How would I go about changing an above ground pool from chlorine to salt water? Can it be done?
 Reply

A  Answered on 4/30/2007 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Yes this can be done. You would add the appropriate amount of salt to your pool according to the owner's manual. Once the salt chlorinator is installed the salt water which passes through the salt cell will create chlorine which is sent back to the pool, so you will actually be manufacturing your own chlorine. On most pools you want to maintain a Chlorine level of 3.0 PPM (Parts Per Million) so the first week or so you will be testing the water to try to get the unit dialed into the correct setting to maintain the 3.0 PPM of chlorine. Once you get the salt chlorinator dialed into the proper setting that is it. The nice thing about the salt chlorinators is that the amount of salt needed to maintain the pool is below the taste threshold so will not taste salt in the water of the pool.

Unfortunately the CL01 will not work on a soft sided pool, for a soft sided pool we would suggest our solar powered salt chlorinator here >http://www.inyopools.com/Products/00100007061793.htm

Functionally, both CL01 and CL02 generate chlorine for up to 18,000 gal AG pools. The CL02 adds an LED status indicator, an on/off control switch, and an on/off cycle.

Mark, This ChlorEase Salt Chlorine Generator for A/G Pools requires a salt level of 3400-4000ppm. If you're starting from 0ppm which you will not, you'll need 335lbs of salt. Get your water tested first to be sure.

Hi, The ChlorEase Salt Chlorine Generator A/G Pools would not be recommended for a 310 gal spa. We do not have any salt system that can be used in a body of water that size.

V, Unplug the unit and verify that you have power at the socket. Use a voltmeter to determine that you have 115vac output from the socket. If a voltmeter is not available, use a lamp or other appliance to verify that there is enough voltage being supplied to the socket. If there is no supply voltage, either repair the socket or plug the ChlorEase in elsewhere. If the socket is active, call 1-561-805-7778 for service.

Does this unit have a cell that has to be cleaned if you have high limestone concentrations in your water?
 Reply

A  Answered on 8/25/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Stacey M.

Hello, you can click here to read manual, Removing Scale from Elements Unsnap chlorinating cell from housing. Fill a deep container such as the milk carton with ChlorEase Clean or a similar mildly acidic product. Immerse the chlorinating cell only (NOT the housing) and let it set for 45 minutes. Hose off and inspect cell. All scale (cake-like white mineral buildup) should have dissolved. If scale remains, change cleaning solution and repeat process. DO NOT SCRAPE SCALE WITH ANY TYPE OF TOOLS OR BRUSHES AS IT WILL DAMAGE TITANIUM COATING AND VOID WARRANTY!

The indicator ( red led) in my smart pool system is blinking all the time when it is on. I cleaned the system as in the instructions. The salt level is O.k. .The chlorine generation is o.k.' just the led is blinking red instead of being green. What could be the problem?

A  Answered on 9/14/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Stacey M.

Hello David, normally when red light is on • Calcium build up on cell; refer to cleaning cell • ChlorEase is out of water. Place back in water immediately Or salt level needs to be adjusted. If you would like to talk to a tech 732-730-9880.

How much salt do I need for a 15,292 gallon size pool and do I need to add shock treatment before adding salt?
 Reply

A  Answered on 6/11/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

The amount of salt needed will depend on current amount of salt in the water so please click here to view a chart that will advise how much salt to add. It is on page 4. Also it would be wise to shock the pool if the pool needs it before getting the system started.
