I currently had a 1 HP Hayward Pump (can not read the entire old label) and my question is if I can purchase a 1.5 HP pump to replace it and if so what would be the advantage of buying a 1.5 HP over a 1HP. My pol is rather small (15K gallons)and 7 roof solar panels. Also in the features you list that both the 1HP and 1.5 HP can support solar heaters but in your question and answer page you answer someone that it would NOT be suitable for solar heating system. Would you please clarify. Thank You

Hi Mike, For solar panels on a roof we suggest a high head pump and this pump is a high flow pump so I would suggest something like the PureLine Pure Water 1.5 HP Pump which would do a better pumping water up to the roof.

A  Answered on 5/28/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

If the 3/4 horse power was installed there per the builder then I would leave it as such because that may be what is best for the filter due to the flow rate. Now if you really want to step up to the 1 hp then you will need to calculate the feet of head to make sure that the filter can handle the extra flow rate.

Is there a 1 hp Pureline with the Century motor that will be close to a drop in fit? If not, any recommendations? Looking for single speed. Thanks.

Hi, Mark. This Pureflow pump and the Prime pumps are close drop-in replacements but not exact. However, will not perform as good as the MaxFlo pump. We do still have the Hayward Max-Flo Pump 1 HP Single Speed Pump - SP2807X10 which will be a direct replacement.

So this pump actually has about a quarter of a horsepower less than your current model assuming the motor on there is or matches the original specs that came with the entire pump. I would advise looking for any in-ground pool pump that matches the total horsepower of 1.25.

Hi Al, Yes the motor used on the PL1600 would be comparable in power to the U.S motors motor you have shown in your photo. You might even consider upgrading to the PL1601 1.5 HP Pump as it is only $10 more and would give you more output/gallons per minute.

The pump/motor is the same HP for the filter/cartridge > 1 HP too. My two questions are: 1) Will this do the job & be a great replacement? 2) Should I keep the HP the same @ 1 HP? Since this is the size they engineered for my pool....or should I install the 1.5 HP....is that too much?
 Reply

A  Answered on 4/20/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Greg, The PureLine Pure Flow series pumps a little less water than the comparable HP in the Sta-Rite Maxi II. Our suggestion would be to go with the PureLine Prime 1 HP as that will be more comparable to the output of your Sta-Rite Pump. Since this is powering the floor jets you want to make sure you have enough power to pop those up, so you may even consider the PureLine Prime 1.5 HP PL2602

Hi, I am looking to replace AO Smith pump motor with the model number 7-177474-01 and a pump model number 38448322. Will this motor/pump work? Plumbing connections same?

Hi, Jugoslav. Unfortunately, it will not. The Pentair Whisperflo Pump - WFE-3 is a suitable replacement.

what is the difference between this one and pureline prime beside the price difference.

Hi. The main difference is the performance. The Prime Pump will move more water than this pump.

Will this be a good replacement for my Hayward model C48D31AO4 (SP2707Z1M) pump #SP2707X10? My motor is going out,the pump is OK but is 8 years old and I think it would be wise to replace both as a drop in unit if I could afford the cost. What would you recommend ? Thanks

Hi, Alex. This pump will NOT be a good replacement. The Hayward MaxFlo XL Pump 1 HP 115/230V - SP2307X10 or the Pureline Prime 1.5 HP Pump - PL2602 are recommended options.

Hi, Jeff. The actual flow rate will be based on the Total Dynamic Head (TDH) of your pool.

Hi, Sally. Unfortunately, with the info provided, I'm unable to confirm if this pump will be a suitable replacement. You will need to provide us with the model or name of the pump housing or the Total Dynamic Head (TDH) of your pool.

Hello, I can look into this for you. What is the brand and the model of the entire pump you have?

I have a Hayward SP-2807 X 10 pump. The PL-1600 is said in FAQ to be a direct replacement for it. However, when I check flow rates, the Hayward pumps 75 GPM at 30 ft of head; while the PL-1600 specs show only 40 GPM for 30 ft of head. Won't I be moving roughly only half the amount of water for the same time and energy cost with the PL-1600?

Hi, Lester. This PureLine 1 H.P. In Ground Pool Pump - PL1600 will not be a direct replacement. I recommend replacing it with the Hayward Max-Flo Pump 1 HP Single Speed Pump - SP2807X10 which is the direct replacement.

Is this a good replacement for the attached image.

We would actually recommend something along the lines of the model 340038 as the total horsepower on your pump is 1.25 and the PL1600 has a quarter horse power less.
