I need parts for my filter valve. When I look at the filter parts breakdown, it gives me different choices. How do I know which one is the one I need?
Reply
In order to locate the correct parts we will need to know the model number of the filter valve. Two identical filters can have two different valves. Typically the valve model will be located on the label of the valve. If there is no model number on the valve, you can try to see if there are any part numbers on the valve itself. Once you've located you valve model you can check out our >Filter Valve Parts.

My Triton sand filter is 27 years old. Cannot read model #. My valve is a PacFab model with threaded 1 1/2 connections. I have 6 position lever. Centers for the filter are 7 1/2 inches. Would I use a Pentair 1.5 threaded valve #261173 for a replacement? Filter is 24" diameter. Thanks

Hi Don, The 261173 would not be the correct valve. You would need the 7-1/2" Center to Center Valve for the Pac-Fab Triton 261050.

Jim, There are a few different variations of this valve depending on your filter tank model. What is the model of your filter tank?

Hi Rick, The 1.5" Threaded Multiport Valve for Sand and D.E or the Pentair Multiport Valve Kit 1 1/2" Generic Threaded (SM1-PP3) would be the correct replacements for your SM10-3 Valve.

(5 out of 5 stars) A must-have when upgrading a filter.

This valve fits correctly with a Triton TRC100 sand filter. I found out during a major remodel that the sand filter I had was way to small for the size pool I have. I replaced this along with the filter. This has all the settings I had before, just bigger. The 1.5 in option works perfectly with the existing size pipes I already have.

Overall quality is good for this part. I used this valve to replace and old valve to an older DE Filter from the 1980's? I had to cut off the unions to adapt it to the filter (different inlet and outlet spacing on the filter housing and the inlet and outlet pipes were reversed on the old valve to the new valve) but this was relatively easy with this model as there are straight sections of 1.5" pipe coming out of the valve body. This was far more cost effective than replacing the valve and filter.

This multiport valve was easy to install. It was a very good price considering pool dealers locally wanted to charge anywhere from $140-$160. It is an almost perfect match to our old multiport valve that has lasted 18 years.
