I would like to replace my current heater with this unit. It is supplied with propane but I will have Nat Gas next year. What is the parts cost to convert? Also, this will replace a Ray Pak P-R405A. Is the wiring basically the same?
Reply
The Conversion kit for the 406 unit is only available for the milivolt unit and not the electronic ignition unit, you may view the conversion kit here http://www.inyopools.com/pool_parts_raypak_atmospheric_heaters.aspx (last part on the page - $125.99) This link has an explanation on the differences of electronic ignition and milivolt ignition http://www.inyopools.com/poolanswers_heaters.aspx#electonic_millivolt_ignition and if you would like to purchase the entire heater you may do so here http://www.inyopools.com/heaters_rpseries.aspx Yes this would replace the P-R405A and if you went with the electronic ignition version the wiring would be relatively the same, however if you went with the milivolt ignition there would be not wiring involved.

I've currently Zodiac 325 Btu Propane Swimming Pool heater Indoor. Will this replace the current I've have.
Reply
This would replace it and then some. You would get an extra 81000 BTUs. I would suggest checking with your propane gas company to make sure the line you have would be enough to supply the greater requirements of the larger BTU heater.

Pros: Price , releability, and long term maintenance
Cons: None
Replaced my 12 year propane Mini-Max. Easy install, compact, easy to read set point, and maintenance is very minimal. Also, the tech that installed this unit suggested to cover the heating unit from the elements when not in use to prolong life of heater from sun , etc. I had an extra gas grill cover that fit perfect.
