Is SPX2700SA OK to use with saltwater pools? If not, , is there a shaft seal for saltwater pools for the Max Flo-II?

I needed to replace the motor for our pump so the pump shaft seals needed to be replaced.

I popped the seal out of the casing then without touching the porcelain part of the seal I lubricated the rubber ring on the seal. Then using the part of the seal that has the grafite end I very carefully and slowly popped the new seal in.

Burnt up pool pump motor...

Written on 2/22/2020 by Guest

Took a pic of old motor, sent it to INYO....they found the proper replacement and so I ordered it...they suggested that I would need a seal kit and o-ring to do the job correctly...and that was great, so I purchased those also...

They sent the three items with explicit instructions on what to do...great...only one problem...the seal kit said not to touch it as the oil from your fingers could damage the seal...great.....then it said I needed a “water based lubricant to install and lube the seals properly!

I do “a lot” of “ fixing”...in fact the pump install was for a buddy....but I don’t and so I asked a few “ fix it” friends if they had a “water based” lubricant...none did...it would have been “great” if INYO had suggested I purchase some when recommending the other add ones...if they carry it...if they don’t...they should!

Would have saved me a trip to town...and I live on an island...and it’s hard to find...ended up at a drug store with a lube...for night time activities....INYO dropped the ball on this one and I hope this note helps another DYI person!
