Can I replace a Hayward SP1600F5 mounting plate with a SP1600F? Will the pump work as designed?

Hello Buzz - The SP1600F and the SP1600F5 (SPX1600F5) are the same thing. If you order the SP1600F you will receive the SP1600F5 (SPX1600F5).

The number on my motor mounting plate is spI600f5. Is the spx1600f5 the same?

Good morning. I believe the plate you have may read sp1600F5 not spi600fs. Please double check the i or 1, for if it is a 1600 then yes it is the same part. Hayward puts the X in part numbers listed in their catalogs but not on the part itself. A little confusing. If it is an i on the plate, I am not sure. If a question still persists, please take a few pictures of your whole pump and send them to me  and I will see what I can figure out for you.

I have a Hayward 1HP super pump that is leaking. I took it apart and replaced the diffuser gasket,#SPX1600R,and the housing gasket,#5110-12. After putting it back together, and making sure all bolts were on tight, it still leaked. Is there something else I should do?

Hi Tony I would suggest replacing your Hayward Super Pump Shaft Seal as this is a common items which causes leaking.

Same issue here, and I replaced the pump seal as well. I see a small leak coming from what looks like this piece and the motor connection. Is theirs a part worth replacing before having to buy a new pump?

Is there a seal or gasket for this item

Hello Pamela, the only seal that goes in around this part is a pump seal which would go in the middle of the motor mounting seal plate.

The old mounting plate was chipped around the center hole

I took the motor off of the pump by removing 4 bolts. I disassembled the pump and replaced the part. I saved the old part because the minor damage to it was probably not enough to cause it to fail but I just felt better after the new part was installed.
