Will a gas heater operate at the low speed of a dual speed motor?
 Reply

A  Answered on 1/16/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Probably not - Most gas heater will shut off at low GPM levels (20-40) to keep the heater cores from overheating - 20 for 200 BTUs, 40 for 400 BTUs. Depending on your pool system you might get these GPM levels at the low speed but generally these heaters must be run at the motor's high speed.

What is the difference between an Electronic and Millivolt ignition?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/10/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

The basic answer is that Millivolt is the old style of ignition, using a standing pilot light. While the electronic ignition uses a spark start system like a gas grill. Electronic ignitions are more efficient in gas usage and also are better suited for high wind areas where a pilot light might get extinguished.

does an electronic ignition mean that the heater has to be powered by electricity...do I need and outlet in my pool shed?
 Reply

A  Answered on 8/14/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Joe S.

Yes this heater requires to be hard wired in order for the electronic ignition to work.

Will the delivery service place the unit in a attached garage? This is a new home with a concrete driveway from the curb to the garage.

Hello- Unfortunately, truck line deliveries are delivered curbside. You can reach out to the trucking company to see if they would be able to help you further, but it's not guaranteed and there may be an extra charge for it that would be your responsibility.

I have a 22,000 gal in ground salt water pool. Would this unit adequately heat the pool and would the cupro-nickel HE be recommended for this application? This unit would be replacing an existing raypak unit of the same size. Thank you.
 Reply

A  Answered on 4/21/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Scott W.

For that pool size, I would not recommend anything smaller than the 336,000 BTU model and yes, if you have a salt system you need the unit with the cupro-nickel heat exchanger.

Hi. All Raypak gas pool heaters are CSA-certified to the ANSI Z21.56/CSA 4.7 standard. The efficiency rating is not published on any of the Raypak documents.

When I look at the warranty it states that it needs to be installed by a licensed installer. I am fully competent to install this heater as good or better than a pool installer. Will they void the warranty if I install this myself?
 Reply

A  Answered on 4/5/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, DW. Your warranty will not be voided, however, installation errors or failures are not covered.

I have a 20,000 gallon above ground pool. Is this the recommended heater for a pool of that size?
 Reply

A  Answered on 8/13/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Steve M.

Yes, the  Raypak Heater 206,000 BTU's NG ELE W/ Cupro-Nickel Heat Exchanger should be sufficient to heat your pool, however, there are a number of factors that would help determine that. We would suggest reading our article "Sizing Your Pool Heater".
