What is the difference between the GOKIT3 and the GOKIT3SALT?
Reply
The GOKIT3SALT includes the heavy duty viton and carbon shaft seal. The heavy duty seals are designed for salt chlorine generators and ozonators.
Reply
What is the difference between the salt kit versus chlorine kit technically speaking ?
Reply
Both Gokits will have the same items, except the gokit3 has a standard shaft seal made of standard rubber, the gokit3salt has a shaft seal that is made of VITON which will be able to handle the minerals in a salt pool longer.

My pump is not priming even after cleaning impeller. Will purchasing this kit aid in fixing that problem?
Reply
The seal kit can help with loss of prime. I can't guarantee that it will solve your problem. The loss of prime could be from an air leak at the valves or plumbing in front of the pump.
Reply
I purchased this kit for the Hayward SuperPump SP2610X15. The spring seal is of a different design than the one that came off the pump. The Original spring seal has a rubber section on the bottom and expands over two "nubs" that are on the impeller shaft, and accommodate a ridge/step at the base. The new one will not fit over the impeller shaft, and has no way to accommodate the step. Any help would be appreciated.
Reply
Hello Tom - It sounds like you still have a piece of the old shaft seal on the shaft of the impeller. The metal piece with the two nubs needs to be removed from the impeller. Once that is removed, you will be able to install the new shaft seal.

I am replacing my c48k2n143b1 motor and need a tune up kit for a salt water pool, what kit will work, i have haywood max flo 2800 pump?

Hi Doug, you would require the GOKIT1SALT which is the tune up kit for the Hayward Max Flo Pump being used on a salt pool.

I have a hayward super pump 1.5hp. On start up with in 5 seconds, trips the breaker. Ran fine last year. Noticed the white terminal connector is cracked and one screw is stripped. Could this be my issue or do I need to look further? Ran the mortor w/o the pump attached and have the same issue
Reply
Gary, If the cracked terminal and stripped screw are giving you a loose connection, you could be drawing excessive amps which could be tripping your breaker. Or your Motor bearings or windings could be going bad.

I have a SP 1607-Z1-M pump. I've had the pump for 5 years and it is getting very loud. Will a GOTOKIT3Salt kit help this issue and is it the correct kit for me?
Thanks
Reply
Bary- The GOKIT3SALT would be the correct kit to prevent leaking into the motor bearings. Unfortunately, it sounds like water has already reached the internal bearings on the motor, which is why it is getting very loud. To correct the issue, you would either need to change the bearings in the motor or change the entire motor with its replacement which would be the UST1102 A.O. Smith 1 HP Round Flange Up Rate Motor.

I have a 1 1/2 hp Hayward super pump SP1610Z1M. Which tune up kit should i use.

Will this kit work with the century ust1202 motor? I'm going to replace the bearings also.

Hello Craig - The GOKIT32SALT will work with the UST1202 as long as you have a Hayward Super Pump.
Reply
You're the only guys who have a saltwater kit. What's the difference and is this a must have for a saltwater system?
Reply
Hello Craig - The difference between this kit and the standard kit is the shaft seal. The shaft seal in the salt kit is specifically designed for salt water. The materials include viton elastomers, a carbon primary ring, a polished ceramic seal and stainless steel hardware. We definitely recommend this kit for salt pools.
Reply
If the salt kit is more heavy duty and made of viton material, can it be used with the standard chlorine pool water?
Reply
We have a salt system with a Hayward SP3010x15AZ. Can you tell me what seal kit we need? Thanks

You would need the gokit2 or the gokit2salt for a salt pool.

I have a Hayward super pump that has to be at least 30 + years old! I want to buy a new pump with a VS motor. Do you have one that matches up to the original so I do not have to change the piping? When I went to commission the pool this year, the motor was seized at the shaft. I was able to free the motor with a little persuasion and WD-40.
I converted to a salt water generator 3 seasons ago and never did anything to the pump to adapt to salt water. the pump seal did show signs of a leak
Reply
Ultimately it will depend on the total horse power of your pump but you may be able to use the model SP2603VSP Hayward Super Pump Variable Speed Pump, the Pureline prime PL2606 or even the Pureline Prime PL2605. Keep in mind that you do have an older design so there may be slight plumbing adjustments but not much.

What Saltwater Tune Up Kit for a Hayward pump with Model #SP3210X152 would you recommend? I need to replace my pool pump motor only (1.5 HP 2 Speed 56Y Frame). Thank you.

Hello Collin- There isn't a tune up kit for the Tristar, but you can purchase the Pump Seal, Extra Heavy Duty PS4280 (Saltwater Pools) - PS-4280 which would be the salt water shaft seal for your pump.

