps After 1998. If you are not sure if your pump is from before or after 1998 then we put together this Video on How to Determine if your Sta-Rite Dura Glas Pump is from Before or After 1998. i have an astralpool pump bx c1000 less than two years old, it is making a god awful noise. do you recommend replacing the whole system or just trouble shoot the issue?
Reply
Hugh, we do not have any information on the bxc1000 in order to get a relative cost on this for you. But, the noise is likely being caused by bad motor bearings. In this instance, we would usually suggest just replacing the motor, which in most cases range from about $130 - $200. But, at the price point that the PL1601 is at, it might be more cost effective to get the whole pump. We could better assist if we had more information on this pump. Please send a photo of your pump to upload@inyopools.com.

The only difference on the PureLine Prime and the Super Pump is the PureLine Prime has 2" Ports where the Hayward Super Pump has 1.5" ports, however, a simple 1.5" x 2" plumbing adapter will allow for 1.5" pipe.

We would suggest the PureLine Prime 1.5 HP Pump The plumbing ports on these new pumps are not in the exact same spot as your current pump so you will have a little re-plumbing. Trying to understand GPM on the 1 1/2 hp pump. I’m putting in a electric heater they says it has a flow switch that goes from 20 to 80 GPM. Does the pump go higher than that? Would that stop the heater from working?

Kenneth, GPM is a factor of horsepower and the total dynamic feet of the head of your pool. In order to accurately measure the flow rate of this pump you first need to determine the total feet of head for your pool. You can learn how to calculate this value by reading our article "How Do I Calculate Feet of Head for My Pool?".

I have an above ground pool that is partially in the ground. My current pump doesn't stay completely filled with water. Will the pump resolve that problem.
Reply
Barry, there could be many reasons that your pump is failing to prime and they do not all have to do with the pump itself. Some issues may exist beyond the pump. We suggest reading our article "How To Determine Why a Pool Pump Won't Prime" to help isolate the issue. This guide discusses the common problems involved with a motor that won't prime. Most priming problems involve leaks in the suction side of the pump (between the pump and the pool) or clogged baskets.

Hi Dan, Thanks for the follow-up question and that is a great question. I was looking at matching you up with a pump which would have similar output to your current motor. Your current motor is a full rate motor which has a True HP (THP) similar to that of a 2 HP Up Rate Motor. Here some math which will explain this better. SQ1152 1.5 HP Full Rate - 1.5 HP x 1.47 Service Factor (SF) = 2.2 True HP. PL2603 2 HP Up Rate - 2 HP x 1.1 Service Factor (SF) = 2.2 True HP.

Curious if this pump combined with a Hayward 18 inch filter with Aqualoon would be an interesting option to simply do pool vacuuming (suction with 40 hose). We believe we might have a leak underground related to the skimmer/vac ports and trying to find a reasonable solution to still vacuum the pool without having to turn on the skimmer pump for long periods of time. We have a robot that moves a good amount of water for chemicals. More concerned about larger debris mitigation.

The port size looks good (1 1/2 in) but do you have the specifications of the screw threads for the port connectors so I can replace the one I have ? Regards, Guillaume

Can you use this one to replace a Flotek 1hp pump. This pump is only for the waterfall feature, not the primary filter pump.

Hi Mark, This would be a good replacement pump for your current Flo-Tec pump, the plumbing ports on this pump are not in the exact same spot as your current pump so you will have a little re-plumbing.

My 1.5hp Hayward Power-Flo pump went out. I was going to buy the ProLine pump PL-1502, but now the website says that it’s no longer available. What pump would be a good choice? Another Hayward pump is roughly $250, while the PL-1502 would have saved me $100. Please advise....

I currently have the Purex triton- Whisper Flo WF-26C with 1.5hp Century 230/115v motor. Will the PL1601 be a suitable replacement for this? Thank you.

Which motor do you recommend to replace the WF-26C I currently have? If I decide to just replace the motor, do you have a motor you would recommend for the WF-26c? Thanks

Hi Kevin, If you wanted to go with a complete pump then I would suggest the PureLine Prime PL2602 1.5 HP as a suitable replacement. the plumbing ports on the PureLine Prime are not in the exact same spot as your current pump so you will have a little re-plumbing if you go that route. If you just want to replace your motor than you will need this B2854 Replacement Motor and this Whisperflo Tune Up Kit

Hi, Tim. In order to recommend a suitable replacement pump, you will need to provide the pump housing model. As for the picture provided, it's of the motor which the USQ1102 or PL2102.

It looks as though you sell the pump and motor assembly as one unit. I was just curious to know which assembly would be recommended to be comparable to the motor that is failing. I figured I would buy a new pump/motor assembly than just buy the motor and gasket kit. Thank you for your response to my initial question.
Reply
Hi Tim, if you are looking for the complete assembly then yes this PL1601 Pure Flow Pump would be a great option. The plumbing ports on the PureLine Pure Flow are not in the exact same spot as your current pump so you will have a little re-plumbing.
