We have a Hayward Super II Pump Model# K45N2N104 S/N 8B05, 2hp, 1.55KW, 230 volts, RPM 3450 56J Frame. Can I purchase a ECM27CU for this? It doesn't look like a fit for the round flange. I know it should be the right motor, but I just want to be sure before I purchase it. Can I return it if for some reason it doesn't fit?

Brad, This 2.7 HP Variable Speed Motor Round Flange P/N ECM27CU can replace your current motor. We also recomend getting a Tune Up Kit which consist of the replacement shaft seal, housing gasket, diffuser gasket and housing lid o-ring.

No, unfortunately, there are no variable speed motors that we know of that will fit the Hayward Northstar pump. There is a dual-speed motor that will bolt up with that Northstar pump.

3 questions, I think: 1) Can this motor replace the AO Smith SK1152? (1.5 HP) I don't see a compatibility list, or I missed it while searching. 2) Can you point all of us to a guide to choosing between the 2.7 and 1.65 HP versions--maybe a GPM rating or something of that sort. 3) Do you carry a pump/motor combo that uses this motor? If it doesn't fit my pump, I think I want this motor anyway. Thanks!
Reply
Hi James, This motor will not replace the SK1152 motor because the SK1152 shaft is keyed. The 2.7 motor has higher total hp and an interface with additional features. We have the PureLine PL2606 and the Jacuzzi 94026140 pumps that uses this motor.

Linda, Yes this will fit a Hayward RS2000 pump as long as there are no height restrictions (clearance above the motor/drive). Be sure to replace the shaft seal when replacing the motor.

I have a Hayward SP2607X10 with a 1HP motor C48K2N143B1. The motor housing is in bad shape – I can’t decide if I need a replacement motor or motor and pump – the pump appears fine.
I’m clear that I will to move to a variable speed motor for energy saving. I’m not wedded to Hayward. Will switching to a PureLine PL2605 pump provide me with anything different than if I went with the V-Green ECM27CU motor and stayed with the existing pump?
Thanks,
Lee.
Reply
Hello Lee, For a brand new SP2607X10 it would be 419.00, now for the motor would be 129.99, then the seal kit would be 37.95, and the housing would be 189.99 so if you are looking at all vs the whole pump; I would go with full pump. You would be replacing the motor, seals, housing. Still if the housing is the problem then that is just 189.99.

Hello, In order to find the correct seal kit for your pump, we will need to know the model number of the pump. You will only need to change the motor with seals, unless you have a crack in the pump somewhere.

Hello, You would need to change the seals with the motor. You would want to change any housing pieces only if they are broken. In order to find the correct seals for you, what would be the model number of the entire pump? If you are unsure, you can send a picture of the entire side view of the pump so we can identify it for you.

Will this motor fit the NorthStar wet end ok? Any issues with doing so? And before I drop $700 on this project, is a wet-end likely to last forever?

The variable speed motor replacement is the model ECM27SQU and if you click here you will be directed to the parts diagram for your model pump. Keys 5, 13 and 15 are the most commonly replaced seals with this pump. You will need the pump housing serial number to confirm which shaft seal you will need.

Can I use a ECM27SQU in place of a ECM27CU?

Unfortunately no because the SQU has a square flange motor face and the CU model has a round motor face. The model of the front pump housing that the motor bolts to will determine the motor that is compatible.

Hi, Michael. To determine if the variable speed pump is worth the cost, you will have to calculate the Total Dynamic Head (TDH) of your pool. An electrian is not needed if you know what you're doing. You can use our How To Wire A Pool Pump guide for directions.

You would need to change the impeller and diffuser if you are trying to get the full strength capacity out of the motor however that is a significant increase so more than likely you will not need that.

I calculate at 8 cents per KWH, at 8 hours per day, it costs $556/year to run this motor. Regal Beloit told me the alternative pump to use is ECM27CU which you have on your website for sale. Can you tell me:
1. Is this compatible with my Jandy Pump.
2. Would changing the pump/impeller reduce the noise/reduce cost of elec.
3. Cost to run ECM27CU 8 hrs/day at 8 cents/KWH.
Reply
Hi, Tony. Yes, this ECM27CU motor is compatible with your Jandy pump. Changing the impeller will not reduce the pump noise. Th is motor use 2.4 kW at max RPM's, so it will cost $1.54 to operate at $0.08 / kWh.

