Digital Controls
The Raypak Digital gas heater comes with a microprocessor based thermostat control. This control allows you to set your pool or spa temperature precisely at your favorite setting just by pressing an up or down temperature control button. The Digital display gives you a constant read out of your pool water temperature. Just set it, and forget it! Truly simple.
Troubleshooting a gas heater has never been easier. The Raypak Digital has on-board diagnostic controls that let the user and the service professional know what is going on with the heater at all times. In the event that you would ever have a problem with the heater, the digital display will show where the problem is in the control circuit. It's like having a service technician built into every heater!
The Raypak Digital is compatible with most major pool control and remote systems on the market today. Any two-wire or three-wire remote can connect to the Raypak Digital and be integrated into the pool control system of your choice.
Wind Resistant
The Raypak Digital has the best outdoor design in the market today. With over 50 years in designing and building gas heaters, Raypak has put all that experience into its newest heater design. No need for fans to combat drafting problems, the Raypak Digital was designed for outdoor installations with its exclusive low profile design. It is so thoughtfully and carefully designed it actually protects itself from the things that tend to stifle ordinary pool and spa heaters: falling leaves, wind, airborne debris, rain, downdrafts, updrafts, sleet, snow, etc. In fact it is so efficiently designed it ensures uninterrupted heating performance regardless of all but the most extreme weather conditions. Built Raypak tough. Built to last.
Cabinet
One look will tell you that the Raypak Digital is different! The look is contemporary. The design is advanced. And inside and out it's engineered to last. The attractive forest green and charcoal gray panels complement the latest pool and spa equipment designs. Raypak's original "pagoda top" design will keep the heater operating even in extreme wind conditions and downdrafts.
The Raypak Digital has a polyester coated, non-corrosive cabinet that is more durable than solventborne and waterborne coated metal cabinets. Every piece of sheet metal that gets powder coated goes through a 7-stage wash system making certain the powder paint has a perfect bond. Underneath the tough and beautiful finish you will find galvanized metal that offers superior rust prevention and years of durable service.
Non-Corrosive Waterways
The Raypak Digital incorporates the latest in header design technology. Raypak's state-of-the-art engineering department utilized the latest in 3-D computer aided design to engineer the part for optimal performance. Polymer resin headers prevent rust stains from harming your pools surface giving you years of trouble-free swimming pleasure
This Raypak Digital heater has cupro-nickel fin tube heat exchangers for added protection against aggressive water chemistry. Although rare, there are certain applications, like health club spa's, where copper is just not the best choice. Cupro-nickel offers superior tolerance to bad and fluctuating water chemistry, thanks to a harder surface and thicker walled fin tube.

Will a gas heater operate at the low speed of a dual speed motor?
Reply
Probably not - Most gas heater will shut off at low GPM levels (20-40) to keep the heater cores from overheating - 20 for 200 BTUs, 40 for 400 BTUs. Depending on your pool system you might get these GPM levels at the low speed but generally these heaters must be run at the motor's high speed.

What is the difference between an Electronic and Millivolt ignition?
Reply
The basic answer is that Millivolt is the old style of ignition, using a standing pilot light. While the electronic ignition uses a spark start system like a gas grill. Electronic ignitions are more efficient in gas usage and also are better suited for high wind areas where a pilot light might get extinguished.

The Raypak 2100 unit I currently have, has a "pool" and a "spa" switch. Is this the same type of deal on Raypak model 010104, but digital? Can you heat both together, or only separately, or both?
Reply
Yes, this heater will do the same job as your existing heater. Instead of two dials for spa and pool, the digital board will control both. You can set one temperature for the spa and one for the pool. You can also keep both bodies at the same temperature.

I'm looking for a pool heater and I see one at kijiji but is already 4 years old is it worth to buy it?
Reply
Mario, I'm not sure what kind of Heater you saw at Kijiji and what price but with it being 4 years old it's not coming with any warranty, so that's a call only you can make.

(5 out of 5 stars) Raypak is a great heater
Reviewed By: Inyo Customer ()
After our first year of having the pool and only being able to enjoy it starting in July because the water was freezing, we decided on getting a heater. Most pool companies wouldn't even stop by for an estimate because we needed to run a gas line from the front of the house to the back, about 100 feet. Costs started at $5k not even factoring in the cost of trenching for a new gas line, so it was yours truly who had to do the planning. Searched all over the net and landed on Inyopools.com that had the best price and internet presence. Got it delivered and had some help with my kids to help me lug it onto a concrete pad next to the pump and filter. It's not terribly heavy, and I'm a relatively small guy and my daughter isn't an Amazon, so it's quite manageable for most everyone. Very long story short: I got the trench dug myself, new gas line and meter installed by the gas company, ran a wire from the panel to it and turned it on. It took about 15 minutes for the air to finally get pushed out of the system and I had a pool heater up and running. I purchased the cupro-nickel exchanger since I have a salt pool, and this would extend the life of the heater. I was betting on it taking a day or so to raise the temperature to 68 to 85 in half a day or so, but this thing had it done in less than 6 hours and I have a 30k pool. Needless to say I am very impressed with its performance. Just make sure you get a system that is a little bit larger in size than one that is smaller, you won't be disappointed with paying a little bit extra to get a unit that is more efficient. This unit is so easy to operate: turn the gas on, set the mode(it can be a spa or pool), set the temperature and it does the rest. The system detects the water flow and temperature, if it needs raised, you can hear the pilot clicking and turning on the gas. Once it achieves the desired temperature, it shuts off. Such a great buy from Inyopools.com and I'm very happy with the outcome.
