Can this work with a 56J frame? I need to replace the single speed motor on my Hayward SP2615x20 pump. As I read the reviews on the 2 speed units, they make sense, but seem like I would only use the higher speed at opening and backwashing - so adding another timer t my intermatic mechanical timer sounds like a waste of time and money. thx

Hi, Larry. This Dual Speed Canopy Toggle Switch will not fit a 56J motor. You can use either Part # 1011431-001 or 17590450 depending on the body style 56J motor you have.

If ao smith part # 2512558-001 is not available, which switch do I use?

How do I know if I have a controller, or need the toggle switch?

Hi, Herman. If you have a controller, you don't need a toggle switch and vice versa. You can look at the motor to confirm if you have a toggle switch installed.

Can I purchase just the toggle switch without the canopy kit ? Or give me apart # that would work I need to mount away from poll motor anyway cause of access to motor

Hi. Unfortunately, the toggle switch is not sold as a separate part.

Can you use this with a B2981 motor? If so, could you provide wiring instructions for this switch kit to the B2981?

Hello - yes this switch is compatible with the B2981 dual speed pump motor. We have an instructional guide on its installation listed here: How to Wire the 2512558-001 Switch to 230v Century 56Y 2-Speed Motors

Thank you for your reply. The wiring instructions you linked are for 230V, are they the same for the B2981 since it is 115V?

The wiring should be similar, but not exact. We do not have a guide on the 115-volt version, but the switch does come with a wiring guide for installation.

Hi, I just had a B2975 installed & on day 2 there is leaking & lower speed is not working. I had a B975 so is the B2975 the correct choice? I also wanted the energy star rebate & am not seeing this either. The low switch in the timer panel also suddenly becomes stuck. The pool suction cleaner (sand shark) now only works when BOTH low & high switches on my timer box are turned on to “manual”. They suggested now buying a hi low switch & new timer box, etc. Do I even need a hi low switch?
The Century 1.0 HP Round Flange 56J Dual Speed Full Rate Motor - B2975 is the same as the B975 Motor. If the pump is leaking it will create an air leak. If your controller is set up for operating high and low speeds the manual toggle Toggle Switch and Canopy Kit for 56Y 2-Speed - 2512558-001 is not required, however, you can use it if preferred. The pump in you images confirms a private labeled pump that uses the same seals as the Super II by Hayward. The Tune-Up Kit Hayward Super II - GOKIT2 or GOKIT2SALT for salt pools.
