I just purchased a v-green 165 motor. The instructions for the 270 are very clear on how to wire it to my SWG so it will only come on at a set time with a set flow rate. I do not see this info for the 165 controller. Any suggestions? My current controller is all analog. I guess I could wire my SWG on a separate timer, but I would prefer to set it up like described on the 270 (direct from the controller on the motor)
Reply
Hello Ken - The 165 does not have the auxiliary like the 270. We spoke with the Century rep and he said the best thing you can do is just wire the 165 and your SWG to the timer. That way they will both come on and turn off at the same time. The 165 will still hold it's programming (bubble memory) so it will run in the set speed when it does turn on.

how to reset the speeds on the ECM16CU motor
Reply
The V-Green 165 user interface has a “Reset to Factory Defaults” feature to restore the schedule settings back to the original values programmed at the factory. The user must press and hold the STOP and OVERRIDE buttons for three (3) seconds to reset the settings back to factory defaults. All of the UI bar graph LED’s will flash three (3) times to confirm the settings were restored to factory defaults

What are my options for replacing 1 hp Hayward super pump motor C48K2N143B1. Energy efficiency and reliability are top priority.
Reply
There are a few options on replaceing this motor with other more energy efficient models. There is the single speed energy efficient model being the UCT1102, the dual speed model being the B973T, and the the variable speed model ECM16CU. For this last model you would need to change the impeller, possibly the diffuser and lastly would need to make sure that the filter is compatible with the added pressure. The pump and filter model would be needed to confirm whether the pump parts will need to be replaced as well as if the filter is compatible.
Reply
re: The filter that the pump will be used with is a Haward DE4800, the pool is an in ground rectangle 20 'x 40' with depth of 3.5' to 8'.

Yes, this filter is compatible with the max flow rate of this model motor and pool surface area.

Hi Randall, This motor will not work with your pump. You will need the V-Green 2.7 HP Square Flange Variable Speed Pool Pump Motor (ECM27SQU) in which you would not have to change the impeller. My question is whether this motor has the digital input and compatibility to allow the Aqualink to control the pump? Do I need some sort of interface between the Aqualink and motor?. I have a new 1HP impeller, seal, O rings, etc. Thanks.

Hi George, Unfortunately the Jandy Aqualink will not be able fully control this motor. It will only tell the motor when to come on/off. Then you will have to use the interface on the motor to operate the desired speed and run time.

I have a Hayward Super Pump motor Part # C48K2N143B1. Is this pump a replacement for that pump? Can this pump or the dual speed version of this pump work with a Hayward Prologic system or does the timer override it? Do I need a connector to make it work with the Prologic system.
Reply
Hi Ken, The ECM16CU variable speed motor can replace your C48K2N143B1 motor. It can also be wired to the ProLogic controller but only allow you to tell the motor when to turn on/off, which is just supplying power to the motor. You will have to ue the on board interface to set the speed and speed duration. The STS1072R would be the recommended dual speed motor to work with the ProLogic system. Which ever motor you decide to get we also recommend getting a Hayward Super Pump Tune Up Kit GOKIT3 or GOKIT3SALT.

Hi Jay, Yes, the ECM165CU can run continuously at 244V. The allowable range for voltage is +/- 10% of the valve shown on the motor label. So the upper voltage limit is 253V.

When starting at step one, is that the time every day that the motor will start?
Reply
Hi, Gary. The ECM16CU motor does not have a true built-in timer so you would have to set the start/stop time at your Intermatic timer. The start time would be STEP 1 and the stop time would conclude at the end of STEP 3. So if your total run time equal 12 hours you would set time Intermatic timer to start at 8 am and turn off at 8 pm.

Variable speed is efficient due to the fact that HP is roughly proportional to square of RPM, 600RPM at 0.5amp is efficient but 600RPM at 0.5HP is very inefficient! Can you clarify what are the amp and HP at 1875rpm and 600rpm? Thanks.

Just to clarify, this pump does not have programmable features in the sense that you can program it to run a certain amount of hours at this RPM, then change to another RPM for another certain amount of hours, and then another RPM for a final amount of hours? In other words, you cannot program it to do anything on it's own (the only thing that is programmable is the actual preset speeds)? So it's all manual when you want the RPMs to change...Thanks!

