My Jacuzzi Magnum pump just died.(model #1 MF-S). Should I replace it with the same model or is there a better, variable sped, modelthat would work and be more energy efficient?

Hi Cris, You will save on your operational costs by going with a variable speed pump. Our article on How Much Does a Pool Pump Cost to Operate goes into this in greater detail. The Speck Variable Speed Pump would be a good option for replacing a Jacuzzi Magnum Pump with a variable speed pump.

Does this pump recycle itself on and off as an energy saver feature?

Hi Dean, The Jacuzzi Magnum Pump 1 HP Pump can not shut itself on/off unless it starts to overheat, otherwise it will go on/off if it is wired to a timer.

We ordered a new pump from Inyopools. It arrived in a few days. The pump did not come with a cord so we had to take the cord off the old pump. Basically this was just a matter of attaching the cord, attaching the plumbing connections from the pool and to the filter, plugging it in, priming it and turning it on. No problem. We did have a friend of ours (an electrician) check the wiring to make sure we had done it correctly (we had). This pump replaced an older Magnum pump so the plumbing was easy to reconnect.

Start with electrical. Turn off power, check voltage; both conductors phase to phase and phase to ground . Check voltage again, even check between the phase conductor and the dirt (just to be sure). Disconnect power conductors within the motor and remove from housing. Plumbing; loosen the two union connectors and the pump and strainer housing are ready to remove. Reversing the process is straightforward; you will need to ensure the threaded adaptors are not overtightened, you can damage the pump. The time spent was more about running around finding tools and plumber's tape than actual hands on the pump. Well prepared and organized, 45 minutes.

(5 out of 5 stars) Great pool pump replacement
Reviewed By: Tim T. from Nashville, TN ()
Pros: Fit right in and what I was use to using for 19 years.
Cons: None
I was first looking at replacing parts and it was $377 plus I was going to have to put it all together. I looked at replacing the whole pump and I did that for $370 and didn't have to do anything but plumb some unions and was done in a few hours.

(4 out of 5 stars) Good Pump, GREAT service

Pros: Union fittings come with the pump, quiet
I purchased this pump a year ago. Recently I noticed some uncommon noises coming from it and called Inyo. Within hours they had begun the RMA process. It took little effort on my part and a replacement pump was on the way. The pump is good, it does its job and is a direct replacement for a pump that was originally installed in 1994. Inyo was great in how they handled everything. I got a good value when I purchased this pump and then the service afterwords made it that much better a deal.

(4 out of 5 stars) Replacement Pump
Reviewed By: Michelle S. from Waldorf, MD ()
Pros: Exact fit with existing set up
Bought a house with an older pool system. The pump was about 17 years old. I asked about a replacement motor but ended up just buying the whole unit because it was more economical. I would have given this product 5 stars but had an issue with converting it from the set 230v to the 115v. The tab that I had to move was hard to undo & then one of the wires broke off when it finally came loose. Easy solder job. Other than that, it works great.

(5 out of 5 stars) Good pump exact replacement
Reviewed By: JDBG from Decatur, Alabama ()
Pros: Excellent product, price and value
Cons: None
I bought this pump after mine had failed and I investigated what local pool stores had for replacements. I was shocked at how much cheaper I could purchase the same pump. While skeptical at first after receiving the pump I now know that I will now shop INYOPools for my supplies and parts first. The pump installed easily worked perfectly and I'm very pleased.

(5 out of 5 stars) Quiet, Powerful Pump!
Reviewed By: Richard W. from Howell, NJ ()
Pros: Quiet, Powerful
Cons: None
I ordered this pump as a direct replacement for the pump installed on our pool 14 years ago (2000). I was doing the job myself, and thought I'd have a hard time finding a replacement pump and installing it due to it having different electrical connections, dimensions, and intake and output ports. Thankfully, Jacuzzi still makes this unit. Installation was a snap for me, and it was so quiet compared to the old pump, I wasn't even sure it was running! It cleaned my pool up right away and developed almost twice the pressure. That old pump had really had it. Very happy with this purchase, and it was the lowest price available anywhere. It shipped and arrived very quickly. Inyo also gives great instructions online for any type of pool repair or maintenance, so they have a new customer for life to show my gratitude.
