How does the dual speed feature of this pump work?

Some dual speed pumps have a toggle switch in the back of the motor to change speeds manually, but many do not. Generally you would need to tie this dual speed pump into one of our dual speed pump timers/controllers. One of the more popular models is the Digital PE153 series. This timer has 3 functions: one to turn the pump on and off, a second auxiliary to switch from high speed to low speed, and then a third for any other piece of pool equipment. Hi, can this pump be used with a salt water chlorinator [generator] made in South Africa by Justchlor which requires a salt level of 6000ppm by weight, yes I know most USA systems call for 3500ppm. After 27 months my pump motor bearing is whining badly and I presume the shaft seal has gone, I see Hayward has a kit with a salt shaft seal, do you stock this pump "salt ready" if this is what I need?

The SP2610X15 is a 1.5HP 230/115v single speed pump that can be used with salt water pools. The main issue with a higher salt ppm level is that the salt will corrode the rubber seals and any metals that it comes in contact with at a quicker rate. Unfortunately the pump does not come "salt ready". You would have to purchase a salt water tune up kit separately. I recommend changing the shaft seal every season with a salt water pool to prevent shaft seal failure.

Hi Keith, The A.O. Smith 1-1/2 HP Round Flange Dual Speed Full Rate Motor (STS1152R) will be the correct replacement motor for the Hayward Super Pump 1 1/2 HP Dual Speed (SP2610X152S). I would also recommend getting a Hayward Super Pump Tune Up Kit (GOKIT3).

mostly i was looking for a better price on a replacement pump for my pool. i save about $150 by ordering from inyopools. i was a bit worried that it might not be what they said, but it was in fact new, in original packaging, durable, warranted, and shipped right to my home

I do not know why this 1 1/2 HP super pump with 1 1/2 inlet/outlet is paired with a 48 sqft DE filter and 5 port valve all with 2" connections Seems like a poor choice. Should have 2" connections or the 2 HP pump with 2" connections should be packaged with the 48 SqFt filter. Went with 2 speed but on low speed there is insufficient flow through my salt cell. Repositioning Cell will probably correct the issue. Last unti failed prematurely and after some research it appears there are different seals (and recommendations) when you have a salt water pool. these recommendations are not part of the manufacturers directions

Great way to eliminate a solar boost pump. Use the solar controller to switch it to high speed when heating and to low speed when re-circulating.

Pros: Easy to install
The motor on the Hayward pump that was running the pool filter when we bought the house developed overheating and tripped the breaker. It took a couple of days to diagnose the problem, but I found the exact replacement for the pump on INYO Pools website. The price was nearly $100 less than what other companies were charging. Shipping was prompt and at a reasonable cost.
