What is Service Factor?
Reply
Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.

Why do I need to purchase a new shaft seal?
Reply
We strongly recommend replacing the shaft seal. The purpose of a shaft seal is to prevent water from running down the shaft of the motor and into the motor housing. Water will damage the bearings and cause the motor to fail. A new shaft seal should be installed whenever a motor is replaced. The motor manufacturer can deny the warranty if the motor fails to due to water damage from a faulty shaft seal. To find your shaft seal you will need to visit our Pool Pump Parts Page or the Spa Pump Parts Page and select your make and model.

Why should I purchase a Tune Up Kit?
Reply
A Tune Up Kit includes all of the essential replacement seals and gaskets for the pump. The seals and gaskets should be replaced when installing a new motor on your pump. New seals will prevent the pump from leaking water or losing the prime. A Tune Up Kit will protect your motor and ensure that the pump is working efficiently.

The old motor shorted out and needed to be replaced. All the equipment is original (1993) for an Anthony DE filter system that still works OK, so I decided to also rebuild the pump assembly (impeller, diffuser, seals, etc.). After removing all the parts and confirming what I needed using the diagrams on the InyoPOOLS website, I ordered this motor along with everything else. The Inyo videos were instrumental in guiding me through the whole process. The new motor and pump work great, and is more energy efficient that the old equipment.

Received pump in a timely manner. Very easy to install if you take your time and follow the instructions on the video. I took the old pump loose and removed wiring. Took the impeller off and put on the new pump. Bolted new pump on and wired it back, said a little prayer and fired it up. Works like a charm.

Called and spoke with a support rep.
He told me I needed a new motor.
Shut off electric breaker to the motor.
Take a picture of the power wire and what terminals they go to
Disconnect wires.
Disconnect impeller assy - mine is a strap that I loosened.
Now you remove the impeller - put here is the kicker - it is backwards thread - not tighty righty - put lucy righty
Unscrew the four screws on the flange and remove motor from impeller assy.
Attach new motor in reverse order above.
When attaching the impeller, just hand tighten it - its made out of plastic and you will break it if you use tools.
Plus when you turn off the motor, the water will tighten it for you automatically.

looked all over for a cheaper pump and just happened to run across inyo pools.i gave inyo my #s and they suggested the pump i now have.i looked at you tube to see how difficult it was to change and between them and the staff at inyo ,it was a breeze to change the motor myself.it took me 45 minutes only because i kept going back to you tube to make sure i was doing it right.i cant thank the people at inyo for their help.it will take me 10 minutes next time..this is the cheapest place you will find your pool items and they are very willing to help you thru it ..

(5 out of 5 stars) Excellent Pump Moter Replacement
Reviewed By: PoJo from Clarence, NY ()
Pros: Awesome fit - excellent replacement
Cons: none
Tip to get the impeller off the old pump moter: use a 7/16" open ended wrench - it slides in near the capacitor on the electrical side... rotate the impeller until the wrench slides into place at the end of the shaft and then one person holds the motor and the wrench while a 2nd person loosens the impeller off with bare hands by turning the impeller counter clock-wise.

Pros: Does the job fit & function are good
Cons: Funky motor case extension block
Fit and function are great, except the afterthought of the motor case extension block could be improved to something more practical like a metal or plastic clip-on to the motor support. The adhesive on the provided extension block is useless. I had to shove the block under the motor case and hope it stays in place.
