Hi there,
I have a Hayward Pump, however its missing the pump label, stating the Hayward model. Looking at pictures online, Ive identified it as a Hayward Max-Flo Pump, self priming pump. The pump motor does have a label that reads HAYWARD MAX-FLO PUMP. In the past I ordered a strainer basket model #2800. The pump leaks underneath it, where the the motor meets pump. Id like to order a complete seal kit, including shaft seal, to correct this. Can you provide assistance ? Thanx. Frank

Hi, Frank. The Hayward MaxFlo Tune Up Kit - GOKIT1 is the kit that you will need for the Hayward MaxFlo pump that includes all the gaskets and pump shaft seal.

I have a Hayward super pump II that is leaking water significantly from under the motor and understand that I need to replace both shaft seals and potentially the o-ring on the diffuser. Is there anything else I would need to order?
Reply
I would recommend just replacing all of those seals and gaskets. Now if you have the Hayward Super Pump then the seal kit is called the GOKIT3 and if you have the Super 2 then that would be the GOKIT2. If you have a saltwater pool just add the salt to the end of the word GOKIT

Hi, Shane. A bad shaft seal will not cause the pump to shut off, it will cause the pump to leak.

I was gone for a week and when I came home leaves had badly clogged my strainer, allowing the pump to cavitate. The pump is now quite loud. Is this probably due to the shaft seals being damaged by boiling water?
Reply
Hi Dave, we are sorry to hear about that. Yes, the shaft seal depends upon water flowing to cool it, so the noise may be caused by the shaft seal being damaged - the backing plate might be damaged as well. Let us know what model pump you have and we will help you get it back up and running.

Model number is SP2610Z1MTG
This model pump may use the Tune Up Kit Hayward Super Pump - GOKIT3 or Saltwater Tune Up Kit Hayward Super Pump - GOKIT3SALT for salt pools.
