Digital Controls
The Raypak Digital gas heater comes with a microprocessor based thermostat control. This control allows you to set your pool or spa temperature precisely at your favorite setting just by pressing an up or down temperature control button. The Digital display gives you a constant read out of your pool water temperature. Just set it, and forget it! Truly simple.
Troubleshooting a gas heater has never been easier. The Raypak Digital has on-board diagnostic controls that let the user and the service professional know what is going on with the heater at all times. In the event that you would ever have a problem with the heater, the digital display will show where the problem is in the control circuit. It's like having a service technician built into every heater!
The Raypak Digital is compatible with most major pool control and remote systems on the market today. Any two-wire or three-wire remote can connect to the Raypak Digital and be integrated into the pool control system of your choice.
Wind Resistant
The Raypak Digital has the best outdoor design in the market today. With over 50 years in designing and building gas heaters, Raypak has put all that experience into its newest heater design. No need for fans to combat drafting problems, the Raypak Digital was designed for outdoor installations with its exclusive low profile design. It is so thoughtfully and carefully designed it actually protects itself from the things that tend to stifle ordinary pool and spa heaters: falling leaves, wind, airborne debris, rain, downdrafts, updrafts, sleet, snow, etc. In fact it is so efficiently designed it ensures uninterrupted heating performance regardless of all but the most extreme weather conditions. Built Raypak tough. Built to last.
Cabinet
One look will tell you that the Raypak Digital is different! The look is contemporary. The design is advanced. And inside and out it's engineered to last. The attractive forest green and charcoal gray panels complement the latest pool and spa equipment designs. Raypak's original "pagoda top" design will keep the heater operating even in extreme wind conditions and downdrafts.
The Raypak Digital has a polyester coated, non-corrosive cabinet that is more durable than solventborne and waterborne coated metal cabinets. Every piece of sheet metal that gets powder coated goes through a 7-stage wash system making certain the powder paint has a perfect bond. Underneath the tough and beautiful finish you will find galvanized metal that offers superior rust prevention and years of durable service.
Non-Corrosive Waterways
The Raypak Digital incorporates the latest in header design technology. Raypak's state-of-the-art engineering department utilized the latest in 3-D computer aided design to engineer the part for optimal performance. Polymer resin headers prevent rust stains from harming your pools surface giving you years of trouble-free swimming pleasure
This Raypak Digital heater has cupro-nickel fin tube heat exchangers for added protection against aggressive water chemistry. Although rare, there are certain applications, like health club spa's, where copper is just not the best choice. Cupro-nickel offers superior tolerance to bad and fluctuating water chemistry, thanks to a harder surface and thicker walled fin tube.

Will a gas heater operate at the low speed of a dual speed motor?
Reply
Probably not - Most gas heater will shut off at low GPM levels (20-40) to keep the heater cores from overheating - 20 for 200 BTUs, 40 for 400 BTUs. Depending on your pool system you might get these GPM levels at the low speed but generally these heaters must be run at the motor's high speed.

What is the difference between an Electronic and Millivolt ignition?
Reply
The basic answer is that Millivolt is the old style of ignition, using a standing pilot light. While the electronic ignition uses a spark start system like a gas grill. Electronic ignitions are more efficient in gas usage and also are better suited for high wind areas where a pilot light might get extinguished.
Reply
does an electronic ignition mean that the heater has to be powered by electricity...do I need and outlet in my pool shed?
Reply
Yes this heater requires to be hard wired in order for the electronic ignition to work.

Will the delivery service place the unit in a attached garage? This is a new home with a concrete driveway from the curb to the garage.
Reply
Hello- Unfortunately, truck line deliveries are delivered curbside. You can reach out to the trucking company to see if they would be able to help you further, but it's not guaranteed and there may be an extra charge for it that would be your responsibility.

I have a 22,000 gal in ground salt water pool. Would this unit adequately heat the pool and would the cupro-nickel HE be recommended for this application? This unit would be replacing an existing raypak unit of the same size. Thank you.
Reply
For that pool size, I would not recommend anything smaller than the 336,000 BTU model and yes, if you have a salt system you need the unit with the cupro-nickel heat exchanger.

Removed old heater. Unpacked new heater and I needed to reverse the header pipes as mine are on the right side. Removed the top 8 screws and the internal 8 screws to remove the top fire cover. Removed both side panels with 8 screws per side and loosened front panel so I could reroute wires.
Removed the sensors and wiring to reroute. Removed the 10 bolts on the header and flipped it over to other side. Reattached the 10 bolts on both sides and torqued them.
Reattached sensors and rerouted wires. Reversed side panels and reattached with 8 per side screws per side. Replaced the top of fire box with screws and then top with 8 screws.
Placed heater in position and old supply lines were reattached. Old gas and electric lines fit right were they were originally. Fired right up. Great heater. Took only 10 hours for initial heat up.

First, I shut off the gas, electric and water to the old heater. Next, I disconnected the gas and electric. I disconnected the PVC (water) and removed the old heater. The new heater was placed in the old heater's place. The gas line lined up perfectly, so I was able to reuse. The electric required longer wires to be spliced in, so I added a junction box and made the connection. The water line required some cutting, measuring, etc., but went smoothly. After the connections were complete and the glue dried, I turned on the water, (fixed a minor leak), then turned on the gas (checked for leaks), and turned on the electrical. The unit functioned perfectly and we were able to enjoy a heated pool last summer.

Replaced my old Comfortzone with the Raypak. Seems very well made and the manual was easy to follow. No issues fired right up after installing. The grey/green paint colors make it blend in with my landscaping.

I have had a similar pool heater to 20 years but I love that this unit has the Cupro-Nickel Heat Exchanger. It will now no longer make a rusty film on my pool that would require acid washing.

so far, so good. heater came in 2 days from Fla. to Mi! Packed well with a tip meter. No damage, went in well, fired up first time....Appears very well made vs "other" heaters I've owned, which are MANY! More like a real furnace rather than the other most popular brand. I think the cupro nickle upgrade is worth the money. Inyo had the best deal, instock, and ready to ship.