You are able to program it to run at a certain RPM for a specific time and so on like you said. You are able to control it from your phone with the VLink interface as well.

With my solar panels running, looking for 40 GPM with 55 feet of head, so i want to make sure this is sized correctly.
Reply
Hi, Dave. The ECM16SQU square flange vs motor is the correct motor that will fit on the P2RA5D-180L pump. The pump curve is specific to pumps, not the motor. With the proper settings, this motor will be able to achieve your goal.

Hi, Geoff. The correct replacement vs motor is the ECM16SQU. This motor does require an external timer to turn it on/off. Replacing the pump seal and o-rings are recommended, those items are all listed on the Hayward MaxFlo VS (Variable Speed) parts page.

You would not be able to make this motor 110 volts but you can change the electrical line running power to the motor to 220 volts. You would need to get with a licensed electrician but you can change that 110 volts line to 220 volts supplying power to that pump.

What is the proper replacement motor for my Speck Model 21-80/30G. This is a high volume low head 0.5 HP specialty pump with 56J motor C flange, threaded. The current pool motor is 1725rpm, is there a way to avoid pump priming as this pump is well below pool water level? High speed priming could deliver too much water and could be bad for pump. One more question on a separate pump I'm considering upgrading: Northstar SP4015NS with Y56J motor, 1.5hp, which vsp to use? Thanks!

Hi, William. The Motor Unit - 2088300005M is what's used with the Speck 21-80/30 G pump. There is no way to avoid the priming mode of this motor. The ECM27CU VS Motor would be the replacement for the Northstar SP4015NS pump.

Hello Rob - The ECM16CU would be the correct variable speed replacement for your single speed C48L2N134B1. You would install your existing impeller onto the new motor. Hi, Rod. The ECM16SQU square flange motor is the correct one you will need for Model # SF-N1-1A. Your energy savings will be based on your usage and operating RPMs. On average a customer will reduce by at least 50 percent switching from a single speed to a variable speed.

Hello Bob, the ECM16CU would work on the Jandy Stealth Original (2006 and Prior) JHP & JHPU. You would not need to change the impeller and the seals needed when you change the motor would be GOKIT77. The motor would need to add the V-Green Automation Adapter Kit - 2517501-001. With the addition of Century’s new automation adapter (kit #2517501-001) the VGreen 270 can now be installed where third party pool automation systems already exist.

Hello, based off of your current motor, you will need to go with the ECM27SQU. Please be advised that this motor has a smaller bore than your current motor and something would have to be placed underneath so that it is not hanging in the air. When you install this motor, you will also need to replace your shaft seal, which is determined by the model of your pump, not the motor.

Am I correct to assume this motor does not have a built in timer. So you would install this using a pool timer and when it comes on, it then runs the preset steps 1, 2, 3 ?

Hi Evan, Yes you are correct. You would use a normal pool timer to power the pump on and off and then whatever settings you program on the controller will take over from there once the pump is powered up.

My salt system is electrically in line with my pump. To get the pump and salt system times to run concurrent they would need to be timed to match. How would that be prevented?

does this replace the ECM16SQU.All other factors appear to match this unit. please advise as we are ready to buy

I believe the ECM16CU is the correct match judging from all the other inquiries. But it never hurts to ask. I believe my motor is SP-1607-Z1-M, and the Model is C48K2N143. I say believe because the label is so worn out, so I would ask if the model number matches the type listed above. It is a 1HP and has a SF of 1.1 and it is of course a 56J frame. I have replaced the bearings twice in the last 20 years, but think I would like the efficiency of a variable speed. I have included a picture.
If I currently have a 1HP C48K2N143 and I replace with the ECM16CU a 1.65HP motor, should I replace the 1HP Impeller in the pump with a 1.5HP Impeller like the SPX2610C

Hi, Richard. You do not want to replace the impeller to the 1.5 HP - SP2610C until you're able to confirm that your system is able to handle the increase water flow. This motor will operate fine using your current impeller.

