Please note that capacitors store an electric charge and should be handled with the utmost caution and care. We do not encourage handling a capacitor without any type of safety measures in place and highly recommend contacting a professional service company for repair/replacement. For those that feel comfortable changing the capacitor here's >How to replace a pool pump capacitor. In order to match up the capacitor you will need more specifications on the capacitor. You will need to match the voltage, the MFD, whether or not the capacitor is a >run or >start type and the actual dimensions of the capacitor body.

I have a 2-speed Emerson spa motor and it won't start. Once you turn the shaft it will take off and run good. Is it the capacitor?

Hello Jerry - It sounds like it may be a start capacitor. You can use our troubleshooting guide to see if this is indeed the problem.

I have a red lion 1.5 hp pump. It won't start. I don't see anything wrong with the capacitor. The winding test OK. There is power 230 volts going into it. It ran one morning, and a few minutes later won't start. It does not hum. Wondering where the problem is? What to test?
