When should I change the sand in my filter?

You should change the sand in your filter every 5-7 years. You can generally tell that it is time if your pool water is not as clear as it normally is or when you notice the interval between backwashes is shorter. You can use > this guide to walk you through it.

Is pea gravel necessary or could you use all sand?

Hello Wardell, The sand filter does not require Pea Gravel but it does help with filtration and removing the larger debris in the pool.

label on the TR60 say 250pounds of sand . Here I see 325lbs. Which one is correct.
What will be the reasons why the pool water jet are throwing a lot of air? When I open the filter air release valve the bubbles star disappearing but I close the valve air come out again. Thanks,

Hi Ed, If the label on your filter states 250 lbs of sand then I will go by that. You have an air leak, I would recommend replacing the o-rings on your pump.

Pipe wrench just to loosen the coupler
I ordered the filter and it came within 5 days. Started the install as per the instructions and it went very smooth and quite fast. The hardest part was putting the sand in the filter. Other than that is was straight forward and very easy.

Pros: Works great. Easy to install.
Cons: None.
Very easy to do and saved me hundreds of dollars of what my poolman wanted. I replaced an old TR60 with this new one so the piping was already done. Took me 20 minutes. Works like a charm.