Reply
As long as the total dynamic head matches well with a 1.65 VS motor then yes you could and you would need to change the impeller. However, we usually recommend matching or slightly exceed the total horsepower as the original pool builder likely already calculated the TDH and learned that model motor was needed for your application. You can view this guide to calculate if you would like.

Is this motor ECM16CU compatible with Hayward motor SP2610X15? Thank you in advance for the info.

Hi, Gary. Yes, this ECM16CU is compatible with model # SP2610X15. You will also need to get the Hayward Super Pump Tune Up Kit - GOKIT3 or GOKIT3SALT.

Will this motor fit on a Sta-Rite Max E Pro pump? It will be replacing a Century Centurion 1HP motor CAT B2853.
Actually, you would need to use the model ECM16SQU and this motor has a 48 frame so please keep in mind that it may not rest on the pump base the same way that your current motor does. You may need to use a thicker motor pad or place something under the motor just for added support.

I received an email from you about a V- Green 1.65 HP Variable speed round flange 56J, C-Face Pool Motor.
(Your Item) Make/Model Century ECM16CU.
Is this a direct replacement for (my model), Century A. O. Smith B977?
Hi Jerry, Your B977 motor has a total horsepower of 1.95 where this motor on the high end can go up to 1.65 HP so just a little lower than your current pump. If you could supply us with your pump information and pump model information than we could determine if we can make this motor work for your current set up. The pump information should be able to be found on the plastic side of the pump near where you access the pump basket. To supply this information click the reply link below, also if you could send a few photos those are always helpful as well. Once we receive this information we can make a recommendation. Thanks so much!

Will this pump motor work with my existing pool pump?
Yes this is variable speed motor can replace your UST1072 motor, however if you want to take advantage of the higher horsepower range of this variable speed motor then we would suggest replacing your impeller with a 1.5 HP impeller. If you provide us with your pump information then we can suggest the proper replacement impeller and shaft seal, to supply this information simply click on the reply link below.

I hope these two more pics. help you .Thanks!
Thanks for the photos those are quite helpful! I would suggest the ECM16CU Variable Speed Motor along with this 1.5 HP Impeller and this 1.5 HP Diffuser and this Shaft Seal. These parts would allow you take advantage of the higher HP range of this variable speed motor. We will also email over a quote for these parts where you can placne order directly through that emailed quote.

Are these pumps energy star rated, there are some rebates in my area if I switch my Hayward Super Pump to an energy star version. Thanks
Reply
Hi, Steven. Motors are not Energy Star rated, only complete pumps. The Super Pump VS Variable Speed Pump 230V - W3SP2603VSP is energy star rated and will qualify for rebates.
Reply
The Hayward Super Pump VS system (that is Energy Star rated and qualifies for a rebate) uses the same pump components as the Super Pump, with the only difference being the VS motor and controller. Why then would adding the VGreen 165 to an existing Super Pump not satisfy any Energy Star requirements for a rebate?

Fritz, EnergyStar only provides this Certification to whole goods, not parts. Motors are considered replacement parts.

I am replacing my 1.5 THP Hayward Super Pump (SP2610x15) with this motor. When taking my old motor out, I noticed everything inside (impeller, diffuser, seal plate, etc) needs replacing too. I’m torn between what impeller size I need. The spx2610 or spx2615 for this new Vgreen 1.65 motor?
Hi, Amanda. You will need the Impeller - SPX2610C. The Super Pump SP1600X- Series Drive Train UpGrade Kit 1.5 HP - SPX2610CKIT includes all the parts you need.

