The manual says that a diverter valve can be installed for vacuuming to waste during heavy spring clean up or pulling rain water out of the pool. Where would it be installed? Do you sell this valve?
Reply
Yes we do carry this diverter valve which you may view or purchase through this link http://www.inyopools.com/Products/07501352023400.htm This valve has 3 ports on it, the valve would screw into the disharge side of your pump and you can have the handle turned so the return water goes through your filter or you can turn the valve in the opposite direction so the dirty water goes to waste and bypasses your filter, this is very helpful when vacuuming or for heavy spring clean up.

Can this pool filter be used for above ground pools or is it strictly used for in ground pools?
Reply
Yes, you can use an EC75 on an above ground. It would be over sized depending on the size of the pool.

Can this valve be used on a perplex ec75 for an in ground pool. It says on Hayward's site for above ground pools
Reply
Yes this can be used with in ground pools. The Perflex is most commonly (in smaller sizes) used in above ground pools. So I'm sure that's what they were referring to.

Is the tank only available for the ec75a?

This body works on the ec65 and ec65a as well. Here is the parts breakdown for these units as well. http://www.inyopools.com/pool_parts_hayward_perflex_filters_ec_65_ec_75.aspx

Re the warranty for the Perflex de filter. Is there a warranty? If so how long is it? If there is a problem with the filter can I take it to any Hayward dealer in the city where I live (Ottawa Canada) or do I have to ship it back to INYO Pools?
Reply
Will, The Perflex DE Filter 40 Sq. Ft. comes with a 1 Year Warranty. Yes, if there an authorized Hayward Warranty Center.

whats the difference between the ec65 and ec75 need a new filter want to up grade to the ec75
Reply
The main difference between the Hayward EC65A and EC75A is the effective filtration area. The EC75A has a larger filteration area meaning more time between cleaning the DE fingers. Also the EC75A has an increased flow rate over the EC65A (67 Gallons Per Minute Vs. 100 Gallons Per Minute) this increased flow rate will put less resistance on your pump meaning your motor will last longer.

Is there a way to clean the fingers or do they just need to replaced. I'm losing pressure after about 15 secs and thinking the fingers are clogged.
Reply
Steve, You can use the Filter Clean 1Qt to clean the fingers. Let it soak in the solution for at least 1-3 hours depending on how bad it is. After cleaning it if you're still having this problem you will have to replace the fingers.

Hi, My Hayward EC65A filter came with a 1 HP pump motor and i was thinking of replacing it with a 1-1/2 motor to increase the flow rate is this advisable ? Thank You
Reply
Hi Rick, Increasing the motor to 1-1/2" hp will work but reduce the efficiency of the filter ability.

Our 18x36 inground pool has a ec65-de filter, would the perflex de filter 40 sq.ft. be a proper replacement. are the pipe sizes the same etc.
Reply
Hi, The Perflex DE Filter 40 Sq. Ft. (EC75A) will replace the EC65 and the pipe size and set up will be the same.

I have a de7220 15 years young. It does a superb job of polishing my water and only requires backwash 3 times per year. however it is very heavy for me now that I am not as young. It is time to replace the equipment. Would the Perflex be an upgrade? Would it be lighter to lift the filter assembly out to clean. I was even thinking about two filters in series a sand pre-filter and then a DE to polish the water. Your advice would be appreciated. $ are not a problem. only weight and cycle time.

Hi. The Perflex will not be an upgrade but a downgrade from what you currently have. The tube assembly would be lighter to take in and out. Unfortunately, you can not use a pre-filter with a DE filter due to the filter aid that is required. I would recommend staying with the DE7220 to keep the level of filtration.

Would the PureLine Prime 1.65HP variable speed pump work well with this filter? I purchased the Hayward 1 1/2HP pump and looks like I need to return it for a pump that is 1HP. Pool is 12,500 gal. with 2" piping. Thanks.

I am trying to decide whether to buy one of these or a comparable pro grid. Hayward states that these filter down to 2 micron as opposed to 5 micron for the pro grids and that they require less maintenance. However, it would seem the pro grid is far more popular. Is there something I'm missing?
Reply
Hi, George. The ProGrid is more popular because of the versatile features using the multi-port valve. The Perflex filters although less maintenance is not fun working with. You're not missing anything.

Lennox, the system is plumbed together. Your competitor, In the swim, sells the plumbed system,E3120, EC75Afilter system WITH 1 H.P. PUMP AND MOTOR !

Hello, I have the hayward DE pro grid 24 s.ft. filter. It is 19 yrs old and the bottom tank cracked. I think it is too small for my pool anyway. Would you recommend replacing it with a perflex de filter or staying with the pro grid de filter? Which one is better and why? Should I even consider just replacing the tank bottom due to it's age? Thank you!
Reply
Hi, DD. The Perflex Filters are great if space is limited and does not require a separate valve. The Perflex filter uses individual Flex Tubes, which some find it difficult to deal with vs the gids of the ProGrid filter. The lower tank is no longer available so you will have to replace the entire unit.

How many pounds of DE should you use in this filter?
Reply
PRECOATING For EC75A Scoop 7 lbs. (3.2 kgs.) of diatomite into the system through the skimmer as fast as the plumbing will take it. Note and record the pressure gauge reading after the diatomite has been added. This is the "precoat pressure."
