The included instructions for wiring this toggle switch can be confusing. The following steps should easily guide you through the installation process.

Step by Step

Step 1

Turn power off at breaker.

Step 2

Loosen the screw from the black motor cap and remove cap.

Step 3

If the motor voltage lines have not already been fed into the motor, it should be done now. This will consist of 3 wires; two hot lines (red & black) and one ground line (green).

Step 4

Connect one of the hot lines to the L2 terminal. We used the red hot line in our example.

Step 5

Connect the ground (green) line to the green terminal screw.

Step 6

With the toggle switch in hand, connect the white wire to A to the terminal board.

Step 7

Connect the toggle switch yellow wire to L1 on the terminal board.

Step 8

Connect the toggle switch yellow/black line to the black hot line that was fed into the motor in step 3. You can connect the two lines using the wire connector that was included with the toggle switch.

Step 9

Place the toggle switch cap back over the motor and tighten the center screw. The screw from the original motor cap may have to be used if the toggle switch does not come with one.

Step 10

If not already done, attach the bonding wire to the motor's bonding lug. The bonding wire will either be exposed copper or a copper wire with a green sleeve. The bonding lug is located at the back of the motor and underneath the cap.

Step 11

Assuming the motor has been bolted to the pump housing, prime the pump and turn the power on at the breaker before starting the motor.

What if it's connected to a timer. My timer does not function now

I'm not sure what you want me to answer. It sounds like you need to get a new timer. Wiring a switch to a broken timer is not going to work.