Hi. I have a Hayward Super Pump II, SP3010X152AZ 1.5 HP with SP1610Z2MC 1.5-.25 HP SF 1.0 dual speed.
Is the ECM16CU suitable? Swimpure SWG.
Control panel has a circular pull tab primary timer; secondary a dip switch for High Speed. Hi & Lo slide switches for Auto/Off/Manual. From the diagram, looks like I just need to disconnect LOAD 4. Should the timer cycle the power to the pump or is continuous best?
Alternatively, would STS1152 be a direct replacement? Thank you.
Hi, Glenn. Yes, this ECM16CU motor is a suitable replacement. You will use the Single Speed Pump Wiring Diagram, have the motor power on/off using the timer and program the speed and duration on the motor's interface. The STS1102RV1 is the correct direct replacement. It has a HP of 1.0/.16 with a S.F of 1.5. I will also recommend getting the Hayward Super II Pump Tune Up Kit - GOKIT2 or GOKIT2SALT.
Reply
Thanks Lennox. A couple of other questions: My SWG was wired to the incoming hots so it it powered on all the time except when the breaker to the pump is thrown. Should I rewire it to the same "Single Pump" load terminals or leave as-is? Would this drop the voltage from 220 to 110? I've heard that the flow sensor should not be relied upon as the primary on/off for the chlorine generation. What is the shipping weight? The shipping address I would prefer to use has a limit of 70 lbs.
Reply
Glenn, You can use the same load for the pump to the SWG if it can be wired for 230 volts also.

I have Hayward EcoStar Model SP3400VSP. Is this motor compatible? Just had local pool store diagnose that the ball bearings are going bad, due to the whirring noise it is making. Do you send instructions on how to remove replace?
Hi, Michael. This ECM16CU motor is NOT compatible with the EcoStar pump without changing the impeller reducing the overall performance of the pump. If the Drive Assembly still works, you can replace just the Motor Assembly - SPX3400Z1ECM or replace it with the ECM27SQU.

Have a 18x40, 22k gallon salt water pool. Switching from UST1102 to ECM16CU VS motor. 1) Currently have Intermatic timer controlling pump. If I switch to VS, would I just leave the timer on all the time and use the controls on the ECM16CU to cut on and off the pump? 2) Currently run the pump for 8-12 hours a day. How would I run ECM16CU for 16 hours and off 8 hours a day? Would you program stages 2&3 to 0 rpm? 3) Would running the ECM16CU at 1700 RPM be recommend for the Salt Chrorinator?
Reply
The V-Green 1.65 HP Round Flange 56J Variable Speed Motor - ECM16CU does no have an integrated timer to power on/off it is designed to operate 24/7 with the selected speeds or to wire it to an existing on/off time clock. I suggest the use of the on/off time clock to allow you to service equipment without having to start the motor from the beginning of the programmed speeds. If it takes 8-12 hours per day to circulate the water using the UST1102 1.0HP I would consider upgrading the impeller and possibly the diffuser for a high flow rate in gallons per minute to a 1.5HP to take advantage of the option with this VS motor. We will need the pump model name or number to assist with the parts and to answer the programming questions.

Hi Jag, The UST1102 can be wired either 230V or 115V where the ECM16CU variable speed can only be wired 230V. So if you are set up for 230V then you will be fine, if you are set up for 115V then this variable-speed motor would not work.

Awesome thank you for the quick response! We will order the motor and gokit. What is your return policy if for whatever reason the motor is not compatible with our setup or voltage? The current old Hayward motor says Volts = 115/230, not sure of that helps for a better understanding of the current motor output
Reply
Hi Zach, You can return the motor in new and unused condition within 30 days. Your current motor can be wired either 115v or 230v where the new motor can only be wired 230v. Most pools are set up for 230v however if your pool is set up for 115v then this new VSP motor would not work. You can take a voltmeter on the wires coming into your current pump to get a voltage reading and this will tell you if you have 115v or 230v. We wrote this article called Is My Pool Pump 115v or 230v which you may find helpful.

Or, is there a benefit to the ECM27CU (2.7 HP). Our pool is as simple as it comes - no spa or water features, 1 skimmer, 1 main drain, 3 returns, and originally 18K gallons.

will it fit for Jandy PHPM2.0
even this one is 1.5HP
Reply
Hi, James. Yes, it will fit, but will not be able to operate the pump. You will have to replace the impeller to P/N R0807202 to match the 1.65 THP of the motor. If you want to to keep your existing impeller, you will need to use Model # ECM27SQU.

The ECM16CU would be the correct variable speed motor. If you need the seals and gaskets as well we will just need the front pump housing wet end model that the motor attaches to in order to cross-reference that for you.

