Can you use Non Chlorine Shock in a chlorine pool? Or do you have to use a Chlorine Shock?
Reply
Hello, Yes, you would be able to use non-chlorine shock in your pool. The non-chlorine shock is an oxidizer for the water.

I have a in ground pool w/salt system, have my water tested every month the free chlorine level has been high several months. what is the best method of lowing the chlorine level. I been told at different times to add different chemicals (shock, clarifier, yellow elim.)

Hi, James. The best way to lower the chlorine level is to reduce the output of the generator. Otherwise, you can add Chlorine Reducer to instantly reduce the chlorine.

I purchased this pool shock but when I added it to my pool my chlorine level stayed the same. Was this a bad batch?

What is the non-chlorine shock used for? When would I use it?
Reply
A non-chlorine shock is great for oxidizing the water which helps the chlorine work better. Non-chlorine shock is typically used in spas that use bromine and in chlorine based pools as a "shock and swim" meaning you can shock the pool with the non-chlorine shock and swim 15 minutes later.

I'm looking for pool shock to sanitize my drinking water. Will this work?

I have heard of people using pool shock to sanitize drinking water but I can not promote the use of any pool shock for this purpose. You will want to contact the NSF for further information.
