Is it advantageous to increase the horsepower from 1.5 to 2 or possibly 3 considering I have to replace my current pump which has failed? The pumps feeds a 24,000 gallon in-ground pool with a Jandy DEV60 Diatomaceous Earth filter on the return.

Stephen, Normally a 1-1/2 HP pump would be more than sufficient for a 24,000 gallon pool unless you have other water features like waterfalls, solar or spa jets. By increasing your horse power you will be paying more to operate your pump as the larger HP pumps cost more to operate. Also you would want to make sure your filter could handle the increased output of the pump, since you have a DEV60 which is a pretty big filter this would not be a problem. My general reccomendation would be to stay with the 1-1/2 HP pump on a 24,000 gallon pool.

I just replaced the motor and now I might need a new pump. Can I order just the pump without the motor. I ordered the motor about 18 months ago from your company. The pump is a jhp 1.5 stealth serial#106FC3630.

Doug,Unfortunately, you cannot order a pump without the motor. You can purchase individual parts for your pump (ie. your motor, impeller, diffuser, housing) but the mfg does not sell just the wet ends of the Jandy pool pumps.

Our jandy SHPF1.5-2 pool pump, almost 3 years old, just blew the Start capacitor (25UF) 2.5 weeks ago, the warranty repair guy replaced with 50 UF Cap. It worked until yesterday the pump made a humming noise then shut off. I hit breaker and let sit for 20-30 min turned breaker on tried to start pump on slow speed and smoke and burning smell from motor I immediately turned breaker off. It appears the pump motor is seized or broke, could this be due to 50UF instead of 25UF

Hi Jerry, Replacing a 25uf with a 50uf capacitor will not cause the motor to burn up like it did. It could have been something eternally tht shorted out the motor. At this point, you will have to replace the entire motor with the B2983 or pump.

Hello Joyce, the SHPF would no longer be available. We would recommend the Waterway Champion 1.5 HP Max Rate Pool Pump - CHAMPS-115.