Hi Michael, the correct variable speed replacement motor for your motor part number 196337 is the ECM27SQU. When replacing a pool motor we do suggest a Seal Kit. Could you send us a few photos of your pump so we can suggest the proper seal kit? If so then please take a wide shot of the complete pump to include the pipes going in and out of the pump. To supply photos simply click the reply link below and upload your photos. Once we get those photos we can make the proper recommendation for your seal kit.

The ECM16CU motor is not Energy Star certified. In order to be Energy Star certified, it must be a complete pump. A 1.65HP Energy Star pump would be the Waterway Power Defender model PD-VSC165.

I currently have the following pump,
Pump motor - Hayward model C482N134B3 / 1.5 hp / FR 56J / volts 115/230
Pump model - Hayward SP2810X15
The pump has burned out and looking for a replacement. I live in Calif (sucks here) and require a variable speed pump.
Do you have a direct replacement for bad pump?
Good day,Yes, based on the C482N134B3 & SP2810X15 the Century Motors V-Green 1.65 HP Round Flange 56J Variable Speed Motor - ECM16CU would be the correct motor. We also suggest changing the seals which would be Tune Up Kit Hayward MaxFlo - GOKIT1.

I currently have a Hayward 1.5 HP motor (C48L2N134B3) connected to a Hayward pump (SP2810X15). I want to replace the pump motor and totally rebuild the pump. Will the following items accomplish this task?
V-Green 1.65 HP Round Flange 56J Variable Speed Motor - ECM16CU
MaxFlo SP1800X- Series Drive Train UpGrade Kit 1.5 HP - SPX2810CKIT
Tune Up Kit Hayward MaxFlo - GOKIT1
Hello Paul, yes based on the Max-Flo Pump 1 1/2 HP Single Speed Pump the ECM16CU motor would be correct, the MaxFlo SP1800X- Series Drive Train UpGrade Kit 1.5 HP - SPX2810CKIT and the Tune Up Kit Hayward MaxFlo - GOKIT1 would all be correct for the install. Now if you wanted to install a new pump with a variable speed motor we would suggest the Waterway Power Defender 165 Variable Speed Pool Pump 1.65 HP 230V - PD-VSC165.

Hello,Thank you for contacting Inyopool products! We would not recommend using a 2hp impeller on this. This can damage the motor in the long run.

I just installed this motor, and it runs sweetly. Yes, it's loud at high rpms and super quiet at the lower.
I have 2 questions:
1) I have 3 steps programmed with speeds and times. Let's say that after step 2 starts with low rpms I want to manually increase or decrease the rpms this one time until that step's end time. How would I do that?
2) Is it possible to "fast forward" to another step? To jump from step 1 to 3, for example as step 1 is running.
Thanks

Hello Norman, the best option for you to control the 1.65 HP unit would be the Century Motor VLink - VL100. The VLink wireless motor interface gives the pool operator the ultimate ability to set, adjust, and monitor a pump motor schedule from virtually anywhere in the world with the use of a smart mobile device. In addition, the programming flexibility allows the user to monitor, manage and calculate energy consumption and savings, and easily and conveniently set custom overrides for parties and cleaning.

I do not recommend replacing the motor with the 1.65HP VS motor with this application, it will not provide enough flow for all of the bends in the plumbing. You would most likely require operating it at the max speeds to provide adequate flow. The Waterway Power Defender 165 Variable Speed Pool Pump 1.65 HP 230V - PD-VSC165 is a better choice of pumps. It has a 1.65VS motor but the pump is a heavier duty high flow pump that will provide much better flow rates than the Super pump. You must have 208-230 Volts for wiring, it will not operate with 110/115-120V.
Reply
I was just wanting to replace the motor not the whole pump. Which variable speed motor do you recommend to replace the Super Pump that has gone bad?
Reply
My best recommendation is to replace the whole pump with the ones I reviewed above. If you are interested in replacing it with a VS motor it would be best to upgrade to the V-Green 2.7 HP Round Flange 56J Variable Speed Motor - ECM27CU (208-230 Volts) with the Super Pump SP1600X- Series Drive Train Upgrade Kit 2 HP - SPX2615CKIT to provide adequate flow.

