What is the Pentair Intellichlor Dummy Cell used for?
Reply
The Dummy cell is basically a cell with no internal parts, this cell is used during cleaning of the real cell. So when you remove the real cell for cleaning you would put the dummy cell in place of the real cell. After you have finished cleaning the real cell you would remove the dummy cell from the plumbing and place the real cell back in place. You may view or purchase the Dummy Cell here >http://www.inyopools.com/Products/03500001032551.htm

I have a pool that is about 10,000 gallons but I am thinking of buying a salt chlorine system for pools up to 20,000 gallons. Would the larger unit be a problem?
Reply
It is not a problem to oversize a salt system. It would take the larger unit less time to produce the necessary chlorine so it is actually more efficient. When the pool volume is very close to the capacity of the salt chlorine generator (for example, the pool is 18,000 gallons and the generator is rated at a maximum of 20,000 gallons), we would recommend going up to the next size generator.

Is the salt included with the salt chlorine generator?
Reply
No, salt is not included. You would purchase the salt locally and the quantity will depend upon the number of gallons of water in your pool. Use a salt that is at least 99.8% pure NaCl. The preferred salt is evaporated, granulated, food quality, and NON-iodized. Avoid using salt with anti-caking agents like sodium ferrocyanide, also known as yellow YPS (prussiate of soda). These cause some discoloration of fittings and pool surface finishes. DO NOT use calcium chloride.

I have the Pentair automated system, Intelli touch system i5+3.
I am wanting to add the IC20 to it but I would need wiring diagrams or pictures to make sure I hook it up correctly. If I purchase the IC20 from you would it come with those type of instructions?
Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve, This unit will include an Installation and User’s Guide which include wiring instructions for different set up including Pentair IntelliTouch, EasyTouch or SunTouch System.

What is the gph that my pump should deliver for a IC20?
How many hours should the system has to operate on summer, I am located at Laredo Texas

Hi, This unit can handle a max flow rate of 105 gpm or 6,300 gph. The average run time in the summer is 8-10 hours.

I have the SuperFlo VS 1-1/2 HP Variable Speed Pump 110V and the intellichlor IC20 with power center. Do I need to purchase something additional (i.e. Timer or automation system) so that the intellichlor will shut off when my pump shuts off?
Thanks!

Hi Eric, You can use a T101P3 to control the Intellichlor, the pump has a built in timer. The Pentair Easy Touch 4P or Pentair Easy Touch 8P along with one of the Pentair Easy Touch Chlorine Generator Accessories.

My interchlorinator (new) salt light is flashing between hi and low constantly and the flow light is on all the time. Salt and chemical readings are normal. Please help.

I would recommend giving Pentair a call, 800-831-7133, so they can help you reset your system especially if it is new.

I have a 12,500 gal vynl liner inground pool with a Pentair 1.5 HP pump and a Pentair SD-80 sand filter with a flow rate of 75 GPM . Was thinking of getting the 20,000 gal salt conversion kit, would this be the right one for me?? and if so could you email me a startup guide?

The IC20 would be a great salt system. I usually recommend a system that is twice gallons so that the generator does not have to work as hard and last longer.

Can the intellichlor be turned off, while the filter is running, so the water just flows thru? We have ours turned all the way down, but we still have too much chlorine in the winter when we need less chlorine.

Hi. To complete power off the cell, you will have to shut down the cell by either unplugging it from the power center or not powering the power center.

My pool capacity is 14,000 gallons. What size do you recooend?

Hi, Forest. This IC20 Chlorinator will be sufficient to sanitize your pool, however, when it comes to sizing chlorine generators the larger the better. The system will operate more efficiently and will last a lot longer. You can check out our How to Size a Salt Chlorine Generator for My Pool blog for more info.

Trying to figure out what the best Salt System to invest in would be: Why would I want to pay more money for the Pentair brand vs the Pure Line, when the Pentair has only one year warranty and the Pure Line has 2 or 3 year warranty? I just had a Pentair heater installed professionally by a local pool company. Inground pool, approximately 14,000 gal. I would love to go to salt system, but trying to do so on a budget - what's your recommendation? Are you an American based company? Thank you!

Hi Maria, Our suggestion would be the PureLine Crystal Pure Max as the price is much better and you get a better warranty. In our experience the PureLine Crystal Pure Max is every bit as good as the Pentair. We are a USA based company.

Our IC20 salt generator is about done. Do you sell just the generator and not the whole power system? Also is pureline interchangeable with the IC20, size and power source? Would like to save some money if possible and get a better warranty but our power source is fine. I'm good with most things but not a fan of messing with electrical stuff.
Thanks Gary

Who makes the best most reliable salt system for a 20K gallon pool?
Reply
Hello Bruce, for a pool under 25k gallons we would recommend either the AquaRite Chlorine Generator 25K - AQR9 - W3AQR9 or In Ground Pool Salt System 20,000 Gallons POWERCLEAN® Salt Ultra 320 - 52000-220-000.
