I need parts for my filter valve. When I look at the filter parts breakdown, it gives me different choices. How do I know which one is the one I need?
Reply
In order to locate the correct parts we will need to know the model number of the filter valve. Two identical filters can have two different valves. Typically the valve model will be located on the label of the valve. If there is no model number on the valve, you can try to see if there are any part numbers on the valve itself. Once you've located you valve model you can check out our >Filter Valve Parts.

What is the difference between 261050 (HiFlow) and 261055 (Multiport). Do they both have the same amount of ports, and perform the same functions?
Reply
These would pretty much be the exact same valve the only difference is the 261050 is classified as a high flow valve. The 261050 valve can handle higher gallons per minute through valve and is also designed to handle higher operating pressures.

I need seals for a Purex Triton SM-902 filter valve. I only want to replace seals with out removing complete valve.
Reply
Hi Caroll - I beleive your valve should be a SM20-2 and not SM-902 as I show that there was never a SM-902 but the SM20-2 was used on the Purex Triton Filters. We do carry the individual Parts for the Purex SM20-2 Valve you should be able to the find any of the parts you need for your valve on that parts page.

Is this the correct replacement part for a Triton II fiberglass sand filter. Residential.
Reply
Yes. That would be the correct replacement valve for your Triton II sand filter as long as you have 2 in Pvc. If you have 1-1/2 in Pvc the replacement p/n is (261173).

Will this be a good fit for a replacement for the Hayward so 715 with. Triton 140 DE filter?
Reply
Hi Ed, Back in the day Purex / Pentair used Hayward valves on there Purex Triton filters however some while back Pentair started making there on valves. With this being said there are two valves which can be used on your filter the Hayward SP715ALL Valve or the Pentair 261055 Valve. The 261055 valve is a lot easier. There is a Slight difference in this and that old SP715 valve which has the pump and return ports one above the other. The 261055 will have them slightly staggered. The advantage of the 261055 Valve is that you won’t have to redo the plumbing coming from valve to filter. The SP715ALL Valve will have to be re-plumbed with new bulkhead nuts and pipe and the plumbing will have to be quite exact or the bulkhead nuts on the valve won’t match the spacing on the filter.

Why is water flowing out the back flush when i have it on filter
Reply
When water is flowing out of the backwash/waste port while the valve is in filtration mode, that's a key indicator that your spider gasket needs to be replaced.

I have a purex triton II sand filter. The Pentair valve model SM-20-3 and valve assembly model SM2-PP3. 50 PSI 125 GPM rating. Is this the right valve to replace my broken one?

I would suggest the SM2-PP3 Replacement Valve here.

I have a Triton II 60 sand filter. We currently have a push/pull backwash valve in place. We need to replace it every couple of years. I am in the process of changing my sand and noticed that the instructions to my filter state to "turn the dial of your valve to rinse." That was when I learned this multiport valve existed. Is this the correct valve to use? Where can I find out which ports connect to what plumbing? Some reviews I have read suggest the plumbing is backwards for some pools?

Connie, The 2" Threaded Multiport Valve for Sand and D.E (261055) will work for your Triton II 60 Sand Filter. The ports are label so that way the installation in done correctly.

Which multiport valve would I order to replace a Pentair 27-1140, SM10-3? It's a side mount to a Pentair Triton II sand filter
Reply
Hi There, The 261173 Multiport Valve is the replacement for the SM10-3 valve being used on a Triton II Sand Filter

Which of the ports go to backwash, inlet from pump, and discharge?
Reply
Hi, The backwash port is the port on the side by itself, the pump and return port will vary depending on the type of filter used. If the filter inlet is on the top then the top left port is the pump port and the return is the bottom right and vice versa.

I have a TR-100 with the push-pull valve and it is leaking pass the o-rings. I was going to replace and wondered if I should put one of these in instead.

Ive been trying to do the diagnostic on my pool issues myself. The pump does not fill completely, and I do not get more than 5 PSI in my DE filter. Ive had the line cleared with CO2, Ive disassembled the filter, cleaned and reassembled. All intakes are clear but still no pressure or filtration. Its now my thought that ive got a pressure leak somewhere. I'm grasping at straws now. is it possible that the multiport valve (origional part 14 yrs old) may be the cause. do you have any suggestions?
Reply
Hi, Bob. It sounds like you have a suction leak, not a pressure leak. You can review the steps in our How To Determine Why a Pool Pump Won't Prime and How to Identify and Correct Air Leaks guides for steps that you can to resolve this issue.

HI. The head loss is calculated based on the model of the filter and valve. If you can provide me with the filter model I can provide you with the info.

Multiport valve 261055. Can you identify the two ports on the left hand side of the valve. I took the precaution of marking them, then the rain came and washed the markings off and I cannot read the tiny markings.. They will be "Pump" and "Return", but which is which?
To confirm orientation can you provide photos of the two ports you are referring to? Provide several if possible. To supply photos click on the reply link below and upload your photos.

Look on the plastic they should be stamped into the plastic above each port.

The top one on the left is the pump.

Hi, I have a Triton II TR60 filter with a push valve. I would like to replace the push valve with your 261055 valve. My question is where does the bottom port of my push valve go on the 261055 valve, to the top or bottom port on the left side of the 261055?
Thanks

Hi, Ron. The Top Left Port is the Inlet, Bottom Right is the Return and the Waste port.

Since it looks like a common question when people replace an old push type valve with a multiport valve, could you please identify the corresponding 3 ports on the Pentair Push type valve and the 261055 multiport valve. Every one knows which is the discharge port the question is about the two remaining ports which is which in the push type and the multiport.
Thanks
Hi, Ron. The slide valve port (1) Inlet (2) Return (3) Waste for the multiport valve (1) Waste (Top Left ?) Inlet (Bottom Right ?) Return.

I need a new valve, Do you have one?
Pentair valve # sm-20-3
valve assembly # sm2-pp3
Will this work on a Triton TR100C sand filter? Also, what is the difference between OEM and Generic threads?

Hi Brian, yes this multiport valve is compatible with the Pentair TR100 model sand filter. There is no difference between the OEM and generic thread besides the fact that they are manufactured by different companies.

I'm replacing an older version of this same multiport valve. Mine is opposite orientation to this one (i.e., inlet and outlet are on the right when facing the filter and waste is on the left. The valve body appears to be manufactured to work either way. Is it field-changeable? Or can it be ordered in the opposite orientation?
Hello, I have a Pentair #261055 2in multiport valve that is leaking out the waste line when filtering. Is it the "spider" gasket that is failing? What kit would I need? Thanks
Hi Dave, the correct tune-up kit for the Pentair multiport valve part number 261055 is part number APCK1069.

I have an old Triton Purex multi-port valve. I don't have a manual for it. I believe it is a Pentair valve but I can't find any information about it. Do you know where I can find the manual for it? Also, should I use Permatex when I replace the gasket? Your video says to use it if the manufacturer recommends it. Should I use it? Also, what is the function of the half-inch plug on the side of the valve? Any help you can provide would be great. Thanks!
Hi Kenneth, You have the SM10-2 valve which was made for Purex by Praher. Here is a link to the Parts Breakdown of the SM10-2 Valve Here is a link to the Spider Gasket for the SM10-2 Valve. We suggest this Pool Spider Gasket Adhesive when replacing your spider gasket. The drain plug on the side of the valve is used when winterizing your system. Here is the Owners Manual for the SM10-2 Valve. I hope this helps!