My impeller is a Hayward SP2607-C which is 1.0 THP. Wouldn’t that protect the motor from being overworked?
Reply
The Impeller 1.0 THP - SPX2607C is used on several Hayward pumps. If you have it installed on the Max-Flo or Super Pump you can install the V-Green 1.65 HP Round Flange 56J Variable Speed Motor - ECM16CU (208-230 Volts Only), the ECM16CU can be used up to 1.65 total HP. You will need a seal kit, if you have the Max-Flo you will order the Tune Up Kit Hayward MaxFlo - GOKIT1 and Tune Up Kit Hayward Super Pump - GOKIT3 for the Super pump. There are salt shaft seal kits available too.

Can you please confirm if this pump would be a good match? If not, we’d love some recommendations on the best replacement motor.

Hello. Yes, the Century Motors V-Green 1.65 HP VS motor would be an excellent replacement for your single-speed motor. Additionally, you will need to replace the motor shaft seal, and the diffuser o-ring and seal plate gasket at the same time. Those parts are specific to the pump model and not the motor. If we can be of assistance in identifying those parts, please provide any pump model information you might discover or send pictures of the entire pump from different angles in response.

Hi Molly we double-checked the HP rating of your 0-164303-23 motor and it matches with the high speed of this variable speed motor, which good news as it means you would not need to replace your diffuser and impeller. You would just need this Hayward Super Pump Tune Up Kit as well as the motor on this page.

Hi Andrew, We would suggest that you upgrade your impeller to this 1.5 HP Super Pump Style Impeller this will allow you to take advantage of the upper HP range of your variable speed motor. The entire drive train kit would not be needed.

Hi, Yes this is compatible with the Jandy Control system. Please note that all of the programming would be done on the onboard controller of the motor and then the Jandy AquaLink would just power the pump on and off and then the onboard programming would take over from there. You cannot dial in the exact RPM settings from the AquaLink controller this would be programmed at the motor.

I have a clock timer that turns on and off every 12 hrs for my pump and salt chlorinator....if i continue to use the clock(off during the night hours) will i have to reset the pump programming each time the clock timer turns on the system?
Your external timer will ensure your motor starts at the same time every day. For example with a timer set to start a 10:00 am, the motor will act as if its power was interrupted until 10:00 and will start at the beginning of its 24-hour cycle. If the timer is set to go off at 6:00 pm, the motor will stop its current 24-hour cycle and stop running. When the timer comes on at 10:00 the next morning, the motor will start again at the beginning of its schedule.

Hi Todd, Our recommendation would be this ECM16CU Replacement Motor. Your motor is actually a round flange as the motor mounting plate makes it looks like a square flange. You can see this by viewing item #14 on this Hayward Super Pump VS Parts Diagram. When replacing your motor you will also need this Hayward Super Pump Tune Up Kit. Hello Ron. The Century Motors V-Green 1.65 HP Variable Speed Motor model ECM16SQU is compatible with the Hayward EcoStar wet end. It would be important to identify the horsepower of the existing drive/motor assembly in order to properly size the replacement assembly. The SP3200DR is 1.85HP, the SP3400VSP is 2.7HP. Horsepower identification can be made via the impeller part number which is stamped into the surface of the impeller. The Century Motors V-Green 2.7 HP Variable Speed Motor model ECM27SQU may be the correct replacement. Attached please find an exploded parts diagram for the Hayward EcoStar Pump for parts reference. The GOKIT14 would be the correct Tune-Up Kit when not replaceing the impeller or diffuser. Attached please find the INYO Pools Shipping Policy. Shipping Policy

I would like to replace my current pump with the V-Green variable speed motor-ECM16CU. I currently have an AO Smith SN1152. I added picture or my pump.
Just want to ensure that the V-green compatible replacement.
My current motor was replace a few months ago, but I would like something with variable speed and controls. If the V-green is compatible, is there anything else I would need to purchase with the motor?
Hello JJ. The Century Motors Variable Speed Motor ECM27CU is compatible with your Hayward NorthStar Pool Pump. V-Green 2.7 HP Variable Speed Motor - ECM27CU Your current motor model SN1152 has a total horsepower (THP) of 2.4. The Century Motors V-Green ECM16CU has a THP rating of 1.65 - too small for the current NorthStar impeller/SN1152 motor. Attached please find exploded parts diagrams for the Hayward NorthStar 2008-Current Hayward NorthStar (2008-Current) and NorthStar 1998-2007 Hayward NorthStar (1998-2007). The motor shaft seal, seal plate o-ring, and diffuser o-ring should be replaced concurrent with the new motor. A visual comparison of the wet ends will identify your NorthStar.

