Hi, Michael. Some have successfully repaired small cracks in their filters using various methods. It will be best to replace it, some repair jobs can create a larger issue.

I have a Hayward filter. The bottom has a major crack and I need a new one. I've attached a picture of the label on the top. Is it compatible with your product?
Hi Thomas, unfortunately, the Hayward Super Star Clear series filter tank bottoms are no longer fabricated with no listed replacement. You may be able to locate a used one somewhere or consider replacing the entire filter. The Waterway model 570-0525-07 cartridge filter is a suitable replacement option.

Another of those "is this the correct part for my filter?" questions.
I know the pool pre-dates 1998 but no idea if previous owners replaced the filter at any point.
Yes. Based on your picture this Pool Filter looks like it is made after 1998. And this would be the correct bottom assembly for your pool filter.

There should be a label on the side of your filter, could you supply us with the information from that label? Or there should be a part # embossed into the plastic end cap of the cartridge, could you supply us that information? Simply click the reply link below to provide the requested information so we may make the appropriate suggestion.

After replacing the bottom drain plug twice it still leaks now a lot when system is running. If it is over tightened it blow out under running pressure. Can it be fixed or do I need to replace Pentair Clean & Clear Plus Tank Bottom Assy.?
If replacement is necessary, do the black connectors simply unscrew so I can slide pipes into new unit and tighten?
I am considering doing it my self.
Hello Donald. From the information provided, it appears that the drain plug threads have deteriorated to a condition that is preventing a water-tight seal. There is no thread repair available. A Lower Tank Bottom Assembly replacement appears to be the solution. Pentair Clean & Clear Plus Tank Bottom Assy., (after 11/98) (178578) The Lower Tank Bottom Assembly connection points are compatible with the existing pipe connectors.
