When should I change the sand in my filter?
Reply
You should change the sand in your filter every 5-7 years. You can generally tell that it is time if your pool water is not as clear as it normally is or when you notice the interval between backwashes is shorter. You can use > this guide to walk you through it.

I have a Sta-Rite
model T-240BP-1 that is about 14 years old. When you go to filter mode, it acts like it is in waste mode and sends it down the drain. I've replaced the plug and gasket assembly with no help. Help!

Louis, If you already replaced the plug and gasket assembly, you may need to replace the complete valve or have someone out to see what's the issue.

how do I get sand shield off i got the valve off

Hello Pat, Here is a link to the Sta-Rite Cristal-Flo Sand Top Mount Filter Parts diagram. Unfortunately in the diagram, I see no part labeled as a sand shield which prevents me from assisting you further. You can always respond to this email if you need further assistance.

I replaced the sand in my Sta-Rite T240BP1 filter. also replaced the laterals. Used the correct sand. The sand is flowing out through my return line. Re-checked the laterals, they are all properly locked. No damage to the laterals, either.

Hi, The problem could now lie with the multiport valve, the diverter inside the valve could be bad.

Is this the right filter to replace a t-240bp-1? I notice it is 5 inches taller. Will I still be able to use the existing multi-port valve?
Reply
Hi Greg, Yes this would be the right replacement filter for the t-240bp-1 sand filter and your filter valve would fit on this filter.

I have a Sta-Rite T-240BP-1 sand filter. How often do I need to change sand? Is there a web site that shows me how to change the sand?
Reply
Hi Tom, On average, the sand in your filter should be replaced every 3-4 years. You can view our How To Change Sand In a Sand Filter guide for instructions.

I have a Cristal-Flo T-240BP-1, 3.14 sq ft surface area. Is this the same replacement and does it include the collector hub assembly? My unit came with my house and I estimate it is 10+ years old and has sprung a leak in the tank near the neck. I need to replace and want to ensure this is the right unit and includes all I need. Thanks.

Yes, that would be the correct replacement for your current filter.

How much pump HP can this filter handle?
Reply
This filter has a flow rating of 62 GPM (gallons per minute). This is the information you will need in determining if a particular pump's flow rating meets or exceeds the parameter of the filter. Different models of pumps with the same HP can have different flow ratings.

Will the T240BP Crystol be adequate for a commercial pool with 10,000 gals of water
1.5 horse pump motor
Reply
That is going to depend on the flow rate. That filter is able to handle a flow rate of 62 GPM so I would need your pump model and the distance from your pump to your skimmers to determine the flow rate.

I have a sta-rite sand filter #T240BP1, and its malfunctioning. Is the #T240BP1-2 just a newer model? I have sand in my pool ( not from wind), & think it might be an broken lateral.(?) it makes gurgling sounds at the multiport valve also. I know that's an air leak (most likely a O-ring). I have had this problem since redoing the sand. Perhaps I put too much or too little sand? (I took sand out to about 2-3" above laterals to prevent breakage) I have NO manuel. any ideas?
Reply
Sounds like a broken lateral or standpipe. If the sand is not installed careful enough the weight of the sand will crack the laterals or standpipe allowing sand to blow into the pool.

Hi, I have a Model T-240BP. It worked perfectly last year. When I started it up this year after backwashing, I put it on filter and I'm getting a continuous drizzle of water out of my waste line. I've run through all the operations and everything seems to working fine but the drizzle continues. Could there be a seal that is bad?
Reply
Yes, this is a sign that the spider gasket within the multiport valve has failed. In order to cross reference that you will need to get the specific model of that valve. You can provide that in another Q&A or you can submit that information through our support request page.

I changed the sand in my filter today the T24BP-1 and now I am getting a lot air in my glass on the pump ....also
where can I get the sticker on top that show the filter backwash -------
Reply
Hi, Richard. Air in the strainer housing is a sign of a suction leak or a pump priming issue. Try opening the air relief on the filter and also check the suction side of your system for any bad O-rings or gasket.

Will the spider gasket and other parts for a T 240 multi port valve fit in my T-200 valve. If I replace the whole multi port valve with a T 240, are the plumbing connections the same?
Thank you
Reply
Hi, Bill. The older T200BP valve parts are not compatible with the new T240BP valve. You will have to redo the plumbing because the T240BP is taller than the T200BP.

I have a t300pb2 that the tank has pin holes in it. It says it is discontinued, what would replace it?

Rick, Based on the filter model, I would recommend replacing it with the Tagelus TA-100D.

Hi, I'm starting to have an issue with my Sta-Rite filter. Can't find the Model # on it but my manual covers T-150BP-1 up to T-300BP-2 (if that helps) Anyway, with the valve set on FILTER, when I switch the pump OFF it now sends a fair discharge of water OUT through the waste line. Filter & valve shows no signs of leaking & valve controls respond correctly as always. Any idea on troubleshooting this issue?
Thanks!
Reply
Adrian, You will need to inspect the spider gasket inside of the filter valve. It sounds like that is what the issue is.

Hi, I have an old Sta Rite sand filter model BHR240 (63 GPM) 300 lbs Sand. I need to replace the lateral hub and perhaps the laterals also. The p/n on the HUB is 24100-40. The p/n on the laterals is 24700-275. Can you recommend a replacement available part I may purchase ?
Thanks.

Hi, Joseph. The part numbers that you will need are WC137-517P - Collector Hub Assy and 24600-0003 - Laterals.

Hi,
I have a T-240BP-1 sand filter that has developed a "pin-hole" leak on a lateral seem near the top of the tank . Is there some way for me to seal it?
Thanks

Hi, Steve. You can seal it using a two-part epoxy putty like product.

Do you have the part number for the spider seal?

Can you please send photos and model number of the multiport? To post photos simply click on the reply link below and upload your photos.

Thanks Alex, those photos really helped! For your valve the spider gasket is only sold glued into the diverter. So you will need this WC112 Diverter with Glued in Spider Gasket also here is a link to view the Complete Parts Breakdown for the WC112 Valve

Thank you, will I need any other seals after opening the diverter and replacing this part?

Alex, I would also suggest this Bracket O-Ring

You can not change the pie gasket in this model you, you need a diverter w/gasket installed. Give me your model and serial number please and I can get the part number you need

What size is the o-ring for this filter? I put new sand in this year and now it is leaking in several places where the top gasket clamps on?
