Crystal Pure Salt System by PureLine
The PureLine Crystal Pure Salt System makes the process of chlorinating the pool a breeze for you. When your pump runs, you will be producing chlorine, ensuring a steady dose into your pool water. The more consistent your chlorine levels are in your pool, the fewer chemicals you will use overall. Free yourself and your pool guests from the itchy, dry feeling of regular chlorine. With a salt water chlorine generator, the water feels smooth and won't leave a white residue on your skin. The Crystal Pure generator cell easily plumbs in-line and has quick disconnect unions for easy access.
Crystal Pure Heavy Duty Vs. Crystal Pure Standard
This year we have added a few new models of Crystal Pure Salt Systems to our lineup and these are labeled as Heavy Duty. The Heavy duty is the same system as the standard but with two main advantages...
The extra lifespan on the heavy duty salt cell is due to more Ruthenium coating on the cell plates. Cell life works as follows, say you run your pump 8 hours per day and you set your Crystal Pure to 50% chlorine output then the cell will be running for 4 hrs. per day, thus using up 4 hrs. of cell life per day in this example.
Features:
Optional Add-On Accessories
This cleaning stand simplifies cell cleaning and eliminates having to soak cell in a bucket of muriatic acid solution. This Cleaning stand is used for PureLine Crystal Pure salt cells. You should clean your salt cell every 2 months to avoid calcium build up on your salt cell. By cleaning your salt cell regularly you will prolong the life of the cell. Also if you get too much calcium build up on the salt cell then the system will stop producing chlorine, regular cleanings ensure that your salt system will not stop producing chlorine.

Straight Pipe Place Holder - Dummy Cell
This straight pipe holder also called a dummy cell is used for several scenarios which we have listed below.
Winter: It is suggested that in areas of the country that you close your pool for the winter that you replace your normal cell with this dummy cell, the reason being is that the standard cell is expensive and by removing the standard cell you will prolong the cell's life.
Cell Cleaning: When you remove your normal cell for cleaning it is nice to have the dummy cell as you can replace the normal cell with the dummy cell so you continue to filter your pool while you clean your cell.
Spring Start-Up: The dummy cell is great to use during spring start up as quite often the pool can be quite dirty and you don't want large dirt and debris to get lodged in your standard salt cell.

I am considering changing my pool to salt water.
I have a variable speed pump that I purchased from you last year. I run this pump,24 hours a day with a very low flow for 12 hours overnight. Will I still be able to do this with a salt system?
Also, what is the difference between the regular and the heavy duty system besides the extra year warranty?
Thanks
Reply
Hi Clem, yes you will be able to do this with the set up you described. The heavy duty salt system has a 10,000 hour cell life, where the standard cell has a 7,000 hour life. The extra lifespan on the heavy duty salt cell is due to more Rithinium coating on the cell plates.

My pool is 24,000 galllons. Should I buy the 40,000 or 20,000 gallon system?
Reply
If your pocketbook can afford it I would suggest the 40,000 gallon unit as you can dial it down to a lower chlorine production and you will see much longer life out of your salt cell.
Reply
After you add the initial amount of salt, do you ever have to add salt again? Or do you periodically have to keep adding salt
I have a 27' round pool with half of it 6' deep.
Reply
Hi Garry, Salt does not evaporate out of the water so normally you are not adding much salt after the initial dosage. You would only need to add additional salt for some of the following reasons... water evaporation, party where kids are splashing water out of the pool, heavy rain, or if you have a leak in the pool. All of the above scenarios would mean that you would be adding fresh water back to the pool causing you to dilute the concentration of salt. Even in the scenarios I listed above it would be much less salt then the initial start up dosage.
Reply
Clarification to answer above: water evaporates; salt does not. Thus evaporation INCREASES the salt concentration in your pool. Adding fresh water to replace what's evaporated only restores the original salt concentration. There's no need to add salt in this case.
Reply
Hi, jstearns. The salt level will not be restored to its original level because the salt will become diluted when you add more water to the pool. The potency will be reduced.

If I buy this system and have problems with it who handles warranty issues??
Reply
Hi Don, the warranty on the Crystal Pure salt system is backed directly by Inyo Pools so you would deal directly with us, which is nice as sometimes when you get several parties involved the warranty process can take longer.

Hello All,
It is fairly easy for the mechanically savvy. Turn off the power! ***If you are not comfortable working with electricity, Then STOP now! You should have an electrician or pool repair company do this project!
I wired the system into the 220v timer for the pool pump. That way it turns on and off with the pump.
Most of this project truly is PVC plumbing. Pipes have to be cut and retrofit with existing plumbing.
There is no one story that will tell you how to do that, you just have to dive in. Make sure you use appropriate cleaner and glue. Measure twice and cut once. I used a miter box saw to make my cuts so it was a lot faster and had square ends on the pipe. Let the glue dry for an hour or so before turning the system back on!
Note: The salt cell should be the last thing inline on the return side.

We bought a new house in March and it had a pool. My mom wanted to make it a salt pool. So after checking, I found this system at inyo pools. The online instructions and tutorial helped make it so easy to install.
I purchased the plumbing I needed and started by cutting the old return line. Next I added the salt chlorinater and flow meter to the line. After that I used zip ties to tidy up the lines running to the control box.
Then it was time for the electrical.
I had an old booster pump that was no longer working so I wired the control box into this breaker. I ran the lines through electrical conduit and mounted the control box on the post. Once the electrical line was wired in all I had to do was plug the chlorine generator and flow meter in.
The install only took about an hour and a half. It took longer to add salt to the pool. Lol. After about 24 hours my salt level was high enough and I turned it on. I love the ease of care of our pool.

