What is Service Factor?
Reply
Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.

Why do I need to purchase a new shaft seal?
Reply
We strongly recommend replacing the shaft seal. The purpose of a shaft seal is to prevent water from running down the shaft of the motor and into the motor housing. Water will damage the bearings and cause the motor to fail. A new shaft seal should be installed whenever a motor is replaced. The motor manufacturer can deny the warranty if the motor fails to due to water damage from a faulty shaft seal. To find your shaft seal you will need to visit our Pool Pump Parts Page or the Spa Pump Parts Page and select your make and model.

Why should I purchase a Tune Up Kit?
Reply
A Tune Up Kit includes all of the essential replacement seals and gaskets for the pump. The seals and gaskets should be replaced when installing a new motor on your pump. New seals will prevent the pump from leaking water or losing the prime. A Tune Up Kit will protect your motor and ensure that the pump is working efficiently.

I'm trying to find a replacement motor for my pool pump but my model number doesn't match what you have listed as the model number. My model number begins with a C48 and yours begins with an SP. Please help.

What we have listed on our chart pages is the pump model number. The model number you have will just identify the motor. If you look on the plastic housing on the pump there should be a sticker which will have the pump model number. You can usually find this by the discharge port on the pump. Once you locate it you can choose the correct replacement motor. Be certain to change the shaft seal and gaskets as needed. You can use our >How to guide if you need help.

I simply took a picture of the label and sent it to INYO pool and they emailed me a couple of mothers to choose from with detailed instructions , I even called to ask a couple of questions and the lady on the phone was so helpful

(5 out of 5 stars) Perfect replacement motor
Reviewed By: John M. from DeLand, FL ()
Pros: Great company to work with.
Cons: None
Great customer service, price and delivery. If you live in FL, use ground shipping and you will still recieve product by next day (if in stock). This is the high efficiency version of the motor I originally had. Works just as well as the original and uses less electricity to run.

(5 out of 5 stars) Great Motor
Reviewed By: Steve B. ()
Pros: quiet energy efficient
Cons: none
So far have had it installed for about a week. Replaced an A.O. Smith UST1102 motor that had bearings go on it. This new motor is VERY quiet, I also ordered a new impeller and the gasket kit to redo everything up to the pump. This was my first time doing it myself and it went great. The youtube vids from Inyo were a great help.

(4 out of 5 stars) quiet running motor
Reviewed By: tank from Kenton, TN ()
Pros: good fit, helpful videos
Cons: poor packing, inspect motor first
WATCH the video on replacing the pump motor before starting! They are very helpful. Motor was easy to install, direct fit with the enclosed 1/2 inch spacer block for older Hayward Super Pump. Get the tune up seal kit and replace when doing motor, not worth the hassle of having to go back into it. (Videos for this too) My only reason for not giving a 5 star rating is the 1st motor I received was locked up and would not run, bench test before installing. The replacement I received was fine, don't know when I've heard my pump this quiet!

Pros: quiet, great price
We ordered this pump as a replacement for our Hayward Super Pump II, 1 HP, which finally died after 8 years. It was an easy replacement and is super quiet. I upgraded the shipping to 2 day and called customer service right after I placed my online order. The rep I spoke with was very friendly and got it taken care of right away. My pump arrived on the day they said it would and it was quickly installed.
