when replacing this spider gasket what type of glue/sealant?? do you use to make it stay inside the grove.?

It is recommended to use clear RTV silicone for those gaskets. You would run a small bead of it in the grooves that the gasket will sit inside of.

Hi: I am replacing a valve seat gasket on my multivalve SP-711. Will I need the Loctite glue to glue the gasket in place? Which Loctite should I use? Do I need the o-ring lube for the top surface of the gasket? Should I replace the cover right after gluing the gasket in place or wait til it dries? How long should I wait for it to dry?
Thanks Kindly,
Tony

We recommend using clear RTV silicone to glue the gasket in the channel and you do not have to use lube on the top side of the gasket. Also depending on the silicone used you may be able to put the cover back in a few hours.

I am looking for a replacement for the spider gasket for a Hayward S166-T sand filter. How do I determine what one will fit? Are ther other parts I should consider replacing at the same time? It leaks water from the waste line while on filter.

On the valve label, it should provide you with the specific valve model that you can reference for locating a parts diagram for it. You can also call in to advise us. If you cannot locate a model number on the valve then you can email us images of the valve to upload@inyopools.com so we can try and identify the model for you.

I have a Hayward Vari Flo switch on my filter. It doesn't spring up when I turn it to a different position... and now, when I run the filter in the filter position, water is exiting the back wash pipe. I am hoping that some gaskets and maybe a spring will help. Please advise

Hello, I have a SPX0710X32 valve which is leaking from the waste port when in the filter position. From what others have posted it seems replacing this Valve seat gasket (SPX0710XD) will fix the issue, but is there anything else I need (sealant, glue, etc.)? The Valve spring is very loose as well...should I replace that while I'm at it? And if so, what other parts will I need?

If the handle is loose I would also recommend replacing keys 8-10 on the parts diagram here. It is also recommended to use RTV silicone for the spider gasket.

I have DE powder leaking into pool as I add it to skimmer after backwashing , could this be a bad spider gasket that needs replaced ??
Reply
Yes, it could be a bad spider gasket and or grids or parts going bad from within the filter itself. I would suggest starting with inspecting the spider gasket then going from there.

I seem to be having a water leak back into the waste/backflush line. It is small, I am replacing the screw on the side of the Jandy valve, but I am not sure that is the complete problem. I think the spider gasket might be going out because there is a bit of residual water in the multiport valve.
Also even though the skimmer lid has been tightened, when the pump is turned back on after backflushing or after filtration, a stream of water comes out of the side. Not sure the model
Hi Danielle, most often this type of leak is caused by a failed spider gasket and this is the correct one for your Hayward Vari Flow multiport valve SP711 series. Here is a guide that we put together for replacing a spider gasket that may also assist.