Received my pump and it did not come with a power cord. I bought 16 gauge wires and used the instructions to wire to the power of my pump. I mounted the unit right next to the power of my pump/timer. It wasn't too bad. Installation of the cell also wasn't too bad. Used a saw to cut the old tubings and bought some adhesives and was to connect the unit to the system. Plugged in and is working well.

Took roughly 3 hours from start to finish to install the system. Installed all plumbing pretty easy and had to modify the existing system to get the unit to fit. I had an existing outlet on the mounting post so instead of hard wiring to the breaker panel, I made an additional trip to the Home Depot and picked up a 3 wire cord with plug and installed to the outlet and picked up 14 bags of pool salt. Added the salt, connected the wire and let sit for 24 hours for salt to dissipate and glue to dry. Turned on system, ran for 24 hours and with minor adjustments my chlorine went from 0ppm to 2.5ppm.

Old Goldline salt system failed. Found perfect dimensional fit of the Inyo Pure Line cell using the existing plumbing with Inyo’s . Took old cell off and placed new cell without any alteration of the pipes. Changed the old flow contactor withthe one that came with the new system. How easy is that! New system up and running well. Control install was easy too. Used the existing wires. On top of that I saved serious money. DIY easy.

I thought that it would be difficult. I'm a 55 y/o woman who installed her first salt system. It wasn't too difficult. The hardest part was lining up the PVC. I had to cut a few pieces to get it all to fit properly. Installing the unit wasn't too bad. I figured out how to hard wire to my existing circuit and it works really well. Mounted the box on the wall, turned off the main electrical supply, added the wiring and installed all electrical connectors. It was a breeze.

(4 out of 5 stars) Great Value, Solid Performing, Easy to Install, Reliable, Requires Frequent Monitoring for Faults
Reviewed By: Inyo Customer ()
After converting to a saltwater system using this unit about 5 years ago, I can't imagine ever going back. It certainly is better than lugging around liquid chlorine. With the amount of sun here (Phoenix), if you use chlorine tablets, then you're going to be draining your pool yearly, which is also a pain/expensive. This is easily the best method for keeping things running smoothly with the least amount of effort. Installation was pretty simple, but I would have cautioned my earlier self to re-read everything twice as I would have originally positioned things more effectively. Only complaint about this particular system is that I wished the controller/power supply was easier to determine when the expected/occasional fault was occurring (high salt, no flow, etc) - like if it had an LED status on the top of it that I could see without opening up the box; or if it was Wi-Fi-enabled and had notifications to an app. If a fault does occur, I might not notice it until my next weekly chemistry reading, which causes a bit of frustration when you start having some algae growing and need to diagnose things. In order to track this, I ended up investing in some Wi-Fi-connected circuit breakers that monitor power usage and set up a notification rule to alert me if it's under a certain wattage. Recently, I converted the pump from a single speed to a variable speed unit. I started having frequent high-salt faults that would disable the unit whenever they occurred until manually power cycling the mode to clear, even if the detected salt level returns back to the optimal concentration in its own reading. Doing some research on this, I've found that if your variable speed pump is running too slowly, then the relatively low water flow is problematic for the unit and will trigger this fault, even though the flow is great enough to be detected by the flow switch that gets installed with the unit. After re-reading the installation instructions, I found that it stated in the case of a variable pump, the chlorine generator unit should only be powered when the pump is powered / they should both be wired to the same power source switch. When this is done, it has the added benefit of clearing any faults at each power cycle, but you lose being able to check for faults unless at the end of a pool cleaning cycle. Eventually, I might just change to an automation solution to help manage this, but I wished the controller itself was designed with some focus on having variable pumps in the mix.

(5 out of 5 stars) GREAT alternative to the popular Hayward Aqua Rite

This is a GREAT alternative to the popular Hayward Aqua Rite. it’s about half the price of the name brand and it performs just as well. I actually purchased a second one and installed it on a friend's pool. If you have basic PVC skills and general handy man skills this installation is a piece of cake. I have had my system installed for around 9 months now and has kept my pool “crystal” clear! Haha. Thanks. Pool Size (Gallons) 20x40 about 25k gallons

(5 out of 5 stars) Like the idea of the salt versus all the stuff I was using

The pool is 30k gallons. I bought a 40k gallon pump. Installation wasn't too bad. My kit did not come with a power wire so I bought 16 gauge wires and connected to the same power supply as the pump. The directions on the website were good except I wasn't clear why I needed a junction box so I didn't do it. The system has been good so far. I like the idea of the salt versus all the stuff I was using.

Easy replacement, as long as you have the right size legacy conduit. May take longer if you don’t have 1/2 inch and you’ll have to replace the conduit. I installed it a couple weeks ago and my water looks amazing. I believe this is better than the Hayward. Really liking it so far.

Very happy with the installation of the system. Took no more than an hour including wiring the control panel for 115V with a cord over hard wiring to box. Still working out figuring out the right setting for the salt to keep an even chlorine lever, but only installed it less than a week ago and it's a process.
