Part # 4070-09
Manufacturer Code 20-0010-1
Dimensions 8-1/4" W x 5-15/16" H
This is the "new Style" conversion kit as of 2010. There is no weir rod used with this and no adhesive is included. This package includes a weir and 2 small tabs with rounded extensions that fit into the end of the weir. The small tabs are attached using PVC Cement which must be purchased separately.
What is this conversion kit? Now I have the standard Kafko weir that snaps onto u-shaped holders on the skimmer. The door keeps popping off. I was going to try to order a new weir when I saw this conversion kit listed. With this conversion kit will I be able to use the universal spring loaded weir or will I need a new regular weir?

We do not reccomend the the conversion kit for this product. Our reccomendation would be the 4202-10 Universial Spring Loaded Weir which can be purchased through this link http://www.inyopools.com/Products/07501352028771.htm

The history of the Kafko Equator Skimmer. The 4070-09 is the complete weir replacement kit, It’s called a conversion kit, but it’s a complete replacement. There have been 2 versions of this kit the original version which is no longer available included a weir, a weir rod, and 2 rectangular pieces of plastic with a small round hole in each. The rectangular pieces of plastic were glued to the sides of the skimmer mouth with rubber cement, the weir rod was then inserted into each round hole to keep it in place and the rod was inserted through the hole in the weir to keep it in place. The current version of the conversion kit part # 4070-09 uses the same weir but in this version (2010 and later) the rectangular plastic pieces each have a short circular male extension, the extensions are the same diameter as the original weir rod, which is no longer used.

Continuation of post below - The 4070-06 is the original weir by itself. The 4202-10 is a universal weir which is spring loaded. You put the weir in place and pull the tabs and the spring loaded rods pop out to hold the weir in place, this one is my choice. Either way, 4070-09 or 4202-10 will work, and the small rectangular pieces will need to be removed from the skimmer first.

At the present time I have nothing--no weir and no rod to attach it to--just a big open rectangle where a flap should be. How do I know which of the three weir options do I need?

I believe one of these would be your best bet. Please click HERE to see the Spring Loaded Weirs. They have a spring-loaded peg that comes out of either side and "locks" the gate in. Please just look at the measurements and get the proper one for your application.

Dear Sirs,
I have 2 skimmers Equator/Kafko-Pondex, since 1992 at least, but still in good conditions, except the weirs. The skimmers have 2 u-shape holders. What weir reference should i order. I don´t understand clearly how to fit / connect the tabs weir or the spring loaded models with the u-shape holders in my skimmers.
Regards, Maria

We purchased this to replace the skimmer door that our dog chewed up when it was taken off for cleaning. It went on without a problem and is working fine.

Pros: Delived what I ordered
INYO delivered this product in a timely manner. The problem started afterwards. Removing the old tabs per the instructions wasn't very easy but can be done. Using PVC Cement was a joke did not work, use marine epoxy. Ordered two doors and one of the doors wouldn't even fit the tabs, luckily my old door fit the tabs. After all said the doors are working.
