Is this ok for heavy salt water?
Reply
Hi Tom - This pump and filter system would be okay for salt levels reached by using a standard salt chlorine generator which is normally 2,500 Parts Per Million (PPM) - 4,500 PPM of salt. This system would not be designed for sea water which is normally around 35,000 PPM of salt.

Hi Scott, This pump and filter system is adequate for a 20' x 54" pool. We do not have this system with a dual speed pump.

How does this filtration system compare to a sand filtration system? How often is the filter replaced?
Reply
This will require more maintenance than a Sand filter. You will have to pull out the cartridge and wash this every 1-2 weeks and the cartridge will have to be replaced every 1-2 years.

Can this be used on a 15 by 30 foot by 5 feet deep in ground pool. Mine just arrived and I had searched on site for inground pump filters and this came up. Did not notice that it was for above ground. A 1.5 HP pump works great for our pool. Help, do I need to return and start over?

It is usually used for an above ground pool. The flow rate is low on this pump since for above ground pools the pump and filter sit right next to the pool so there is no resistance. The inground pool pumps have a higher flow rate because the pump and filter usually are anywhere from 10-80ft away from the pool so they are dealing with way more resistance. So to answer your question, yes, I would recommend returning and getting a more solid pump and filter combo.

Hi
My pump froze so I am thinking about replacing my whole system. I currently have a chlorinator. Can I use it with this filter? Thank you

Hi Karen, If you have an above ground pool then you could use this system, but this system is not designed for an inground pool. You will has some plumbing that you need to do to hook the system up to the pool and hooking up the chlorinator.

hello will this combo be good enough for a 12' round above ground pool. Do u know how many amps it pulls

Lynn, This combo is over-sized for a 12 ft round pool but it will work (for solid wall pools, not Intex). The pump pulls approx. 15 amps.

I bought this pump with the 15x30 oval pool. Which size cartridge came with this pump?

I am replacing an existing pump and filter system for an above ground pool. The outlet at the pool is a three prong circular type with a lock - is this the same type of plug?
Reply
Hi, Robert. The pump included with this system has a 3-prong standard plug. You can swap the power cord out on the pump motor.

Does that require an electrician or is it a pretty simple exercise? Are these types of systems comparable in their electrical requirement at the panel? 15amps or so?
Reply
HI Robert, Yes this is a simple set up for the pump as it comes with a 115V plug which simply plugs into an outlet, we would suggest a 20 amp breaker for the outlet the pump is plugged into.

What size sand pool filter and pump do I need for a 27 foot round above ground do I need

Can you start out with brown pool water with this system, or would I have to dump out my water and start over? Also, how much are replacement filters and how often do you have to change them?
Reply
Hi. This filtration system will be sufficient to clean up a dirty pool, however, if you drain and refill the pool it will less work. You will just have to factor time and cost to clean it up using the filter.

Can this be used to vacuum on waste if needed?

Hi Jaquelin, this system doesn't have a waste line however one can be added to the plumbing. Here is a guide that we put together called "How To Add a Pool Waste Line" that may assist.
