Hi Nelson, I think this would be a perfect heater for what you are looking to do and for your sized pool.

i live in the Shenandoah valley (mountains) and have a 32" round above ground pool, 4" deep. I have a Hayward salt system, what type of heater and size would I need to bring the evening temps to 85 degrees? Thank you.

Hi Jim, Based on your pool set up I would suggest a 266,000 BTU also since you are up in the mountains you will need a High Elevation Pool Heater here.

I am looking for a new heater for my 24' Round above ground. Have Hayward Propane h110, when it works, it is ok. I want to have more heating power and quicker. Not sure of elevation difference in NJ, would the 156a be more than adequate?

Good afternoon Jim,The higher the BTU's the quicker your pool will heat up. Also, a good pool cover will help in heating up your pool as well as maintaining the heat so you don't have to run your heater as much.

Hi I have a in ground spa connected to a pool in ground. The spa is approx 8' round measured directly across and only about 4' deep. Connections to existing heater are 2" connections.
Would this heater work to heat spa? And ok for a in ground spa?
Reply
If the spa is directly connected to the pool and the heater is a part of the pool equipment then you should be able to use if for your spas as well. You may need to have a walk through done with a pool technician to show you how to set up the valves in order to use the heater for spa usage.

Hi Nicole, technically yes you can but would need to get the heater converted to a natural gas unit. Cost-wise, this usually not recommended if you were purchasing a brand new unit so I would suggest considering purchasing a natural gas heater.

ok, I have a 32 x 16 x 52" saltwater pool. Will this be sufficient to heat my pool or should I look for something more?

Hello Mark. According to the dimensions provided, your pool has a volume of 15,360 gallons. Using the following formula: gallons of water x weight of water (8.33lbs/gal) x degrees of temperature rise desired divided by Heater BTUs = Hours to Heat, one can roughly calculate the amount of time required to heat from the current temperature to the desired temperature. The higher the heater's BTU rating the faster the water will heat. A pool cover will assist with heating the pool and maintaining water temperature. The Raypak 156A 150K BTU LP heater will heat the 15,360 gallon pool with the required investment in time.
