I'm looking for a replacement for the 154710 sand drain, and was led to believe the 150055 Kit would do it. The parts are nothing alike. Is this the correct replacement part?

Hi Doug, Yes the 150055 Drian Plug Assembly is the direct replacement for the obsolete 154710 and 150053 drain plug assemblies.

it appears this is the one in my filter and its leaking. To replace it with the 150055 part is it neccesary to remove the sand and access it from inside the filter?

Hi Jeff, most often you do not need to replace any other parts of the drain assembly however it will depend on the condition of the rest of it.
