how do I know which lid is the proper one. the old style of new style.

Nancy, the lid style is determined by the type of lock ring that holds it to the strainer pot. If your pump has a plastic lock ring, like the 5106-01 then you need the new style. If your ring is the clamp part number 5105-15 then you need the old style lid

The old lid I have has some cracks in it so I want to replace it. It has a plastic lock ring also. How do I get the old lid out of the one piece lock ring ? It seems like they are one unit.

Hi Dave, You will have to pry the tab without breaking or damaging them in order to remove Lid from the Locking Ring.

I need a basket that goes inside the filter system. This lid and it's number are the only part number I can locate. The piece that had the part number on the basket broke.

Hi, Steve. The Ultra-Flo Pump Basket - V38-185 is the basket that goes with the strainer for this lid.

Hi, I am hoping that you can help me. My pool guy said that my Rainbow leaf canister lid has a crack in it. He said that is the same as American products ultra flo pump lid - part number 393017. Would you have this part in stock?
Thank you for your time and help. John

Hi. None of the Rainbow Leaf Canister utilizes the same lid as the Ultra Flo Pump lid. This lid does not have a port for the hose. You can view the available replacement lid for the Rainbow Leaf Trap based on the model you have; Rainbow Leaf Trap - Models 179 & 179C, Rainbow Leaf Trap - Model 180 and or the Rainbow Leaf Trap 186.

I have an Ultra-Flow pump. I once replaced the lid (39301700) with an after market lid. The pump is pulling a lot of air and I suspect replacement lid may be slightly undersized.
As best as I can measure there is slightly less than a quarter inch difference between the lid lip O.D. ( the portion of the lid that is inserted into the pot) diameter and the pot I.D.diameter (6-9/16" vs. 6-3/4"). What is the O.D. diameter of the Val-Pak 5106-05?
The O.D. measurement on the lip is 6-5/8". We have sold over 50 of the aftermarket lids this year with no returns or issues. It could just be the o-ring on the lid or check the suction side of the pump. You may be able to tell where the air is at when you turn off the pump as that will sometime show a slight bow back exposing the leak.
