How many hours per day should I run my pump?
Reply
There are many factors to consider; bather load, gallons of water, pump horsepower, type and size of filter just to name a few. A good guideline is 8-10 hours a day. On the cooler days and early and late season, you can cut the run time down to 4-6 hours because there is usually less swimmers and cooler water requires less chemicals. In peak season, when it is the hottest, raising the run time to 10-12 hours per day will help to keep the pool clean and circulating during it’s time of heaviest use.

Can this be changed to side discharge?

You can rotate the PL1507 to side discharge by following this Guide on How to Rotate the Discharge on Pure Pro XL to Horizontal

Is this pump self priming?
Reply
Above ground pool pumps are not self-priming as an above ground pool water level is higher than the pump which by gravity will feed water to the pump allowing it to prime.

Will this fit Hayward sand filter?
Reply
Yes, the PurePro XL will fit Hayward, Pentair, Waterway, and most other large manufacturer filter models. For the 1.5 HP model, we suggest only using with 18" tank or larger sand filter.

Is this pool pump quiet or loud, 2 speed and can the discharge port be to the side instead of the top. Thank you
Reply
Speaking on a personal level. This pump is just as quiet/loud as any other 1.5 HP Pool Pump I have heard. Obviously it runs quieter when it is at a lower speed. This is a top discharge pump.

Does a ground wire have to be hooked to the pump?
Reply
The ground wire should definitely be connected to the pump and that is already built-in to the included cable. You may be referring to the copper bonding wire that would connect to the bonding lug on top of the motor. If your above ground pool is properly bonded we recommend bonding the pump. However, not all pools are required by local guidelines to be bonded. We recommend checking with your local codes to see if this is required.

Putting up a new 18' round for the family. Last pool I was not a fan of the single speed pump when it was time to clean or add chemicals. I was looking to piece together a pump and cartridge setup. I cant find a variable 1 hp motor that wont break bank, I was planning on pairing with a 100 sq. ft. cartridge off this site. Would this pump be to much?

Hi J, This would be a great pump to be paired with a 100 Sq. Ft. Cartridge filter and is what we would suggest for an 18' round pool. We will send you over a quote for the pump and filter.

1.5 H.P Above Ground Pool Pump Dual Speed - PL1507. Just want to verify that this pump is strictly a 115 VAC input, and both speeds work that way. Plus, can you provide the RPM's at each speed?
Thank You,
Jim Cam

Yes this is strictly 115V on the high and low speeds. The high speed is 3,450 RPM's and the low speed is 1,725 RPM's

I just sent an email to you asking about voltage and RPM on your pool pump, 1.5 H.P Above Ground Pool Pump Dual Speed - PL1507. I am comparing your pump with this one from Walmart,

Can you comment on why I should buy your pump?

Hi Jim, Yes this pump is strictly 115v as far as the pump on Wal-Mart I'm not familiar with that pump so I can't speak to the differences. I would say that if you every have any issues then we have a full staff of swimming pool and spa experts to help, where I'm not sure if you will get that level of expertise with Wal-Mart.

My above ground pool is 24 feet diameter X 52" deep. I currently have a 1HP pump which I need to replace. Will this 1.5HP pump be okay for my pool? I like the dual speed option.

Hi Irving, Yes the 1.5 HP Dual Speed Option would be great for a 24' Round Above Ground Pool.

Can I use your dual pump on a 12x12 30” pool.?
Pump/filter comb. that came with pool is not doing a good job with chemicals or cleaning.
