What is Service Factor?
Reply
Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.

I have this exact pump, and I want to know what other items I will need in order to hook everything together into
the part where the water is seen through the strainer basket. I want to replace all of it at one time and need to know
what other items I need in order to get my pool running again. Thank you.

When opening my pool from winter the slide pump won't work, if I switch on the pump there is nothing, no humming or other noise. I saw a email thread saying the impeller could be stuck or the capacitor could be bad. I inspected both: the impeller turns freely, the capacitor tests correctly and the motor is getting electricity. Is there anything else to check to save this pump/motor?
If I cannot is this the correct motor for a SP3215X20 pump? What special tools do I need to swap the motor?

Hi Bud, You may want to take a multimeter to make sure you are getting power to the pump. If you are then yes this is a dead motor. The proper replacement motor for your pump will be this SPX3210Z1MR 1.5 HP Max Rate Single Speed TriStar Replacement Motor. You will also need this TriStar Seal Kit outside of these items then no special tools are needed.

Thank you. I testing it and it is getting power. I noticed the original motor is 2hp versus the one your recommend is 1.5hp. I just want to confirm that is okay? Also I have the lube for the rings. Should all the seals still be replaced? Thanks

Bud, Nice catch... You will need this 2 HP Max Rate Tri Star Motor. You dont need to replace all of the o-rings but I would suggest replacing the Tristar Shaft Seal.