I have an older Hayward RS1000 pump. I did not upgrade/change the diffuser/impeller, it currently has the stock ones that came with it. I don't remember the original motor HP as I installed a VP pump motor that is no longer working. I need to replace the pump motor and am looking at the ECM16CU, due to only a few motors being legal for CA. I want to make sure I am doing everything right. Do I need to replace the diffuser/impeller? What seal kit do I need? And will this motor work.

Hello Victor. The Century Motors V-Green 1.65 HP Variable Speed Motor model ECM16CU is a compatible replacement for the Hayward RS1000. No need to change the impeller or diffuser with the ECM16CU. It is recommended that the motor shaft seal, seal plate gasket, and diffuser o-ring be replaced concurrent with the new motor. The GOKIT32 contains the necessary parts to complete this project. Ok thank you. It looks like my pump requires a square flange. Does that matter?
The round flange is correct for the Hayward Super Pump replacement. The motor mounting plate is bolted to the motor and will be removed to install to the new round flange motor. so this would be the correct motor to order (V-Green 1.65 HP Round Flange 56J Variable Speed Motor - ECM16CU)? My current motor say's Frame 71 is it better to use the heavy duty Salt Water Seal kit when I do the rebuild?
Thank you for placing the order. I will answer this question for others who may have the same concerns. Yes, the ECM16CU is correct and the salt kit is the heavier duty seal that can be used with either salt or chlorine pools.

I have Hayward SP2610X15 Super Pump 1.5 HP (with Century UST1152 single speed motor). I want to replace the motor with variable speed motor, and want to know if this model will work. I am using it on 115v. I originally was going to put an Intermatic PF1103T timer with freeze protection on my existing unit, but saw where some variable speed motors have the freeze protection built-in. If I can get the functionality of both in one unit, that would be better.

Hello Kurk. The Century Motors V-Green 1.65 HP variable speed motor ECM16CU operates at a voltage range of 208-230 VAC and is NOT designed to operate at a voltage of 115 VAC. The Century Motors V-Green ECM16CU would otherwise be compatible with the Hayward Super Pump model SP2610X15.

If you use the over ride input for a solar panel will it toggle off and on with the light sensor or will it set once and go back to program?
Reply
Hi David, the digital inputs (and the input for the Override function) have the highest priority so your solar controller should be able to turn the pump on to the override setting (or whatever step you choose) when the light sensor tells the controller to send the correct low voltage to the corresponding digital input on the pump. When the digital input signal voltage is removed the V-Green 165 will automatically start the 24-hour schedule at the beginning.

How do I get the fan cover off to check propeller? Is it the allen wrench in the end of the fan cover?
Reply
Hi Daniel, the hex (Allen) head at the end of the motor is to hold the motor spindle steady while replacing the impeller. The end shroud for the fan is held on by a few hex head screws on the perimeter of the shroud (look on the side of the motor for them). Be sure to disconnect power to the motor before performing any service on it.

I have a Hayward SP3015 Super II 2-Horsepower Pool Pump. The pump bearings are shot. Will this VS pump be a suitable replacement? Which Seal kit would be used, GOKIT2?
Reply
Hi Chris, you would need to get the V-Green 2.7 HP Round Flange 56J Variable Speed Motor - ECM27CU to replace the motor in your 2HP Super II pump or you risk burning it out prematurely. Motors need to be at least the same horsepower as the current one unless you also downsize the impeller and, sometimes, the diffuser. The GOKIT2 will be perfect for your Hayward Super II SP3000 Series pump.

