Maximum Efficiency
New & Improved Design
I have a Polaris PB4-60 from 2010 that needs to be replaced. It is 1.5 hp. All I can find now are 3/4 hp Polaris PB4-60 pumps. Why? Do they no longer make 1.5 hp models?

Sean, Polaris PB4-60 Booster Pump only comes with a 3/4 hp Threaded Shaft Motor (B625), i don't think they ever came with a 1-1/2 hp booster pump.

I have a PB4-60 Polaris booster pump - can I just replace the motor as it's started making loud noise and sounds as if the motor is going out. If so, What do I need.

Hi Janet, You can replace just the motor, which will be the 3/4 hp Threaded Shaft Motor (B625). I would also recommend getting the Polaris Booster Pump Tune Up Kit.

I bought a new PB4-60 booster pump and hooked it up myself. After I turned on the power and the pool pump the new booster pump only made a very slight humming noise and then cut off after a few seconds. I replaced the capacitor even though the whole pump assembly was new but that didn't fix the problem. Do you know what I could have done wrong or is it possible that the new pump is no good?

Mark, I would recommend double checking the wiring to confirm if it was wired correctly. Also, does the shaft of the motor spin freely by hand?

Screwdriver, Socket Set, Wrench Set
The bearings were very noisy on my PB60 pump. Ordered new bearings, shaft seal and O-ring for a rebuild of pump and motor.
Upon disassembly, found previous homeowners had taken this apart before, lost one of the stainless 3/8 bolts on pump adapter, cross threaded another.
One of the C56 frame bolts snapped off, even after soaked with penetrating oil. Long story short, I purchased a brand new pump and motor from Inyo.
Probably would have had a better outcome if the previous owner didn't backwash the filter media directly on the spot where pumps were sitting. By doing so, bottom side of the pump motors were sitting in dirt/mud, which corroded the motor frame bolts on the bottom side. Steel frame bolts threaded into aluminum motor end-bells, once corroded, very difficult to remove without breaking.

(5 out of 5 stars) The zip is back in my Polaris
Reviewed By: Sevy from Mineola, TX ()
Pros: Lasts longer
Cons: Inital cost higher
After two years with a cheaper competitors pump, I went back to "all Polaris." The cleaner unit a Polaris 360 is 11 years old and it is still holding together. No tubes or O-rings have burst inspite of the pressure and flow rate of a new pump. Tech support at INYO convinced me to go back to the Polaris pump unit. My first Polaris Pump lasted 9 years. A competitor two years! Delivery was free and prompt. What more could one ask for?

Pros: Ease of install, quality of product
Cons: None
This pump was essentially the same pump that need to be replaced. It was easy to pull the old pump and install the new. One trip to Lowe's to get some PVC pipe and I was up and running. Very easy!
