I need to replace my DE pool filter, which is a Nautilus NS 60 Pac Fab, stainless steel. Is your Pentair FNS Plus 60 sq ft and a 2" backwash valve compatible?
Reply
Yes we would definitely suggest the FNS Plus 60 as a perfect replacement DE Filter for your Nautilus NS 60 Pac Fab, stainless steel filter. The plumbing ports will not be in the exact location as your old filter, so there will be some minor re-plumbing required. The 2" backwash valve is purchased separately, thanks for the question.

Hello I have a Purex Triton FNS Plus - FNSP 60.
I would like to know if this is the correct filter to buy? Also, will I need any other parts?

If you are looking at replacing your entire filter than yes this would be the correct filter. You would also need a FNS Plus Backwash Valve which is purchased separately.

Hi, You can replace the grid your Pac-Fab FNS 36 with a FNS Plus 48 Sq Ft Filter w/o Valve or if you would like to over size the FNS Plus 60 Sq Ft Filter w/o Valve will be better.

My question do you have the filter for this? It's about 7 years old. I need to replace the filter. What filter do I need and what is the cost?
Thanks.

Hi, The model # provided does not cross reference to any Pentair filter. There should be a model # directly on label, if you can get us that p/n we can locate the correct replacement grids.

I have a DE filter with a home I just purchased. I replaced the motor with the V-Green I purchased from inyo last month. The cartridge seems to leak from where the valve attaches to the tank. can this leak be stopped if in the seam? Thank you in advance for your help with this issue.

Hi Gino, If the tank is leaking beacuse of a crack in the unit then you will have to replace the Bottom Tank Assy-170018 or the Bulkhead O-ring which can be found via the Pentair FNS Plus D.E. Filter Parts page.

Hello. I currently have an old Nautilus FNS 60 D.E. fiberglass filter installed. I also have the multi-port valve. Will a new FNS Plus 60 Sq Ft Filter directly replace the old unit without requiring plumbing changes (basically, will the two bulkhead connections out of the multi-port valve line up)?
Reply
Hi RDW, The FNS Plus 60 will be a direct replacement to the Nautilus FNS 60. The valve height might be 1" lower on the FNS Plus versus the Nautilus FNS.

I cleaned my de 60 sq ft filter grids and see no holes in the screens. Three grids have a few broken internal fingers on the bottom sections inside the cloth screen with no cuts tears or holes. I am getting DE powder into pool. What is wrong? Any suggestions how DE is getting through the screens and into my pool?

There could be a number of parts that may have gotten damaged which can cause this issue. The grids, standpipe, standpipe o ring, manifold, or even the spider gasket or seals in the control valve attached to the filter. Just have to inspect them all for damage or wear.

Do you sell the bottom tank assembly? If so what's the price?

how do you backwash
and when do I backwash?
Reply
Hi, Cindy. This filter requires a valve that you allow you to backwash the filter. You would backwash the filter when the current filter pressure exceeds 8-10 psi above the starting pressure.

Last year my pool service company replace my Hayward 1.0HP with a Jandy Pro Series Plus HP - PHPM 1.5. I have been having problems with my Pentair FNS Plus 48 Sq Ft DE Filter. Before the pump was replaced the starting pressure was 10 PSI. Now with the Jandy Pro Series Plus HP - PHPM 1.5 the starting pressure is 20 PSI. Instead of replacing the pump again, I was thinking of replacing the Filter to Pentair FNS Plus 60 Sq Ft Filter. Would this lower the PSI?
Reply
Hi, Paul T. Yes, increasing the filter size will reduce the filter's operating pressure.

I have a 30,000-gallon pool. A pool service company replaced the Hayward 1.0HP pump with a Jandy Pro Series Plus HP 1.5 HP pump. It would appear that my Pentair FNS plus 48 cannot handle the pressure. The starting pressure is 20 PSI; before the starting pressure was 10 PSI. It quickly goes to 30 PSI. My question is would getting a new larger filter unit like the Pentair FNS plus 60 reduce the pressure since my current filter is 12 years old or should I replace the pump?
Reply
Hi, Paul T. Yes, a larger filter will allow your system to operate using a much lower system pressure.

I have an older Pentair Nautilus FNS 60 with a drain plug in the rear of the lower section. The unit is starting to leak and I want to replace it with a new FNS PLUS 60 unit. Will the plumbing on the FNS PLUS 60 line up with the plumbing of the older FNS 60? The lower opening connection is 9 inches above the ground and the top opening connection is 71/2 inches above the lower opening connection.
Reply
Hi, George. The FNS Filter plumbing/valve connections are 1" high than this FNS Plus filter. So the plumbing will have to be slightly adjusted or the filter will have to be raised by 1 inch.

I have an older PacFab 60 DE filter. I was looking to replace it with this one. It looks like the outlets are about an inch lower than on the PacFab. Are there any trade secrets to bridge that 1 inch gap or will I need to buy a new valve as well? Don't have a lot of PVC to work with on the top outlet.
Reply
So when the port arrangements are different you, unfortunately, would have to change the complete multiport valve.
Reply
Instead of switching out valves, would it be acceptable to put a plastic or concrete slab underneath this filter to make up a 1-inch difference?
Reply
If you current multiport valve matches the portholes on the filter then it may be compatible. You can always provide us with the model valve that you currently have so we can confirm compatibility. If you do not have that information then you can email us images to upload@inyopools.com so we can confirm for you.

Will the plumbing for an FNSP 60 from 2008 line up with the plumbing of a current FNSP 60? I'm just trying to determine how involved the installation might be before I place the order for the new model.

Hello Robert. According to Pentair Technical Service, the Inlet and Outlet Ports on the Pentair Filter FNSP 60 from 2008 are in the identical position to the current Pentair FNSP 60 Filter. The Inlet Port is 8" on center from the bottom of the tank base. The Outlet Port is 15 1/2" on center from the bottom of the tank base.

I need to replace my Purex-Triton Nautilus fns 60. will the pluming match the new Pentair fns 60?
Reply
Hello Hank. The Inlet Port on the Pentair FNS Plus is 8" on center from the filter base, the Outlet Port is 15 1/2" on center from the filter base. The Inlet Port on the Purex Triton Nautilus FNS is 9" on center from the filter base, the Outlet Port is 16 1/2" on center from the filter base. The Multiport Valve (or Slide Valve) currently installed is compatible with the FNS Plus. The FNS Plus Filter Base is 21 1/2" in diameter. Installing the FNS Plus on landscape block 2' x 2' x 1" will align the FNS Inlet/Outlet Ports to the Multiport Valve (or Slide Valve).
