Can I replace an old DE filter "finger" (about 30 yrs old) with the new version? I can't seem to remove the original "finger". I tried turning it clockwise but it doesn't budge. Please respond at your earliest convenience.
Thank you.

Bobbie, With your filter being 30 years old I would recommend replacing the entire unit if you're able to. If you replace the entire tube assembly and something else goes then you'll have to replace that. I would also check with Hayward at 908.355.7995 to make sure that the current style can fit into the older filters.

do the fingers for the EC 65 also fit the 75?

Hi Lou they are two different size Flex Tube Nest Ec65 vs Flex-tube Nest (ec-75)

De Flex Tube Assembly (ecx1031) are they priced as one individual piece for $11.99, or for a package of more than one (10)?
Reply
Hi Bill, we did have an error in pricing and the price should be $5.99 which we have since corrected, this would be for a single DE Flex Tube.

how do I clean these?
is it possible to clean these (De flex tube assy)?
do they lose their efficiency over time?
Reply
Hi, Cleaning instructions can be found in the Hayward Perflex Manual. The Tubes will loose effectiveness over time.

is it ok that my plastic part of my flex tube is cracked? no rips in the stocking cover... when i first turn on the filter a blast of cloudy water come out...i have a hayward ec 50

Joe, If the sleeve is intact, you can still use it if you wish. A stream of de powder on start up is normal.

Shouldd we replace my tube assembly ? or should I just buy a new filter. Our DE filter pressure keeps rising after cleaning numerous times it is only about 5 yrs. old.
Reply
Hi, If you need to replace all of the Tube Assembly you will be better of replacing the Nest Assembly or the entire filter.

If I keep finding diatomaceous earth in the pool does that mean some of my fingers are gone or is it
Normal
Reply
You will need to inspect the flex tubes, the tube sheet and the diaphragm gasket of your DE filter to ensure that there is no damage to any of those parts. If any of these parts are broken or damaged, then DE powder will escape and enter the pool.

Is it possible to get the complete tube assembly and if so what would the cost be for it?
Reply
The complete tube assembly, or flex tube nest, and its availability would depend on what model filter you have. If you could provide that information, I would be better able to assist you.

How can i tell if flextubes are bad or my impeller just isn't pushing enough water . It looks ok but can they wear out
Reply
Hi, Boss. If you're getting good water flow while flushing out the filter and the water flow is not adequate when filtering the tubes are bad and needs to be replaced.

I have a ec 65a filter . after start up the filter only runs for about 2 hr. then I have keep back flusing . the tubes look good. I have to turn it off for the night. The filter is only 6 years old.
Reply
Hi, Ron. It sounds like it's time to replace the tube Assembly if they're are 6 year old. They don't typically last that long.

if i replace all the fingers on an ec 65 at 5.99 that is $600 1 would it not be cheaper to buy a whole new ec 65 filter 2 is there a quantity discount on the purchace of 100 fingers
Reply
Hello, I apologize, but there isn't a discount on this purchase of a certain quantity. It would be cheaper if you are looking at a whole new filter.

I have an E 65 Pump, The motor is brand new, and my pressure keeps going up and it is not putting any pressure through jets. It starts at about 15 lbs and goes up to over 20 lbs in a matter of mins. I am not getting any filtration in my pool. I put cleaning solution in a large bucket and soaked the fingers submerge for 24 hours. No change.
Reply
Bill, Have you tried bleeding the air from the filter? Also, how does the water look? If it's cloudy, the pressure can rise quickly.

Two questions, what size motor should I get for the EC 65A and should I replace all flex tubes at once if pool was shut off completely last summer.
Reply
Jay. A 1.5 HP pump is the max size I'll recommend to be used with this unit. I would also recommend replacing all the tube at once.

THE FLEX TUBES ARE 9 YRS. OLD HAVING PROBLEM KEEPING THEM CLEAN DE COMING BACK INTO POOL THINKING ABOUT CHANGING THE FINGERS OR IS IT CHEAPER TO REPLACE THE WHOLE UNIT?
Reply
Joseph, If you need to replace all of the fingers, it will be more cost effective to replace the entire tube assembly.

it seems that the plastic inserts have broken on many of my flex tubes. this creates a rattling sound when filter is running. i took filter apart and none of the tube fabric seems to be damaged, can i just continue using or should i replace tubes.filter is about 8 years old.
Reply
Hi, Rich. I would not recommend using the filter with the broken tubes. Replace the tubes that are broken or the complete Nest Tube Assembly.

When putting together a filter, do I leave the plastic inserts inside each 'finger', or should they be removed. (Basically, does each finger consist of three parts or two: (1) mesh, (2) white plastic form, and (3) gray x-shaped insert .)
Reply
Hi, Any. You will need to leave the plastic insert and all other parts in each of the fingers.