I have an irrigation booster pump which I want to swap out the existing single speed 1.5 motor to a VS so I get the energy savings and also a constant pressure. I have over 40 valves ranging from drip irrigation, lawn and orchard irrigation so the demand changes quite a bit depending on what is being watered. The existing pump has a working pressure of up to 80PSI. Do you have a "controller" that would increase the motor speed as the demand increases? Any ideas or suggestions?
Thank you

Hello, I am looking at this pump to replace an A.O. Smith Century 2-speed 1.5/.25 HP, 1.47 SF, Y56Y Frame, 3450/1725 RPM, 230 Volts, 11.0/4.0 Amps. It's connected to a Whisperflo Model # WFEDS-6 Serial # 1-20-D02. Is this the best option? What else if anything would I need? I believe I will need some additional seals for the flange and shaft as well. Thanks!
Reply
Hello Jeff. The Whisperflo Pool Pump model WFEDS-6 has a total horsepower (THP) of 2.2. The Century Motors V-Green 2.7 HP Variable Speed Motor model ECM27SQU is the better replacement with a THP of 2.7. ECM27SQU The WFEDS-6 pump impeller is rated for 2.2 THP, dropping the THP to 1.65 as with the ECM16SQU will place unwanted stress on the motor. Depending on the flow requirements of your pool, you may be able to drop THP, dropping the flow rate. The drop in THP would necessitate a change in the impeller. Does this motor/controller have a memory and internal clock? If power is disrupted will it retain current time and programming?
Reply
Hello Matthew. The Century Motors V-Green 1.65 variable Speed Motor ECM16CU does not have a programmable internal time clock to establish the time of day. The run schedule is based on a 24-hour schedule and will repeat each day of the week. If power is lost while the V-green 165 is running a 24-hour schedule, once the power has been restored the V-Green 165 will start the 24-hour schedule from STEP 1. Hi there,
Could you recommend the proper VS motor and seal kit, if needed, for a Hayward Century 48L2N134B3 1.5hp. Also I would like to know if with this new pump if I should set the max rev speed to a certain limit knowing that I got a sand filter with a 53 GPM all connected with 1.5 inches pipes.
Thank you,
Hello Eric. The Hayward Super Pump VS Motor Upgrade Kit - 1.65HP - MKIT3VS16 provides the most economical means to transition the Hayward Super Pump from single to variable speed. The MKIT3VS16 includes the Century 1.65 VS Motor, 1.5THP Impeller, shaft seal, and necessary gaskets & o-rings to complete the project. The current Hayward Century Motor model 48L2N134B3 has a total horsepower rating of 1.65, identical to the Century VS Motor. The impeller size is not changing, alleviating the maximum RPM concern. The programming flexibility of the VS motor will allow a fine-tuning of run time, flow rate, and water quality equation.

4 years ago i replaced a single speed motor on my hayward superpump with a vgreen 165. Please see attached pics. The vgreen worked ok for 4 years but has suddenly become very noisy and seems ready to fail. I am willing to try another vgreen `165 , looks like i need round flange. My question is whether i should get the upgrade kit with new impeller, because i did not change the impeller 4 years ago and i don't know if it was wrong size contributing to failure of the 4 year old vgreen.
Hello Robert. The V-Green 1.65 HP Round Flange 56J Variable Speed Motor - ECM16CU would be the correct variable speed motor replacement for the Hayward Super Pump. The Tune Up Kit Hayward Super Pump - GOKIT3 contains the seals and gaskets necessary to complete the new motor installation. The decision to change the Impeller is dependent upon the part number of the current Impeller. Impeller and motor are matched by total horsepower (THP) rating. The ECM16CU THP rating is 1.65. If your current Impeller is stamped with part number SP-2600-B, SPX1610-C, or SPX1611-C, an Impeller change is not required.

I have a Hayward sp2607x10 and replacing the motor with the V-Green 165(part-ECM16CU) what are the correct parts needed for the new motor, example: rebuild kit, gaskets, impeller, etc. ?
Reply
Hello Robert. The Super Pump™ Style Impeller 1.5 THP would be the compatible replacement impeller with the V-Green 1.65 ECM16CU if you wished to incrementally increase the water flow rate (circulation GPM). The existing SP2607X10 impeller is also compatible, the ECM16CU installation would have no effect on the water flow rate under that scenario. The Tune Up Kit Hayward Super Pump - GOKIT3 contains the parts necessary for the new motor installation.