I have a UST1152, model C48L2N134C1. It is still moving water but is making terrible noises. I'm looking to replace it. What is the difference on the UCT1152 and UST1152? What else do I need?
Reply
The UCT1152 is an energy efficient model drawing slightly less amperage. Also, it is recommended to replace the seals and gaskets. In order to cross-reference which seals that you would need, we would need to know the model name or number of the front pump housing that the motor bolts to. If you do not have that information then you can send us images of that housing to upload@inyopools.com.

I have a 1 yr old UST1152(Century HST 150), that appears to have bearing issues. Last couple months i've seen small pool of water under the pump house, and when I replaced motor, I didnt use a salt water gasket.... Howerver, I want to replace the bearings(motor runs fine, just loud whine), but I cant find my pump house listed here. See photo of the model # that's on the housing... I want to get the correct goKit for this.. additional pix is my current motor.
how do you disassemble the pump motor form the pump

Hi, Ray. You can check out Inyo's How To Replace the Motor on Your Pool Pump guide for instructions.

I bought the UCT1102 a couple of years back and it has worked fine but this year it is buzzing, still pumping water but I also see a leak from underneath which sounds like a bad shaft seal so I presume I need to install another Saltwater tuneup kit. What about a bearing as well? Is that was is causing the buzzing?
Thanks.
Reply
Loud noises coming from the pump are usually the motor bearings and if you see leaking then ideally a new seal kit or shaft seal may need to be replaced. These are the most common causes and resolutions for what you are describing but may need a further inspection to confirm.
Reply
I have a question regarding replacement motors. I keep hearing people say you have
to buy go-kits when replacing motor. I understand that you should replace the housing
gasket and impeller seal. But i find it very HARD to believe you would have to replace the
shaft seal. If the replacement motor is brand NEW why in the world would you replace the shat seal
on a new motor. ????????
Reply
The shaft seal is the most important seal to replace because it is the seal that keeps the water from making contact with the face of the electrical motor. If that seal is bad it can cause the motor bearings to fail and the motor to go bad prematurely to the average lifespan of the motor.

I'm looking to replace a Hayward Super II self-priming pump motor for my primary filtration. Model # C8L2N134B3. I'm thinking of converting to salt this spring, but not sure. If I stay with Chlorine, are those gaskets fine in salt water system? As long as I have it apart, should I order an impeller? Do they go bad often?
Also, I'm looking to replace my booster pump for robot vacuum, please recommend the proper replacement and any kits needed.
Hi, Rick. Based on the info provided, you will need the Hayward Super II Pump Tune Up Kit - GOKIT2SALT which can be used for either application. Impellers will go bad over time, the one you will need is P/N SPX3010C along with the Impeller Ring - SPX3005R. Booster pumps are based on the cleaner hat you have, please provide the cleaner model.

I have a Hayward pump Model No SP2605X7 which has a replacement motor Century HST 110. The pump is pumping just fine, but the motor is emitting a high pitched whine constantly, which is very annoying. Do I need to replace the motor? I assume that I need the Saltwater Tune Up Kit as well. I Also assume the whine is from the motor bearing, can it be replaced? What do you recommend? I'm attaching pictures.
Hi John, The whining noise is a sign that the bearings are going bad and typically the motor does not have much more life after this. We would suggest replacing your HST110 motor with this UST1102 Pool Motor and yes you will need the GOKIT3SALT Hayward Super Pump Salt Seal Kit We put together this Video on How to Replace a Pool Pump Motor which you may find helpful when you tackle this project.

Do you ship to, or have partners in Europe. I live in France.

The SP2602VSP will actually require this 2.7 HP Vgreen VSP Motor and this Hayward Super Pump Tune Up Kit. Please note that if you have an Automated Control System like the Hayward Pro Logic then you can not control the RPM's of the motor directly from the Pro Logic as all of the programming will be done directly on the onboard controller of the motor. I replaced my pump motor last year and used the standard Tune Up Kit Hayward Super Pump - GOKIT3. At the time, I did not have a saltwater system but I am switching now. Looking at this kit, it appears that most of the components are the exact same. I do see an extra gasket and I am guessing the pump seal is different. If I have a Hayward Super Pump SP2607X10 and I am using an “aftermarket” pump motor (for instance, Pureline PL2518), does it matter what shaft seal is used? In other words, do “aftermarket” pump motor mfg’s use different motor shafts sizes on their motors than the original pump mfg’s? Or, are “aftermarket” motor mfg’s required to use specific size motor shafts for the respective pump applications they are spec’d for?
Hi Jeffrey, the seal kits are specific to the pumps and not the motors - and all of the motors are manufactured to the same specifications as the original equipment. This GoKit3Salt will work perfectly with your new motor on your Hayward Super Pump.
