I need to replace my Sta-Rite P2RA5F-182 1 1/2 HP pump because it is leaking and losing prime. I am interested in the PHK2RA6E102L pump which 1 HP; it will save some power cost. I want to know if the inlet to the strainer assy. is the same height as for my present pump. My PVC plumbing is not alterable at the pump inlet.
Reply
Ron, Unfortunately they are not the same height. If you are unable to re-plumb a new pump, your best option would be to replace the motor and seals.

pool pump rated 1hp vs pump rated 1-1/2hp. what is the difference?. Also my old pump has 1-1/2" ports, do you still have this available. My pump is a sta-rite P2R5E-125L. Which is the best new match?
Reply
Dale, The difference between a 1hp and a 1-1/2hp is the power. The 1-1/2hp will circulate more water than the 1hp. Your Sta-Rite pump is no longer available. Speck EasyFit MXG 1HP Max Rated Pump

What is the GPM for 1-1/2" pipe
Reply
Hi Dave the maximum Gallons Per Minute (GPM) which can go through 1-1/2" pipe is 60 GPM so even if you had a 10 HP pump you will only be able to get 60 GPM through 1-1/2" pipe. So with this being said the max GPM for this pump with 1-1/2" pipe would be 60.

Should this pump work at a distance of 30' from skimmer at 18' above pool
Reply
Hi Wally, Yes this pump would work at 30' on an above ground pool. We would suggest that you use a minimum of 1-1/2" pipe for your plumbing.

Debby - The replacement motor for your Sta-Rite P2RA5E- 181L pump is an A.O. Smith 1 H.P Square Flange Up Rate Motor (USQ1102).

How can I determing flow rate or GPM for my pool? 11,000 gallons and I should cut the timer back for winter hours.
Reply
Hi Greg, You would first need to calculate the feet of head of your pool. You can use our How Size a Pool Pump guide to calculate the feet of head of your pool. Once you have that figure you can then use the SuperMax Performance Curve to get the GPM.

Have a sta-rite model # P2RA5E-181L do you carry this pump or what can replace this pump for direct fit?

The Speck Easy Fit Pump would be a direct fit for your P2RA5E-181L Sta Rite Dura Glas pump.

I HAVE A P2RA5E-181L WILL THE SUPER MAX 1HP PUMP REPLACE IT
Reply
Hi James, I would recommend the 1 HP Speck Easy Fit Pump as it is designed as a drop-in replacement for the Sta-Rite P2RA5E-181L meaning the plumbing ports match up in the same spot meaning no re-plumbing. The pump design on the Speck is really nice and is very efficient and pumps comparable water to your current pump.

I have a Sta-rite pump #P2RA5D-180L. Is the new PHK2RA6D-101L or 102L a good drop in replacement?

Hi Rodney, The best Drop In replacement we have found for the P2RA5D-180L Dura-Glas Pump is the Speck Easy Fit Pump, which is a direct drop-in replacement for your pump.

I have a sta-rite in ground pool pump. The motor is PLD36 dyna glas, the pump has # MPRAGE 1472 Code LL02F on it. I works fine but I noticed the filter is getting small circular pcs of plastic in it like 1/4" round white pcs. I guess the impeller is going? Whats your take on this?
Reply
If you open it up to look at the impeller and measure it, if it's less than a 4.75" diameter than your impeller is needing replaced because it's too small to pump the water.

I have a sta-rite pump for my in ground pool that need replaced motor is making noises. Its a 1hp motor.I think the model # is MPE6E-206L 1hp dyna-pro, it has 2" inlets.I would like to replace it with the same or a newer model that matches up to the the plumping that I have now

The Super Max is only going to have 1.5" ports, but the Max-E-Pro, P6RA6E205L, has the 2" ports and would be a great replacement for your Dyna-Pro.

we would like to know the total dimension of the PHK2RA6102L. So that, it would fit to the allotted space given. So its full specs

I need to replace a Sta Rite Duraglas P2RA5-E 181L. (1HP, 1 1/2 piping) will this pump replace it?
Reply
Hi, Marshall. Comparing the performance of the SuperMax pump to the Duraglas pump, the SuperMax 1HP pump will not replace a Duraglas 1HP pump. The Speck EasyFit MXG 1HP Max Rated Pump - IG281-1100M-0DG would be my recommendation.

Hi, Can I replace a Sta-Rite pool pump Model # C48K2P105 with the PHK2RA6E102L?
Reply
Hi, Don. Unfortunately, the Sta-Rite C48K2P105 is the motor number, not the pump model number. In order to confirm if the PHK2RA6E102L pump will work as a replacement, follow the steps in how How To Size a Pool Pump guide.

I have a Pentair Challenger 342248 pump. Leaks from the discharge side. Need to replace. We have 35.1 GPM & 46 feet of head. Is the 2 HP too much? We have an auxiliary motor for our Polaris pool cleaner. Both have timers for on/off functions. We have a hot tub and waterfall as well. Salt water pool. Please advise a good replacement pump.
Reply
Hi, Michael. If the main pump operate the hot tub and waterfall a 2 hp Challenger pump is not too much. You can use the Challenger High Flow Pump - 342238, or the Hayward Tristar Pump- SP3220EE as a suitable replacement.

Replacing bad pump. I have the PHK2RA6E102L now. I planned to buy the exact same pump, but wondering if maybe a larger pump would be better such as a 1.5 HP. No waterfall or hottub, but we have a few fountain jets. The pool cleaner doesn't seem to run suffienciently even when all other pipe circuits are closed.
Any issues to consider with a potentially "oversized" pump?
Reply
Hi, Brent. You can go with a larger sized pump. The biggest this would be making sure your filter is large enough to handle the additional water flow.

I have this pump and am looking to replace. I see the port size is 1.5". I have 2.5" dia pipe above ground between my electric heater, pump, and filter housing. The pipes transition to 2" dia between valves/levers, then finally to 1.5" diameter underground. Will my above ground 2.5" dia plumbing fit this pump? I assume it should since I already have this pump...
Reply
Hi, Brent. Yes, it will if you're measuring the pipes OD. The unions with this pump can be used with 1.5" or 2" pvc ID pipes.

My pool is 20x40 Grecian 8' deep will this pump be sufficient

Hi, Robert. To determine if this pump will be sufficient for your pool, you will need to calculate the Total Dynamic Head (TDH) using Gauges or your Plumbing then referencing the Pump Curve located on page 12 of the SuperMax Owner's Manual.

Hi, Lonnie. If the pump is getting power at the terminal, the issue could be an issue with the pump drive controller.

water went below the skimmer...motor was running for awhile with no water...now does not pump water but motor will still run...what do I do?

You will need to open the pump up and inspect to see if any of the plastic parts are warped or melted. If so, you will need to replace them. It could be as simple as replacing the seals with the Gokit78 if you have a salt pool you will order the PS-3867 Pump Shaft Seal Heavy Duty, Seal Plate O-ring (355619), Diffuser O-Ring 355030, and Lubricant LUBE-PP If you find you need to replace some of the plastic parts here are your part numbers to the model Super Max 1HP Pump - PHK2RA6E102L; Seal Plate 355612, Impeller 355067, and Diffuser 355617
