My Hayward 50 filter just does not filter the water and the powder seems to shoot through its only two years old and my pool is 15k gallons above ground
I did the following
1. Back flushed it
2. Replaced the check valve
3. Pressure is about 7lbs steady
4. Flow is good
5. Put 5lb of powder
Any recommendations

Hi Charles, I am assuming you have the Perflex EC50 DE Filter, if so then I would check the condition of your Perflex DE Fingers and replace any that are torn or damaged. Damaged DE fingers are typically the culprit when getting DE powder back in your pool.

Could a bad check valve cause earth to return to pool ?

Not typically. The most common cause of DE coming back into the pool is a broken ar ripped grid. The manifold could also be compromised, but that is less likely.

Hi Joe, A bad Star-Clear Check Valve (ECX4077B1) will not cause the filter pressure to run high. You probably need to have the filter thoroughly cleaned out or replaced.

The weight fell off my check valve will this cause a pressure problem? I have to keep bumping up the filter every few hours

Hi Chris, The weight falling off of the check valve will not create a pressure problem that will cause you to keep having to bump the filter. The flex tubes could be old nd need to be replaced or cleaned thoroughly.

Hi. The Retainer Clip is not available as a separate part, you will have to replace the Diffuser W/ Check Valve - ECX1256.
