After Market threaded black drain plug 1/4" includes gasket and is used on a number of common Hayward pumps including the Super Pump, Super II, Power Flo LX, and Power Flo II & III. This plug is also used on some pool filter valves; it fits the Poolco, Zodiac TM-12-H8, and Splash Pak & Flo Pro multiport valves.
where does this go on the filter.
Reply
Tom, The Drain Plug with Gasket is usually located in the rear or lower left/right side of the pump housing. For filter's it's located right above the sight glass on the multiport valve.

I went to open my pool today and this 1/4" drain plug is leaking and can't be tightened to stop the leak. Any suggestions if the female thread where this screws into is stripped? Thanks!

If tightening hasn't stopped the leak, the gasket or the thread is probably bad on the drain plug. Replacing it is the only way to figure out if the drain plug is the problem.

I have lost the drain plug and this is my serial # 36110CH can you tell me if this is the correct plug to order? thanks

Joanne, Unfortunately, we do not have access to serial numbers. Please provide the make and model of your filter.

I think my Drain plug is leaking but only when the pump is shut off. 1. Do I need to put teflon tape around the new drain plug? 2. Could the threads be stripped on the inside of the pump housing it self?
Reply
Hi Kelli, Teflon tape is not required because it has a gasket. The threads can be stripped if it's still leaking after it's been replaced. You can inspect the threads with your finger.

I thought it was a stripped drain plug, ordered a replacement. But it turns out the threads on the housing were stripped as well. I used several layers of plumbers tape, and it seemed to fix it. The dia of these are 1/2 inch btw, not 1/4.

these plugs are not solid plastic and can break leaving the plug still in the pump - hence why i needed to order more. this is a design flaw

Last summer the pump basket kept leaking at the drain plug; additional plumbers tape didn’t help; so in the fall of 2022 I ordered parts from Inyo to help tackle the leak; the drain plug solved the problem for summer 2023

Pros: Works great
Cons: Shouldn't over tighten no need to
I understand the need to use plastic and it's amazing how if you are not careful you can strip the heads when tightening. Note to self. Hand tighten with a 1/8 turn just until you feel resistance from the screw.

Pros: As described, just measure first.
Works as expected. Don't put up with a leaky drain port. Get this, and keep one on hand too.

Worked great, much better with an O-ring than the original rubber gasket.
