where does this go on the filter.

Tom, The Drain Plug with Gasket is usually located in the rear or lower left/right side of the pump housing. For filter's it's located right above the sight glass on the multiport valve.

I went to open my pool today and this 1/4" drain plug is leaking and can't be tightened to stop the leak. Any suggestions if the female thread where this screws into is stripped? Thanks!

If tightening hasn't stopped the leak, the gasket or the thread is probably bad on the drain plug. Replacing it is the only way to figure out if the drain plug is the problem.

I think my Drain plug is leaking but only when the pump is shut off. 1. Do I need to put teflon tape around the new drain plug? 2. Could the threads be stripped on the inside of the pump housing it self?

Hi Kelli, Teflon tape is not required because it has a gasket. The threads can be stripped if it's still leaking after it's been replaced. You can inspect the threads with your finger.

Drain Plug Not Tightening

Written on 4/20/2020 by Guest

I thought it was a stripped drain plug, ordered a replacement. But it turns out the threads on the housing were stripped as well. I used several layers of plumbers tape, and it seemed to fix it. The dia of these are 1/2 inch btw, not 1/4.

My gasket at my booster pump was leaking

This was a pretty easy task to accomplish. All I had to do was get a wrench to get off the old gasket and put the new one on

Drain Plug Damaged

Written on 3/12/2019 by Guest

The drain plug on my Hayward 1.5HP pump snapped off. I had to use a small sharp screwdriver to get a good grip on it and extract the old plug. Make sure you thread it with Teflon tape on the new plug.
