I have a 38000 gallon pool. Are there any advantage or disadvantages to using the 60K unit over the 40K unit other than the price? Would the cell last significantly longer?
Reply
Hi. The major benefit is that the 60K unit cell will last longer than the 40K cell.

What is the difference between these regular and the heavy duty salt systems? Besides the $100.

The Heavy duty is the same system as the standard but with two main advantages...1. The warranty is 3 year on the Heavy Duty Vs. 2 years on the Standard 2. The cell life on the Heavy Duty is 10,000 hrs. Vs. 7,000 hrs. on the Standard. The extra lifespan on the heavy duty salt cell is due to more Ruthenium coating on the cell plates. Cell life works as follows, say you run your pump 8 hours per day and you set your Crystal Pure to 50% chlorine output then the cell will be running for 4 hrs. per day, thus using up 4 hrs. of cell life per day in this example.

What kind of electrical hookup does the unit need?
Reply
Hi Henry, This system can be wired 115V or 230V. If you wire it 230V it is typically hardwired. If you wire it 115V then you can hardwire the salt system or purchase this Cord with 3 Prong Plug so you can plug the salt system directly into a 115V outlet. With the cord I suggested you will need to remove the spade connectors and strip the wire about 1 inch, but it is very easy.

Can the cell be mounted vertically instead of horizontally?
Do you have 110 volt cords for this model?

Just two more questions. My plumbing is 2 inch and the salt system uses three inch. Adapters are supplied, correct?
And, I have a silver/zinc ionizer. If I decide to keep it should I install it before or after the cell and/ or flow switch.
Thanks,
Ron

Hi, Ron. This system includes the 2" pvc tail end which will be compatible with your plumbing. The ionizer can be installed before the cell and flow switch.

what is the difference between the regular and heavy duty unit, I am currently using an Auarite 40,000 gallons unit for a 25000 gallon pool, is the 60,000 too big? Do you make a 40?
Reply
Hi Terry, The heavy-duty system has more ruthenium coating on the blades of the salt cell. When the ruthenium coating wears off of the cell blades is when the cell needs to be replaced. The additional ruthenium coating means you get a longer life out of the cell (10,000 hrs. vs. 7,000 hrs. on the standard cell), the heavy-duty system also carries a longer warranty 3 years vs. 2 years. I do like going with the larger 60,000-gallon system for your pool as the larger system means you can really dial up the salt system when you have demanding salt conditions, however, most of the time you will be on a low setting meaning you will get much longer life out of your cell. We are currently out of stock on the 40,000-gallon system and that should be in stock in about 1 month, but I think you can't go wrong with the 60,000-gallon system.

looking at the pl7704 salt chlorinator
i have 35,000 gallon pool variable speed pump, in summer i run the pump 18 hours a day at a lower speed,
most things i have read is run your salt at 50% for 8 hours but if I'm running my pump at 18 hours would i run it at 25%??is there a calculation on how much salt should be made daily? or does the salt chlorinator have a timer where is only produces hours specified thanks
Reply
Hi, Jim. You can set the chlorine output at a lower percentage if the pump is operating 18 hours a day. However, with a variable speed pump, the operating RPMs will have to be sufficient to activate the flow switch. This system can produce 3.18 lbs of chlorine in a 24hr period or in super chlorinating mode.

Can you provide a link to the manual for the PL7704 Pureline salt system. I am piping in a new filter and would like to size it for the 7704. I have to wait to buy the system for a couple of months in order to afford but this is the system I want. I appreciate your help.

Hi, Gregg. The manual is currently being revised so there is no link at this time. For installation requirements, check out our How To Install a Crystal Pure Salt Chlorine Generator guide.

Does the piping kit include the 2" to 3" adapters for the salt cell?

Hi, Gregg. The unions included with this system can be used with 1.5 and 2" pipes. You will have to purchase pvc reducers separately.

I run my pump 24hrs 7Days a week 6months every year so how long will the cell last
Reply
Hi Scott, If ran the system at 50% production then it would run 12 hrs./day x 182 days / year = 2,190 hrs. per year. The cell has a 10,000 hr. life so at this calculation you would be looking at roughly 5 years. However you should be able to run the system much lower than 50% probably closer to 30% which would mean longer life on the cell.

We have @38,000 gal inground pool with 3 inch return line. Will 2 in salt chlorinator restrict flow?
Reply
Hi CJ, Normally the larger 3" pipe would be on the suction side and you would use 2" on the return pipes. If you do have 3" return lines then most likely any of your equipment on the return side of the pump like the filter, chlorinator, heater, etc.. will have 2" ports as I'm not aware of any of this equipment using 3" ports. Even the holes in the eyeballs will reduce down to 1". I think you will be fine with the PL7704 with your current set up. My pool has 3" suction and 2" return lines and I use the PL7704 and it works great.

If I am replacing a Hayward salt system with a T-15 cell with a crystal pure system, will I need to re-plumb for the Pureline cell or will it fit where the T-15 was? Also, will a Hayward cell work with the Crystal Pure system, as it still has a lot of life left?
Reply
You will not need to re-plumb for the Pureline as the cell size of the Crystal Pure is the same as Hayward T15 cell. The Crystal Pure system controller can fit with a Hayward T15 cell however since the cell plates are different sizes between the Crystal Pure and Hayward cell, means you may get inaccurate salt readings on your power supply when you use your Hayward T15 Cell.

I purchased the 60k crystal pure salt system. Does it mater which direction the salt cell is installed? (Not the flow sensor)

Just installed the 60k heavy duty. The salt reading seems to always read much higher compared to my test strips.

Tom, it is normal to see a variance of about 300-400 ppm between the Pool Salt System Up To 60,000 Gallons Heavy Duty - PL7704 and pool salt test strips. If the variance is higher than 300-400 ppm please e-mail our technicians at upload@inyopools.com.

Tom, there will usually be a variance of about 300-400 ppm between the reading on your PureLine Pool Salt System Up To 60,000 Gallons Heavy Duty and the test strips. If you have a variance above that please e-mail our support team at upload@inyopools.com.

Newly installed 7704. Salinity is 3600. Super chlorinate stetting-My output voltage is 21v and the amps are 5.69a. The cell is correct at t-15. That seems low. It’s working but I’m not getting output.

On the PL7704 what information is monitored/adjusted on the inside of the box (pictured with bubbles)? I'm unable to view a larger picture to get this detail.

Can I use my flow switch from my goldline aquarite if I install your new pure line system? If not, will the switch screw into the existing PVC housing tube?
Reply
Hi, Dan. Yes, you're able to use the Hayward AquaRite Flow Switch with this system.
