I have the standard Kafko weir that snaps onto u-shaped holders on the skimmer. The door keeps popping off. I ordered the 4202-10 Universal Spring Loaded, however the diameter of the rounded part of the weir that snaps into the u-shaped holder was ¾”; the size of the u-shape holders on the skimmer will hold ½”. Do you carry this same weir with a rounded part that fits into the u-shape holder that measures ½”?

It appears the skimmer has already or was made originally with the weir that requires a plastic rod. You can either remove the blocks from the inside of the wall of the skimmer and install the spring loaded weir shipped, or order the weir conversion 4070-09 and you won’t need the glue or the blocks to glue to the wall. If you still have the rod order you can order 4070-06 weir without rod. The Kafko company now uses Hayward skimmers!

The history of the Kafko Equator Skimmer. The 4070-09 is the complete weir replacement kit, It’s called a conversion kit, but it’s a complete replacement. There have been 2 versions of this kit the original version which is no longer available included a weir, a weir rod, and 2 rectangular pieces of plastic with a small round hole in each. The rectangular pieces of plastic were glued to the sides of the skimmer mouth with rubber cement, the weir rod was then inserted into each round hole to keep it in place and the rod was inserted through the hole in the weir to keep it in place. The current version of the conversion kit part # 4070-09 uses the same weir but in this version (2010 and later) the rectangular plastic pieces each have a short circular male extension, the extensions are the same diameter as the original weir rod, which is no longer used.

Continuation of post below - The 4070-06 is the original weir by itself. The 4202-10 is a universal weir which is spring loaded. You put the weir in place and pull the tabs and the spring loaded rods pop out to hold the weir in place, this one is my choice. Either way, 4070-09 or 4202-10 will work, and the small rectangular pieces will need to be removed from the skimmer first.

Will this weir work on an old Hayward SP1070 skimmer? The original weir was SP1070-K and after a remodel cannot get the old bracket out.

I have the 8 1/4" http://www.inyopools.com/Products/07501352028765.htm#reviews I am on my second door and it falls off. Worried about spending another $30 or so for a door for it to just fall off as well. Not sure if it will or not. I see spring loaded options but I am not sure how they work or if they will work with my setup.
Any advice is welcome. Thanks

Hi, Will. The Weir, Universal Spring Loaded 8-3/8" - 25141-440-000 will work as a replacement for the Kafko / Equator Skimmer. It has built-in spring-loaded swivel hinges that locks into place allowing the weir to operate.

I don’t understand what it locks into. There are just the two u shaped connectors on the bottom of the skimmer that the flapper snaps into. What do the spring loaded pierced attach to?
Reply
WW, The weir will use the skimmer body to keep it in place.

Do the spring pins push out to the skimmer wall to provide a friction fit?

When we moved to our new house, the pool didn’t have a weir gate or jets in the deep end of the pool. I measured the skimmer and purchased the spring-loaded weir gate. Once it arrived, I installed it and now there is water movement in the deep end of the pool and any debris that finds its way into the skimmer stays there - thank you, weir gate!

Pros: Easy to install; works as it should.
Cons: None so far.
After a few e-mails with the tech staff, I determined this would be the best replacement weir for my application. I was initially confused as to which one to purchase, esp. after reading some of the other reviews on this product. It was easy to install and it has been working fine since then.

When I called the Sales Rep.Jason. I was not sure what weir to order. There was a choice of three. Since my skimmer is older, he was unable to find a cross reference to the number I provided. He did tell me that the Swimquip was the most popular and was spring loaded. So with this information I ordered this Wier. It arrivedin a few days and was very easy to install. I find the product to be excellent along with the service of Jason and IN yo pools.
