Can a PR266A-MP Propane Heater be converted to a PR266A-MN Natural Gas Heater?

How much power does this draw? Need a new Heater and considering switching my filter and heater to run in solar power.

Hi Shawn, According to the RP Series Technical Data Sheet this unit can draw 4 amp using 120 volts or 2 amps using 240 volts.

Can this heater be converted easily to natural gas?
Reply
Unfortunately the conversion of this heater from Proprane to Natural would must be made with a complete burner tray and gas valve replacement.

i live in kern county ca in the mountains we get snow. can 206000 btu lp ele #009224 work???

Hi Gerald, To recommend a Heater for you we will need to know the following information: pool surface area, elevation, zip code, gas type .

I have a Raypak 2100 Digital pool heater and when I try to turn it on, it reads PLT on the display. I believe this is a electronic function and I do not know how to restart the heater.
Reply
The "PLT" error code means pilot failure. The lack of spark may or may not mean an ignitor problem. I have seen the "PLT" code come up because the main valve in the heater was in the "off" position. No gas = no pilot. Have also seen clogged pilot-burner orifices. The lack of spark may have to do with water flow issues (dirty filter, clogged basket, etc.), or it may be a problem with the electronics of the heater. All of these (except turning the gas valve on) will require a competent service tech to diagnose.

I currently have a RP2100 pool/spa heater. I have NEVER tried to heat the pool, only the spa. Can I use a smaller propane/electric start heater to heat ONLY the spa?
Reply
Hi, Jax. Yes, you can use a smaller unit if you want to heat just your spa depending on the surface area of the spa. You can use our BTU Sizing Chart for more info.

I am replacing a Rapak 2100 Natural Gas 180,000 BTU so what is the difference between Mod# PR206AMP and PR206AEP? Does the M = Millvolt and E= Electric
Reply
Yes, that would be the difference between the two, but you would want the natural gas model either PR206AMN or PR206AEN.
Reply
Ordered your pr206aep from you yesterday, but I noticed this morning on your pipping chart, that 3/4" pipe is good out to 60'. The location of our tank will be 75'. Will this be a problem?
Reply
Hi Nick, Yes this would be an issue you would need to be below 60' using 3/4" gas line. Please note this measurement is from the Distance from Tank Regulator Outlet at your propane tank to the Heater Gas Valve Inlet. I would call our customer service department at 407-834-2200 to discuss options about your order.

your piping chart says maximum 60', I'll be at 75', is this a problem?

If I have a 24,000 gallon pool with 3/4 pool pump can I install a 266 BTU heater? I currently have a 175K heater on it's way out.
Thanks

Hi Mary, you can go with a larger heater but you will want to make sure that your gas line can support the larger heater. Here is Chart Showing the Needed Gas Line Size For Pool Heaters.

Looking to replace my Laars LIte 250K BTU MV with a Rapac NG electric. Two questions: is the electric 110 or 220V and can the plumbing be ordered or switched to be on left side of unit when facing controls? Thanks
Mike
Reply
Hi, Mike. The electric unit can be wired for either 115 or 230 volts, your preference and the unit is unable to be ordered with the water connection on the left. The heat exchanger can be switched in the field by a technician.

I have a older Raypak 185A that I would like to replace with a newer, more efficient model. Are my choices the 206A and 406A ? I would also be interested in knowing whether the dimensions for the piping on the newer models are close to the 185. I would obviously like to "plug and play" and not have to re-install plumbing, gas lines, etc.
Thanks - Steve

Hi Stephen, please see this technical data sheet where all dimensions for the gas line and plumbing are illustrated.

Does the machine heat both pool and spa at the same time?
Reply
Hello, if the spa shares the same plumbing as the pool system and possibly spills over into the swimming pool then yes this heater can heat both bodies of water.

Heater will not ignite. Message is "ILO" What does this mean.
Reply
ILO Ignition lockout - Propane units only. 1. The heater has performed too many attempts to ignite the main burner and will take a short break.2. Inspect pilot assembly.3. If pilot assembly is OK, then the culprit may be your PC board.
