What is Service Factor?
Reply
Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.

Why do I need to purchase a new shaft seal?
Reply
We strongly recommend replacing the shaft seal. The purpose of a shaft seal is to prevent water from running down the shaft of the motor and into the motor housing. Water will damage the bearings and cause the motor to fail. A new shaft seal should be installed whenever a motor is replaced. The motor manufacturer can deny the warranty if the motor fails to due to water damage from a faulty shaft seal. To find your shaft seal you will need to visit our Pool Pump Parts Page or the Spa Pump Parts Page and select your make and model.

Why should I purchase a Tune Up Kit?
Reply
A Tune Up Kit includes all of the essential replacement seals and gaskets for the pump. The seals and gaskets should be replaced when installing a new motor on your pump. New seals will prevent the pump from leaking water or losing the prime. A Tune Up Kit will protect your motor and ensure that the pump is working efficiently.

I'm trying to find a replacement motor for my pool pump but my model number doesn't match what you have listed as the model number. My model number begins with a C48 and yours begins with an SP. Please help.
Reply
What we have listed on our chart pages is the pump model number. The model number you have will just identify the motor. If you look on the plastic housing on the pump there should be a sticker which will have the pump model number. You can usually find this by the discharge port on the pump. Once you locate it you can choose the correct replacement motor. Be certain to change the shaft seal and gaskets as needed. You can use our >How to guide if you need help.

It seems that I need to remove the motor from the housing to possibly remove the capacitor . Is this so ?
Reply
You should not have to. The capacitor should be accessible just from the back. It will, however, make it much simpler to work on if removed from the housing.

Need a motor for Dynamo 340103. Motor part number S48AA47A03R. Pretty sure the BN24V1 is the right replacement?
Reply
Hi KB, The 3/4 HP 115V Thru Bolt Motor will be the correct replacement for your Pentair Dynamo Pump 340103. BN24V1 is also one of the many alternate part #'s that would cross reference to this replacement motor.

When replacing the motor, what else do I need to replace with it? Do I need a new shift seal, etc.?
Reply
We do recommend for at least the shaft seal to be replaced but would need the model of the front pump housing that the motor is bolted to in order to cross reference that seal.

I need a motor with this specification motor mod S48B73A03 for pool
Reply
Hi Jorge, based on the Part# you provided, S48B73A03, the (3/4 HP 115V Thru Bolt Motor - BN24) is the correct replacement motor.

I have to replace this pool motor. Your recommendation is BN24 or BN24v1. What is the difference between theses pumps. Please recommend the correct go kit that I will need.
Thank you.
Hi Jim, This is the same motor if your order either motor you will be shipped the BN24v1 as that is the newest part # by Century. The BN24 was the older part # and the BN24v1 is the new part # based on a few minor internal design changes to the motor. The motor on this page is the correct replacement for the 193389.

Does the go kit come with the motor? If not which one would you recommend to complete the replacement job and if there is anything else I will need. Thank you.

Hi Jim, The Seal Kit is not included. For the seal kit could you give us the pump make and model information, common pump names would be Hayward Power Flo Lx, Hayward Matrix, Waterway Hi-Flo, Jacuzzi SLR, Sta-Rite JWP, etc.. To supply this information click the reply link below, also if you could send a few photos those are always helpful as well. We will need a wide shot of the complete pump to include the pipes going in and out of the pump. To supply photos simply click the reply link below and upload your photos. Once we get any of this information we can make the proper recommendation.

I have attached the pictures HAYWARD power flow is the pump. Can you supply a pump with the filter basket. Thank you.
Hi Jim, For the complete pump you can go with this Hayward Power LX 1 HP (the 3/4 HP is discontinued) or this PureLine Pure Pro XL 3/4 HP for the PureLine you may have to put some shims under the pump or filter so the ports on the pump line up with the filter. On either pump, you will need to rotate the discharge port from vertical to horizontal. We have instructions here on How to Rotate your Pumps Discharge Port from Vertical to Horizontal. If you still wanted to just replace the motor then you will need this Hayward Power Flo LX Shaft Seal

In my last message you recommended ( Hayward Power LX 1 HP ). Will a PowerFlo Matrix Pump 1 HP - SP1592 work with my system. Are the inlet and out let openings the same for both pumps. is the base the same so I can use it on the platform I have now. I would rather have a pump that allows for easier positioning of the discharge outlet. Thank you.
Hi Jim, The Power Flo Matrix will have the same port locations and base as your Power Flo LX and would work as a replacement for your current pump.

What is the replacement motor and pump seal for a MagneTek 7-193261-20?
So the seals and gaskets are actually dependant on the model name or number of the front pump wet end housing that the motor is attached to.
