I have a pool that is about 10,000 gallons but I am thinking of buying a salt chlorine system for pools up to 20,000 gallons. Would the larger unit be a problem?
 Reply

A  Answered on 2/1/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

It is not a problem to oversize a salt system.  It would take the larger unit less time to produce the necessary chlorine so it is actually more efficient.  When the pool volume is very close to the capacity of the salt chlorine generator (for example, the pool is 18,000 gallons and the generator is rated at a maximum of 20,000 gallons), we would recommend going up to the next size generator.

Is the salt included with the salt chlorine generator?
 Reply

A  Answered on 2/29/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

No, salt is not included.  You would purchase the salt locally and the quantity will depend upon the number of gallons of water in your pool.  Use a salt that is at least 99.8% pure NaCl. The preferred salt is evaporated, granulated, food quality, and NON-iodized.  Avoid using salt with anti-caking agents like sodium ferrocyanide, also known as yellow YPS (prussiate of soda). These cause some discoloration of fittings and pool surface finishes. DO NOT use calcium chloride.

Is it better to oversize or undersize the Hayward Aquarite?
 Reply

A  Answered on 9/25/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

It is better to oversize the Aquarite for two reasons. First, the salt cell will last longer because it does not have to run as long to generate the proper amount of chlorine. This will also lengthen the life of the cell. Second, if you under size the salt system you may have to add chlorine in the warmer months when the chlorine demand is higher.

Will the Aqua Rite work on a portable spa?
 Reply

The Aqua Rite chlorinator is specifically designed for use with in-ground pools, and will not work with portable spas or hot tubs due to its high output.

What is “SUPER CHLORINATE”?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/8/2013 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

The unit will run in 2 separate polarities and continually switch sides as long as the pump continues to run. The desired output percentage dial will tell the chlorinator how long to generate in each polarity, SUPER CHLORINATE simply tells the unit to ignore the dial setting for 24 hours and generate chlorine at 100% of its capability.

Do I need to change anything else in my system to make my pool a salt pool using this AQUARITE40000?
 Reply

A  Answered on 9/2/2014 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

No. The AQUARITE40000 is an add on to your current equipment. Of course assuming that you have sufficient flow to begin with but other than that with installing this will be all you need. Just add the appropriate amount of salt to the pool.

Is there any advantage in using the Hayward Aqua Rite system as opposed to the "generic" system?
 Reply

A  Answered on 4/9/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

The advantage to using a Hayward salt system versus a generic is that you would be owning a product that has been in the industry for many years gaining its reputation as a quality product. Not that a generic cannot be one but does not have the reputation and reviews gained over the years that Hayward does. Nonetheless, both items are designed to do generally the same thing.

Hello Keith - The Aquarite will work with a flow rate as low as 11gpm. As long as your pump meets that requirement you will not have an issue.

I have an Aquarite AQR15 that is less than 1 year old. I am getting a No Flow solid light on panel and my chlorine level was very low. 3 weeks ago everything was perfect. Is it under warranty and what coudl it be?
 Reply

A  Answered on 6/27/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

The no flow light could be from the filter either being old or dirty, or the flow switch being bad. Usually these models are warrantied for either 1 or 3 years. Just depends on the model. I advise you to try the filter troubleshooting first and then if the problem is not resolved touch base with Hayward at 1-866-772-2100 to diagnose with their tech support department. You can also get with a licensed pool contractor. Have the model and serial number of the unit ready if you speak with Hayward..

Hi, For the Aquarite system (35K gallon pool), my current plumbing is tight. I have 19" horizontal between the elbows and 24" vertical to the ground going back to the pool. Will everything fit? I have seen some yideos where they put the flow control on the vertical downstream of the cell. Is that ok?

A  Answered on 8/3/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Jason. Yes, if I understand your setup correctly, you can install your Aqua Rite with the Cell in the 19" horizontal piping going to an elbow and down to the flow switch in the 24" vertical before the returns. Make sure you have at least 12" of straight pipe between the elbow and the flow switch.

Hello Julie, You would not need to replace the flow sensor unless you are getting a NO FLOW light on your control panel. We would recommend replacing the entire system only if your control panel and cell are not functioning, as that would be the most cost effective option.

I have the Aquarite Goldline addition. The LCD display works and is showing 2500, none of the LED lights are lit. When I turn the unit on the red no flow light blinks which it always does until everything gets flowing, then it shuts off and the power led light comes on, then a couple seconds later all the LED lights go off but the LCD stays on still showing the value of 2500. Is this a symptom that the PCB is bad? Do you know the replacement for the PCB if this is the case?

My Hayward circuit board no longer shows any of the indicators The only light is the "no flow" indicator for a few seconds when the the pump is turned on. If the circuit does not show indicators, does this affect the salt cell from generating? Is there a test to determine if the salt cell is generating?? Not sure if I need what I need, a new circuit board and salt cell or just one of them. I replaced the fuse on circuit board, still nothing.

So it really depends on what sort of codes are coming up on your screen but take a look at our diagnosing/troubleshooting guide on an Aquarite and also this how to change the units of measure guide as well. One of these may very well be what you need to both diagnose and troubleshoot your salt generating system.