I have seen a recommendation to use the Tune Up Kit Hayward Supper II-GOKIT2 and also the Impeller 2.5 THP-SPX3021C. I believe both are Hayward brands. How is this used with the ECM27CU Century Motor if not a Hayward brand? Lastly, I don't understand how a variable pump saves money. If used at lower RPMs doesn't it take longer for the water to circulate effectively requiring a longer time and hence just as much energy? This may require a phone call, if so, let me know and I will call you.
Reply
Tony, Motors can be used on several different pumps, Kits and Impeller are used on specific pumps. Your pump uses the Jandy JHP / JHPU Series Pump Tune Up Kit - GOKIT77. A variable speed pump save energy When the RPM's are reduced water flow is reduced, however, the energy used is less. In some case, the extended run time still will be less.

Hi Anthony, I took a look at your last order and the 3 HP impeller you have would be just a little too strong for this motor. To use this variable speed motor on this page you will need to swap out your 3 HP impeller with this 2.5 HP Super II Impeller Kit also when you replace the motor you will need this Hayward Super II Seal Kit. Hi Bob, Thanks for the question and sorry about getting disconnected from chat. Hi, No I do not have an automated control system just a Intermatic dial timer that turns the pump on/off.
Reply
Thanks for the updated 69391 estimate. Is it possible for me to automate the system if yes then what would i need to do that?
Reply
Hi Robert, On board controller on the motor will allow you to automate the pump. For example you set when the pump comes on and off and you can automate at what speeds the pump runs at during different times of the day. If you want full automation where you would control things like your pool lights, valves, heater, spa, spa blower, etc.. from inside your house then that does get quite a bit more expensive. To quote we would need to know if you have a pool only or pool and spa combo. And which equipment you would like to control.

Hello Sunny. The Century Motors V-Green 2.7 HP Variable Speed Motor ECM27CU is a compatible replacement for the Hayward Super Pump SP2615X20. The flexible programming options of the ECM27CU will allow you to tailor a running schedule to address the two-story solar usage and decrease RPMs to conserve energy in times when solar activation is not desired. The fact that you have a 2.0 HP motor currently installed indicates a minimum horsepower required to send water through the two-story solar panels. It is recommended that the motor shaft seal, seal plate gasket, and diffuser o-ring be replaced concurrent with the new motor. The GOKIT3 contains the necessary parts to complete this project. Would like your input to make sure I order the correct variable speed motor?
See enclosed photo of exciting motor currently in use.
I should order V-Green 2.7HP - Round Flange 56J -ECM27CU?
Pump itself is Haward Super Pump 2.
I have new complete seal kit for the new motor installation.
Line voltage 240 Volts (no load)
Max amps = 10.8
Pool cleaning system Caretaker 5 Port w/ 1 1/2" supply lines
Average GPM per circuit = 60 +/- 1-2 gallons
Your thoughts please thank you.
Hello Scott. The Century Motors V-Green 2.7 HP Variable Speed Motor model ECM27CU is the correct model for the Hayward Super II Pool Pump. Your current motor has a total horsepower of 2.5. The ECM27CU total horsepower is 2.7. Attached please find an exploded parts diagram for the Hayward Super II. Please be sure that you have all the seals and gaskets contained in the GOKIT2 when replacing the motor. All parts contained in the GOKIT2 are available individually. Hayward Super II GOKIT2

Sorry to ask a question that might have been answered already, but I need to replace the motor for my Hayward SP2615X20. I was looking at the single speed replacement (UST1202?). Can you confirm if this is a replacement option and tell me if a larger impeller is also required? And would the additional cost be offset by lower electrical consumption? Thanks
Hello Bill. The Century 2.0 HP Round Flange 56J Up Rate Motor - UST1202 is a compatible replacement motor for the Hayward motor K48M2N111. The rated total horsepower of the 2 motors is almost identical, no impeller change is required. The Tune Up Kit Hayward Super Pump - GOKIT3 contains the necessary seals and gaskets to complete the motor change.
