I need to replace my the capacitor on my 1.5HP pool pump. Do you carry the capacitor I need?

Please note that capacitors store an electric charge and should be handled with the utmost caution and care. We do not encourage handling a capacitor without any type of safety measures in place and highly recommend contacting a professional service company for repair/replacement. For those that feel comfortable changing the capacitor here's >How to replace a pool pump capacitor. In order to match up the capacitor you will need more specifications on the capacitor. You will need to match the voltage, the MFD, whether or not the capacitor is a >run or >start type and the actual dimensions of the capacitor body.

The capacitor I'm replacing from a STA-Rite (model XP-1241 120 VAC) pump motor is labeled as such: 20UF/ 330VAC 50HZ. What is a comparable sized capacitor you sell?

Hi Tony, The 20MFD 370 Volt Run Capacitor (RD-20-370) will be the correct replacement capacitor.

Hi Sherry, This capacitor is the correct replacement base off the info you've provided. If the motor is more than 5 years old I would recommend that you replace the entire motor.

Hi, My 2 HP Hayward SPX1615Z1MNS Maxrate Motor will not start, I can hear humming noise. Could it be the run capacitor problem? Or run capacitor doesn't effect starting the motor?

Hi Val, The Run Capacitor does not affect the motor starting just it's running capability. This motor does not have a start switch either so the windings are bad so you will have to replace the entire motor.

Checked my pool yesterday and found that my capacitor had actual blown up. Is this as simple as just replacing it.

Yes, Replacing a capacitor is quite easy. You will want to correctly identify and purchase a replacement capacitor from the markings on the shell. Here is a great How to video available on our website, How To Replace a Pool Pump Capacitor.

My pool attendant changed the capacitor on my old motor about three three times. He thought that the reason the motor would stop after 15 seconds was due to-a faulty capacitor.
He was not aware that capacitors come in all shapes, wastage, purposes and so on. ThenI called INYO after giving them the motor’s specifications, I received the correct capacitor. Unfortunately, the motor had a short, and that was the reason for the failure. Never discard the original capacitor if you have to replace it. The most important information is always printed on the capacitor’s surface. I call the manufacturer and them would not give me any information. Thanks to the agent at INYO I solved the problem.

INYO the only supplier I talk to that had the right information about the capacitor I needed. All other including Pentair and the motor’s manufacturers would not help me.
